The end of an Era

Dear Tdisc Nation,

I regret to inform you that as of Sunday, Feb. 21/10 I will be stepping down as author of the blog. Please understand that this was not a decision that was easy for me to make. Tdisc Nation always had and always will have a place in my heart.

Some people will ask me...how did u know it was time? All I can say to that is...You just know! The hours that I have put into those 317 posts were some of the happiest hours of my life. When the blog was formed on Jan. 1/09 I never thought I'd see this day. It was formed as a way of recording, but quickly changed to become a way of inspiring. If one person was inspired through this blog than I have done my job.

I'm the greatest blogger of all time! 18000+ hits earned me rookie of the year in 2009. The stats speak for themselves. All good things must come to an end. I look forward to what's next.

With Great respect for Tdisc Nation,
Bryan

Come onnnnnn Weekend!

Scratches: The admiral(Parenting)
Josh Vessey (Too late at the jug)

It's been a really long week for me. Even with the storm days I've still battled to get where I am this week. Today I arrived at the pool with a full car load. My first stop was bull's house. His truck has no lights. After doing that I went 5 minutes down the road and picked up the coach. There was no fear of us being late today.

After getting to the changing room on time I sat and stared at the floor for an extended period of time. Then I posed on the pool deck with goggles on for a few minutes trying to think of ways to get out of swimming today. I suggested the hot tub but they didn't bite on it. In I went. We had a great swim today for all. Bull worked on his cardio and after the swim said "I think I'm ready." The coach, the captain, and I did a warm-up followed by 10 100's. I felt great!

Yesterdays cancellation of Tdisc practice went through all the needed requirements. Bull started the process with a text to me at 6:05am. Then after no response went to the coach by making a phone call at 6:08am. Then I got a call from the bull at 6:10am. The coach then called me and said he was waiting on the official word from the admiral. 6:15 we get confirmation from the admiral that it is called off. 6:16am I text the captain. 6:17am the captain calls the admiral to makes sure. 6:18am Vessey is notified. 6:20 Everyone is back to bed.

Tonight it's edfit. Tomorrow it's bike and weights.

The emotional roller coaster known as the dog days.

"I'm Tired today."- A sleep deprived Admiral
"Are you still low?"- Captain Tdiscgreggy(referring to my Bryan moments over the weekend)
"I don't feel like i'm getting any better in the pool."- Josh Vessey

Physically I was training at a high level over the weekend...but mentally it was crushing blow leading into another week of the dog days. Some boys took Monday off but the admiral decided to go for a short run. The bull who arrived at 6:45 ran on his own while the admiral and I opted for a later start.

I went to bed last night knowing that I had to pick up bull who was having truck problems. After seeing Jake kick off Gia(What an idiot!) I set my alarm a bit earlier and hit the hay. I woke up feeling great. We arrived early for the 7am swim time. That's when my emotions went bad again. Here's a run down of my mood changes over the morning:
7:00- It's great to be here today...can't wait to swim.
7:05- Frig I don't want to get in the pool. Why do I do this?
7:10- I'm swimming great and decide to push a bit harder.
7:15- I'm hanging off the rope and have decided to quit the blog after getting passed while kicking.
7:20- Start an endurance set with the captain. I decide i'm going to blog after all.
7:25- Miss counted.....contemplating just doing some skullies.
7:45- Finish the endurance set. Have the swimmer's high. I'm on top of the world!
7:55- Sitting in the lockerroom, struggling to find the motivation to shower.
7:56- Decide to quit facebook!
8:05- Check facebook...consider changing my status. Scanned my whole homepage.
8:30- Had too much for breakfast. I'm bloated...consider skipping edfit.
8:45- Decide to go on a strict diet...and think about what to blog about.
8:50- Walk by the candy dish....unphased!
10:00- Sit in to 2 bisquits and a pound of fresh bacon for coffee break. Bloated again....decide to quit texting and the blog.
10:30- Send the coach a text. Ready to put a drive on in the training. Quit facebook again.
11:00- Hurt my back...i'm ready for a job change.
12:00- Blogging...while sending a text, with another page open...which is 3 profile's deep in facebook, and have my food addiction under control.

Just another day.....

Just a reminder of the fan poll that is in the top right hand corner. As of right now it will be the bull speaking directly to Tdisc nation on Friday. Tonight it's edfit....tomorrow it's Sprints.

Finally....Friday!

Again I was up way past my triathlete bedtime. Workouts in the morning and workouts at night, combined with late night activity is usually the recipe for disaster. I don't know how I'm holding it together today. It's just shows how far I have come emotionally from where I was last year. Last year Bryan would have showed up and went low and probably released a negative statement on the blog. Not this year!

When I went to bed last night I thought to myself. Friday is usually never that hard. I can do bike sprints without totally killing myself and I don't mind heavy legs. Well...today was a totally different story. The coach had a workout designed for 30min on the bike. Coach ran one group while the bull ran our group. It was much harder than I thought it was going to be. After we finished we met downstairs by the rink, where we did 16 sets of stairs from bottom to top. It hurt! I just do everything I can to try and keep pace...these guys are machines. Vessey summed it up best when he answered to where the coach was? "He's sitting in a chair at the top...he thinks he's gonna puke." A usual light day turned into a Friday Bagger. Tdisc planted another seed!

We haven't done a lot of long runs lately, so tomorrow we are hoping to get back into the routine of Saturday long runs.

Looking forward to a rest day,

Plant the seed

Scratches: The admiral(Parenting)
Bull Patterson(Night with Youssi)

I've been completely exhausted after my long day on Tuesday. Although I didn't have trouble getting up this morning, I found that my body was really tired. I just had trouble getting going. For Example: Arrived at 6:55. Entered the changing room at 7:04. Left the changing room at 7:10. Sat on the pool deck with goggles on till 7:14. Began swimming at 7:18. This should take 5 minutes. The not so good part about it....The rest of the team followed suit.

