Wednesday Mix-up

"I'm just running like this."(in shorts and a tshirt)- A disgusted bull low over the decision to run outside.

I hate Wednesdays! It's one day that I dread every single week. Today I woke up to rain smashing off my window. Why do I do this was the first thing that crossed my mind and what the frig am I going to wear was the second. I quickly grabbed some stuff and made my way to the TTF.

Everyone had packed outdoor running gear except for the bull. "Why don't I get any emails?" Asked a bull kicking his track pants across the floor. It turned out to be a turning point in the rookie and the bull's relationship. In a time of need Vessey offered bull a sweater. Bull was still not happy with the decision but we went outside anyways. We took 3 steps out into the rain...took a quick vote and went back inside for the run. There was some Jawing going up the stairs but like all good teams do we put it behind us and moved on to the track.

Again....I hate Wednesdays! First km was alright...did fine on the stairs as well. Second km....I quit tdisc. On the stairs I decided to pull out of the Bunny hop. Third km....I rejoined Tdisc. Third set of stairs I quit texting. fourth km...I was back doing the bunny hop. Just another day in the life of Bryan. For those looking for inspiration....close your eyes. This all came after 18 months of training. Nope! it doesn't get any easier.

Top 5 topics in the lockerroom after:

5.Deaths in the sweat lodge.
4.The lemon juice bowel cleansing.
3.The Tdisc food challenge
2.Use of the Rocket
1.Texting

Tonight I make my long awaited return to Edfit. It's good to have ya back Vess!

Tdisc Mailbag

Question from Matty T!

Matty T:Will there be Tdisc rankings this season (based on placings from all races) or is it solely a team effort? I'd like to be able to keep track of how each individual does...

Tdiscgreggy "c":Yes there will be tdisc rankings this year. All team members will send their race predictions for the team, to Coach Kree on Friday before all races.

Tdisc thanks you for your support.

A message from Kent MacPhee

With Prerace predictions looming...the boys have begun to feel the pressure. Coach Tdisckree responded to the captains email with the following....
"My pre-race prediction –

I will be right with Kris Taylor till the end of the Source for Sports Building (on the way out.)

I will have him in my sights till the stop sign….I’m gonna corner hard to stay with him until the lights. Doubt it will happen.

Someone on Tdisc might do good. I won’t.

Thanks,

Kent MacPhee (Bryan’s brother)"

A message from the Captain

Scratches:Josh Vessey (Monday morning Flu)

A couple house keeping items to deal with first. Umm...just like to wish Roberta Dowling Happy Birthday. Roberta has been a major supporter of the blog and Bryan. From all of us at Tdisc and bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com...have a great day!

Also, Congratulations to the Macdonald Flames for winning the The crapaud rec tournament! When we were down going into the third and who gave the pep talk....none other then our own Captain Tdiscgreggy!

The Monday morning cleansing went really well. We went for a nice short run and hit the showers early. Shortly after... the Captain sent a memo to the team.
"Happy Monday!

Good morning team, just wanted to say it was great to have the team back in good spirits today. I think Bull was low to start the run but with the chatter of Tdisc he was in great spirits leaving the TTF anxious to mold young minds.
This is a big week for the team with only 5 sleeps before the first race together as the "Big Five" and Vessey on tryout. I would like to see a couple podium finishes but it is only the first race, so we are still all working out the kinks.

Vessey on tryout had a great week ever since the tri last weekend, never missing a day. The whole team was disappointed when we received the news that he had caught a mysterious illness. There are critics that are rumoring that he is just burnt out, after a full week. The team is giving him the benefit of the doubt and expect nothing less than him to bounce back tomorrow in the pool.

I am really excited for a short run on Friday followed by a team breaky at Maids.

Big week ahead, can't wait til tomorrow

Captain

Coaches Week in Review

Coaches Comments on the week that was:

“I was happy with the production from the group this week. Monday was a pivotal day for our group, being without the Admiral on a Monday was tough. The day could have went south quick when talks of Maids came up in the changing room prior to the run. It was good the boys punched the clock on a good week.”

“Want to make mention of a guy on our team that just won’t quit. Josh Vessey was junk in the early going of this tryout agreement but has been a significant member of the group this week. He got the illustrious team pull-overs that no one else was able to seal the deal on. He has provided the entire team with good shampoo and body wash every workout. He also made it to every workout this week and put in a solid effort. He also made a commitment to triathlon this week when he bought a wetsuit. Real happy with what I saw from him this week…Good to have him back.”

