Bedlum in Pictou!

"Three"-The Admiral when asked on a scale of 1-10 how excited he was to race.

We had no reason to think that this triathlon would be any different than the others. Wow! we're we ever wrong. Today's blog counts down the Top 5 moments of last weekend's Pictou County Triathlon.

5. Race to the boat- When the triathlon was over we didn't have much time before leaving for the boat. Due to a couple of circumstances that you will hear about later, it quickly became an every man for himself race to the boat. Kris and I(in my car) led for most with anne(driving her car with the admiral, trace, and cole) right on our heals. With 2k to go a van full of kids came up the outside at about 150km/h to finish just in front. As we got ushered onto the boat Kris looked back to see the pylon going in front of anne. "oh frig..the admiral isn't getting on." After a few moments the admiral was ushered onto the boat and the door went up. Sucks to have to play the Tdisc card but you do what you have to do.

4.Pat's Crash-Fellow Triathlete Pat Ellis went down going into corner 1 on the bike. We're not exactly sure on the details of the accident but we do know she was left with a broken nose and broken hand. It's a bad feeling when the ambulance goes flying by. We wish Pat a speedy recovery!

3.Admirals lost wallet-The main reason for the dash to the boat. Just as we were about to leave, a worn out admiral announced that his wallet was missing. Not sure where it was Trace got on the phone to the hotel. The search was now on at the Comfort inn. Looking for numbers to the hotel we decided to bring in Wayne from Emyvale. He was now calling back with numbers that we already had found. 10 minutes later the admiral reached into the back seat and pulled out is wallet.

2.TDP's Crash-I came out of the water with an ok swim. I knew I was middle of the pack which I expected. Knowing my bike is my strong point I came out of the transition really looking to make up some time. So as I climbed the first hill I decided to wait and take in some water on the way down the hill. I became a little too complacent and lost control at about 35km/h. I was sent tumbling across the shoulder and onto the side of the road. Covered in dirt and road rash I got up and looked over my bike. There were a few minor twists that I got straightened out then it was decision time. I remember one rider clearly telling me..."it's not far to go back." I had 2 choices...quit...or finish my 4th triathlon. I finished in 2h40m.

1. Admirals Dump- It's well known around Tdisc that the admiral never uses the bathroom. He just doesn't! When tdisckree sat into stall 1 and the admiral pulled into stall 2....he knew something wasn't right. "Is that you admiral?" TDK asked. "Yep...I'm not feeling good." The admiral replied. When TDK came out he wasn't long getting over to me...."holy frig...the admiral is in taking a dump. He must be some fricken sick!"

Burn out!

"Let's train tonight...it's going to rain some day and we won't be able too."- Coach Tdisckree

Well....I took his advice and Burnt myself out! That rainy day was too long coming. It was yesterday that I sat down and could hardly get myself back up. I just felt tired and unmotivated. I struggled through the whole morning at work before climbing right under the covers at lunch time. I literally passed out in bed for an hour before getting up feeling much better and knowing exactly that I was suffering from burn out. I began to feel better as the afternoon wore on. That's when I decided that I needed an outdoor swim. Wowzers!

So i've attempted to go out to Rustico with some fellow triathletes for a couple weeks but was unable to until last night. Even though I was slightly burnt out I though "i'm a triathlete...it won't be too bad." We swam the first 750m resting at each buoy. That was no problem...as I was just a bit back. The next 750 was a different story. The boys put the hammer down with no stops. I was just givener trying to keep up. As my goggles began to leak I closed my left eye just as my right one began to fog up. Not only was I pulling to the left, but I couldn't even frickin see. Half sick from all the salt water the thoughts of retirement began to surface. I arrive at the dock to see coach tdisckree standing on the dock. "sorry, I knew u were back there but I had to try and survive myself." Tdisckree said while reaching out to give me a pull up onto the dock. I couldn't get up....my legs began to cramp, and my feet were cut from buoy 2 and I was low! Finally kree pulled me up by the back of my wetsuit while saying "get the frig up here."

After the swim we decided to go for a run. Having no supper...I searched kree's car for some kind of food. Spotted....box of timbits! Hammering down 4 timbits I followed the boys out on the run. Bad idea! As I reached the 1st climb I began to burp up surgar timbits and salt water. oh frig....what a nightmare! "aww frig...I can't puke in front of these guys...Jeez!" I thought as I reached the top. It wasn't until the halfway point that I began to get my legs. It was a pure battle. The coach and I climbed in the car and both took a deep breath before saying..."wow..good training run!" I often make the mistake of becoming too comfortable in training. This was what I needed!

I took the whole day off in preparation for the Pictou County Triathlon on Sunday. The lineup is as follows:

The Admiral (In)
Tdisckree (In)
TDP (In)
Tdisct(w) (In)
"C" Tdiscgreggy (out) (house)
Bull (out) (Home)

Tdisc Changes Lives!!