For being tired I swam well today. I started with a warm up and then did 1250m consecutively. Finished with a cool down. It is disappointing for the team not to have the admiral and bull in the lineup this morning. It is also disappointing for fellow triathletes swimming beside. One triathlete mentioned that he swims better when he has the admiral there racing against him. Pushs everyone else in the pool.

We stopped by the hottub for a few minutes following the swim. It was there that the coach gave Vessey an inspirational pep talk. "You see Vessey. You planted a seed today. You continue to work hard and plant seeds, because in July you harvest those seeds and all that hard work planting pays off." Stated Coach Tdk. Vessey and the Coach high fived right there. Vessey now understood why he was pushing himself in February.

Tonight it's edfit...tomorrow it's bike sprints and weights.

Starting over!

Today was a new day for Josh Vessey. In a phone conversation that I had with him after the announcement of the vote he said "I understand...thanks for the support." He arrived on time even though he got stuck in the driveway. The saviour.....setting the alarm clock 15 minutes early. That's what the stipulations were made for.

I was worried upon my entry into the water today but quickly found a groove. I found a way to hammer out 1500m. I was really impressed with the way I swam but I'm still not where I need to be in the water. Since it was a full house in the pool today I didn't get the chance to swim with the boys. From what I heard there was a bit of racing going on...the admiral was defending his title in the 50m freestyle.

It's great to be back with Tdisc and into the triathlete routine. Tonight it's edfit...tomorrow it's bike sprints and weights.

Vessey Survives!

By a vote of 3-2, Vessey narrowly survives. With a vote of 2-2 the admiral deliberated for a half an hour then made his decision. He released this statement..."As the tie break vote, I vote Josh Vessey to remain with Tdisc.
Upon Stipulations:

1) 100 day count goes back to zero
2) has no authority what so ever to cancel a workout
3) must set his alarm 10 mins earlier
4) needs to come up with better excusess than the ones he used.
5) volunteers to be Kree's personel lint brush
6) He and bull get drunk together and get back on the same page for the Red Isle."

Members Vote

For Immediate Release:

It is with great regret I inform you that tonight at 7pm there will be a secret ballot vote to determine the status of Josh Vessey. Over the past number of days, his future with TDISC has been in question. As coach of the team, I must bring this issue to a head. On Monday Feb. 1 Josh Vessey orchestrated a series of events and text messages that led to the cancellation of a workout. He "decieved and tricked" the Admiral - something that is never taken lightly. On Wednesday, Feb. 3, Josh Vessey missed a workout due to a power outage that knocked his alarm clock out. After further investigation (Tdisc called Jason Flick at Maritime Electric), the report was untrue and in fact he slept in. Today, Feb 8, Josh Vessey missed the entire TDISC workout.
During the run, the fate of Josh Vessey was discussed at great length amongst the members. It was agreed that something needed to be done.

In recognition of these past events, I TDISCKREE call for a secret ballot vote. All five members will cast a ballot at 7pm AST tonight - Feb 8. The following will be the procedure:

At 7pm all members of TDISC will text the Admiral with their vote. It will either read:

"VESSEY STAYS"
or
"VESSEY IS OUT"

Admiral will recieve the texts. IF it is a tie, then he will cast the deciding ballot. If he doesn't feel that he has sufficient information, Vessey may be called to Testify at the Admirals house. In this event, all members will also attend as well as the CRM in order to keep a record of the minutes.

Admiral will then release the count to TDISCPYE. Vessey's fate will be revealed on the blog at 730 AST.

Regrettfully,

TDK

I'm Back!

"I shoveled fast this morning so I would be on time...then people show up late." -Admiral (ticked)

"He's *&#@*$@ Gone!"- Bull

I must say...I'm glad to be back bringing the daily events to Tdisc nation. I had a great vacation. As a triathlete...sometimes we need rest, and that I did. Other then a bad case of Tdisckree bowls, I feel great. I'm ready to face the dog days head on.

I'm extremely upset with what has happened to my dearest Tdisc while I was gone. It's no secret that the blog holds guys accountable and from what i've heard, there was no accountability while I was gone. That all changes this week. Today's run was a statement run. In the words of the admiral "it was a good ol' fashion Tdisc run." The conditions were terrible!

The biggest news is definatly the fate of Josh Vessey. As talked about below...he missed a big run. I will admit that I was ready to follow the bull and can him right then. When I came up the stairs to the TTF following the run, my mindset changed. I saw a vacant workout bag by the locked door with a bag of bagels sitting next to it. Shortly there after Vessey came walking in....low as a snake. He handed everyone a bagel with strawberry jam. They made a mistake at tim's and only put 5 in so he didn't have one. The bull was not being swayed at all and made no bones about it that he wants vessey gone. A short dispute started and ended then surfaced again in by the showers. Something had to be done!

Tonight will be the first time Tdisc has gone to a secret ballot in order to reveal someone's fate. I see a bit of myself in Vessey. Until I got paired with the admiral for the Red Isle and began fearing for my life, I was late and quitting and just getting smashed by the dog days. For me I was able to get it back on track, he needs to do the same. My ballot tonight will not be a secret. I've voting for Vessey to stay. I had a meeting with him this morning and I believe he can commit 110% to Tdisc. Before leaving I wished him good luck...and all he could say was "I'm nervous."

Tdisc isn't for everyone. That's why we have the 100 day trial. We'll see tonight if Josh Vessey survives to see another day with Tdisc. As of right now I'd say that the vote sits at 1-1. I don't think the bull can be swayed.

Till later tonight,