On the week ahead:

“Gonna be good to have a race week. It usually scares me into a decent diet so that will help. The team is ready for a challenge. Even the Admiral is ready to race…he told me this morning when he was talking about his new shoes “ Can’t wait to let these puppies eat !! “ It’s gonna be a long season for Tdisc this year, but it’ll be good to get the feet wet in competition.”

Malone Calls it Quits

"Hold his Jacket Vessey." -coach Tdisckree refering to the Malone situation.

Last night I was a little late eating and it was curry. It's sooo good but frig it just shoots your stomach. I had trouble getting to sleep and found myself friggen around on Facebook. It did that for a bit then tried to go to sleep. Next thing I knew I was recieving a text. Frig! it's time to get up and Kree probably wants a ride. Wrong! It was 3:25am and it was Jason Malone. "Officially done till April 1st. Until then I can't be fully committed to the team. Once April rolls around i'll be ready to learn what it takes."

It's disappointing to see this happen again. We really didn't think he was going to be like Timmy and Domi. Come on Malone!

Today it was a bit of rough swim. Thank goodness the coach bagged us at the end. We finished with 10-100's on 2:00. I really lacked motivation but stuck with it and completed it.

I'd also like to give a shout out to Reta Holland. She was a long time member of the adversaries before finally jumping ship and becoming a part of Tdisc Nation.

Tomorrow we prepare for the DQ Run. Just over one week away.

Hi....I'm Byron!

Scratches: Jason Malone (Waiting to buy a new pair of shoes.)

"Pye...my mom just started reading the blog....can you please blog again?" -Bull

The above quote is one of the main reasons as to why I am blogging again. Bryan had questions about this team and in the end decided to step back, but lately I have come to realize that Tdisc is a family. The whole Birthday weekend was enough for me to buy back into this phenominal team. I'm glad to be back in control again...and bringing the news to Tdisc Nation. Today I am going to count down the top 10 things the fans have missed over the past 2 weeks.

10. "It's good to have you back Vess."-Tdisc
For a few weeks Vessey would show up and then disappear for awhile. Every time we would welcome him back with the above statement." This led to the Eyeopener heard around the world. I'm happy to announce that the clock has started again...he has not missed a day since the indoor tri. Good to have you back Vess!

9. Jason Malone was put on the clock by tdisc. After week one...the expectations were high for Malone. The novelty quickly wore off and the dog day ate him up. He showed up here and there before the tri and Retired the day after.

8. Tdisc Represents! Tdisc comes 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th at the Andrew's Sport Conditioning Indoor Triathlon 2010.

7. Tdisc Merchandise. Vessey has taken the bull by the horns and ordered team jackets that will arrive this week. It was a move that was greatly apprectiated by the team. Team dress code for races will be....team jacket, shirt and tie, and cargo shorts.

6. My Birthday! hmmm....26th year has been something else...Came in like a lamb....went out like a lion!

5. Admirals Feet! They are now under control. We are waiting on an official statement from the admiral but from what we here they are no longer eating his socks.

4. TDK irritates Fisher with blowout movement prior to Tdisc run." Day to Day.

TDK had this to say: " It literally felt like a cork coming out. It was loud too which I think scared the Admiral who was sitting on a chair in his usual spot just outside stall #2. By the time I realized what happend it was too late. I think it's just a slight rip so it shouldn't take too long to heal. I should be good to go tomorrow. As for the Admiral, I think he's changing stalls."

3. Tdk and Bull win The Maritime plank hold test. At a conditioning course held over the weekend...the boys outlasted a strong field to take the title.

2. Domi's boy! Nearly caused heart failure within Tdisc. If it wasn't for Byron...Domi was going to be knocked off!

1. Byron!!! enough said.

It's great to be back folks. If you have any questions for Tdisc than please comment at the bottem of the wall post and it will be answered in the next blog. Please leave your name. Thanks!