(We're standing on the beach. In a pair a pair of tri shorts. That's it! The call has gone out...1 minute till the horn.)

Admiral: "did u ever think we'd see this day?" (looking down at his half see through tri shorts)
TDP: "Nope! Tdisc changes lives." (looking down at my skin tight spandex)

It's good to be back in the presence of Tdisc Nation! I want to thank all the fans for patiently sticking with me and my team throughout the break from the blog. I regret to inform you that Byron has stepped out of the way and has let bryan in. Following a major meltdown on the weekend, I decided to re-evaluate my life and the direction i've been going. My food addiction reached an alltime and my texting addiction led to sore thumbs. Following a run that felt like someone put ex lax in my coffee, I decided it was time to get back to my beloved Tdisc and our Fans.

Duncan Hadley Triathlon

Sratches: Tdiscgreggy "C" (Building a new house)
Coach TDK (Stag party)
Bull (Gone Home)

I sent a text to the admiral a week prior to the triathlon. "If you pull out then I will too." I got a quick and stern reply...."no...we're doing it!" That's why he's our big gun!
This time around we were much more relaxed. There were very little nerves from both of us leading up to the race. knowing that the admiral has us on a tight budget I was very skeptical about the idea of him booking the hotel. "The Prospect inn"...I need to say No more! The admiral who was disgusted by the dirty windows went straight to bed following our pregame meal at east sides. Myself....I decided to facebook and text. I was quite active on both which facinated the admiral. In a phone call to the coach, the admiral was quoted as saying "it's unbelievable...you really need to see him in action." Later that evening I recieved an email from the captain. "I just wanted to let you know that tdisc is very proud of you and the admiral to step up and enter in this tri without the whole team. You guys trained hard and your both very ready. Just relax and enjoy the race.
Good luck boys kick some friggen ass!"

We woke up bright and early in preparation for the tri. We went through the usual setup of our transition area. Things were pretty hectic and rumours were beginning to swirl about it being a no wetsuit race. As I walked by the registration lodge I read it for myself..."No Wetsuits." I just kept walking right on by to the bathroom...it had sped up the process of getting rid of my chicken parm.
When I got back to the transition area the admiral had already gotten the word. "what are we going to wear?" I asked. "We can't wear shirts." replied the admiral. I thought to myself awww jeez...I can't go down there just in my spandex. Sure enough the next thing I knew we were standing on the beach with nothing on but goggles and spandex. Frig sakes!

My strategy again this year was to get out right in the middle of the washing machine. since i'm not a straight swimmer it is best for me to get in the middle so if I go left or right I run into someone. Sure enough that's what happened...I swear two people tried to catapult off me around the first buoy. I felt like I was swimming well but you still have no idea where you are at when in the water. As I came out of the water I gave a quick yank on the tights to leave a little to the fans imagination. I looked at my watch and saw that I was 34min in the water. I was really disappointed but I knew that it's a long race so I needed to get over it quickly. My first loop on the bike wasn't great but I gradually found a groove. I knew I was making great time and way ahead of last years time. I finished the bike in 1h13m. For those who have never ran off the bike....it feels like your legs are a hundred pounds and you have no stride! I battled through run for the first 2 loops before I really found a grove and cruised the final 2 loops. I finished in 2h40m. The admiral who had a great race finished in 2h35m. The mental games that occur throughout the race is unbelievable. Your legs want to shut down and you just have to find a way to keep going. As much as I didn't want to do the race i'm glad that I did it. It's an extremely tough race and the feeling of accomplishment afterwards is awesome!

I was quite low all day yesterday and knew that I had to change something. I went to bed early in preparation of a tdisc morning run. With the admiral at home visiting the family the workouts tend to get canceled in the mornings. 6:00am I recieved a text from the coach..."canceled?" I layed in bed for a few minutes and then replied "nope!"
We went for a good long run which consisted of a route down around the waterfront. We wanted to check out the regis and kelly situation. It was great to see so many people out and about bright and early. It's been awhile since I recieved the runners high. As I was driving home I could feel that my morale had changed. I felt like I was on top of the world again. It's really hard to believe but Tdisc really does change lives. It was then that I decided to blog again. This blog was meant to encourage and that what i'm going to continue to do with it. My personal life has become quite busy but i've decided to blog on a weekly basis. Not sure on the exact days but I will blog at least once a week.

Tonight I was back at edfit! Feeling great I decided to bike in and then bike home. For those of you that have not tried outdoor edfit then I really encourage you to try it. It's a circuit workout!

A few housekeeping duties to take care of. Rumours are beginning to swirl that bull is officially done with Tdisc. We are working on getting confirmation from the bull himself. Also, all of us at