Glad to be back,
Byron

Captain Struggles as the Dog days continue

Scratches: Jason Malone(Flu like symptoms)
Josh Vessey (Car broke down)

As I sit here I'm dry heaving at the thought of the racing season being just around the corner. We have 11 days till our first minor race of the season. I'm not looking to peak right yet but with it being in our own back yard I want to have a good showing. I'm a little nervous for that reason! I've increased my swims, began spinning, and refocused myself for the run. We're still laying seeds, but beginning to plan for harvesting.

After the swim the captain released a statement on his website....www.TheCaptain.com.

"Today's swim for me was the worst of the 2010 year, I splashed around for a solid 45 mins. I could never find my stride, and felt tired the entire swim. The wall of Negativity was calling my name, but I would not listen and continued to swim. I continued to stay positive just chalked it up to a bad swim day and Thursday will be better.
It was great to have the pool not very busy and have the big five there hacking it out in the pool. The dog days are not over yet, and tdisc gets better everyday.

I am getting nervous about the indoor tri, because so many people know that we train, and I get thumped by a nobody than I will not be happy. This time last year I had a idea what is it like to run a 10k, but not race. I have no idea what to expect from a triathlon and even though I knew it was going to be extremely hard, it surpassed what I expected.
This year I am in better shape, I feel stronger, and am more confident in the pool. My biking has a long way to go, any will be my main focus as soon as the snow is gone.
Can't wait for tomorrow

Captain"

Our goal has always been to promote our lifestyle and the sport we've come to love. It took awhile....but you don't have to look to far now to see we are making headway.

The rumors of the dog days being over are starting to surface. With an extra hour of sunlight beginning on the weekend it is expected that Tdisc will call a news conference, where The Admiral will officially call an end to the Dog Days of '09-'10.

Malone Cramps on day 3

Scratches:Josh Vessey(no car)

This week has been a major statement week for Tdisc. Right from the drop of the hat on Monday we've pushed ourselves to the extreme through hump day. Today we arrived at the TTF in fairly good spirits. Noticeably absent was Josh Vessey. At 6:15am Josh had a phone conversation with the admiral. According to the admiral it went a bit like this...

Jv-"Can't make it...don't have a car."
Admiral-"ok"
Jv-"Are you mad at me?"
No-"No...but you're going to have to explain this to the bull."

....Vessey was quite shaken over the whole situation...unsure how the convo was left off.

The 6 of us piled into the much cooler cari pool and did our usual warmup. We then prepared for our cardio set. The coach was in the middle barking out orders and everyone was listening. The bull had to study so he just swam. At one point I looked up and the bull was spliting the D going right down the middle of the lane. Everyone seemed to swim well. As I was finishing up I went to turn at the other end when I heard...."he's pulling a vessey." I looked up to see malone holding on to the diving board, grabbing his leg and wincing in pain. He had officially experienced a pool cramp.

As we were leaving the pool area the media caught up with Malone. "Jason, can you talk a little bit about your first 3 days with Tdisc?" Jason nodded. "First off, I want to start by saying that I'm thrilled to be training with the TDisc family. Coming off a tough loss last night in triple overtime only to get home at 1 am, I struggled out of bed. But the TDisc core group pushed me into swim mode in the locker room. "I don't want to swim today" is exactly how the Admiral put it. Thanks for the motivation Breezer!
Im not going to lie, its been a battle thus far. The excitement of agreeing to the 100 day tryout officially wore of this morning, as I had to jump out of the pool with what is known as the 'Vessey cramp'. The pain I experienced reminded me of how far I have to go to even consider myself a part of this illustrious crew. TDiscGreggy has been there for me though, pushing me at the right times and keeping me motivated.
Hopefully things continue to move in the right direction. Im really looking forward to the upcoming road trip to the sweat lodge, as well as sleeping tonight. Thanks"

I think I speak for the team when I say it's been an honor to have Jason with us this week. He's given Tdisc the push we need coming out of the dog days.

They also caught up with the coach who had this to say...
"Been real pleased with how the team has responded in the pool the last two mornings. Good to see Jason Malone putting in a good effort. All the boys are buying in and making themselves better every day. There has been very little time spent hanging off the "wall of negativity."

"Just wanted to pass along a big "good luck" to Bull on his upcoming exams. Here at TDISC we value education, and Bull has been very diligent with his studies this semester. Let's hope all that hard work pays off Thursday."

Other housekeeping matters:

Admiral has been diagnosed with a severe case of "Admirals Feet" - this is not in any way related to "Admiral Hamstrings."

Jason Malone has been diagnosed with a grade 3 blister. However, he doesnt' plan to miss any training.

Josh Vessey's car confusion will no longer be an issue - from now on he will be picked up by the Axe guy."

Live from the TTF

(It's 8pm et. The cameras are set up in the TTF lounge. With curtains all around the reporters move looking for a better position. By the entrance to the bathrooms a podium stands with 4 chairs in front containing the 4 members of Tdisc and 2 seats behind them containing Josh Vessey and Jason Malone.)

(TDP enters and addresses Tdisc Nation.)

Good Evening,

Thanks for coming. I'd first like to thank my teamates for the support that they've given to me over this past week and a half.(The admiral checks his watch.) I'm like everyone else...I have to follow the rules. I thought I could text and eat whatever I wanted, but I can't! I understand that i've made mistakes and I appologize to my team for putting them through this. (bull patterson is now asleep with a book in his hand.) I'm deeply sorry! I have gotten help and I'm ready with my teamates support to tackle this all over again. I'm not sure how often or when but I will blog again. This is my problem....NOT my teams. So Please....leave them ALONE. Thank-you!

(TDP looks up at the reporters and begins to blog live.)

Scratches: Tdiscgreggy(Too Unorganized)

I woke up feeling great. After getting the realization email from the captain last week that said we are less than 2 weeks away from our first running race and 90 days away from the RIR. It's a wake up call that the season is just around the corner. We've been all over the map lately and it's time to focus in on the goal.

Last night the team recieved a text from the captain..."hockey...done. volleyball...done. working weekends....done. Tdisc....Just getting started!" Everyone on the team understands that time is now our enemy.

I recieved a text from the captain and then recieved a text from kree saying that someone else has stepped forward and acknowledged that they would too like a better lifestyle. When I woke up I could hear the sheets of rain smashing off the window..so I texted the coach "some nasty morning." He replied "plan for the worst." Shortly after I recieved another text...this time from the captain "Not going to make it, didn't get home till after midnight. Too unorganized. Sorry boys." It was disappointing and with the end of the olympics and the weather...I was low going to the TTF. I was quickly snapped out of it when I entered the changing room and bull looked at me and said..."You're low!" Then I looked and saw Jason Malone who had arrived for his first day. My mood had changed...again.

I went with the bull and Malone, and Vessey and the admiral teamed with the coach. We did 30 min bike sprints and then met at the track to run 3k. Chicken wings give bull gas so the running order went as follows. The admiral on the left and the bull on the right. The coach was behind the admiral, and I was behind the coach. Followed by Vessey and then Malone behind him. There was a big gap behind the bull for obvious reasons. We did everything we could to drop Malone today...the pace was outrageous. I had both shoe laces undone but kept running because if I stopped then I was a lap down. It worked as a great cleansing from the hockey party the night before.

I'm now going to have the bull come up and address the Jason Malone situation. Bull?

(Bull steps to the podium)

"Dear Tdisc Nation,

I'm extremely excited about the up and coming weeks. Jason Malone has agreed to terms on the Tdisc 100 day tryout. He has come aboard not knowing what he is getting himself into but there was a strong preformance in spin and then the stiff run this morning.

Time will only tell if he will last the grueling 100 day tryout.

Does Jason Malone have the stones to stick with Tdisc?

Good to have you back TDP

TDBull"

(Bull hugs TDP and then the whole team.)

Thanks bull! It's an exciting time for Tdisc. I look forward to riding shotgun in this journey towards a better life. Good luck Malone!

Just a reminder of the Tdisc sweat lodge that is quickly approaching. For those who haven't gotten your waiver in, can u please get that in soon. If you don't know what a sweat lodge is then check out http://www.welcomehome.org/rob/sweat/sweat.html. It is gaurenteed to be a blog for the ages.

Something the fans don't know. Ummm....the admiral is battling a bad case of dry feet.(everyone looks at the admiral who is sitting with shorts and high socks on.) He moisturizes his feet and then puts socks on to keep the moisture in. The admiral has been quoted as saying "They're (bleep) putting holes in my socks" and "They're a (bleep) mess!" Stay tuned for the admirals segment titled 5 ways to deal with dry feet.

Thank you all for coming.
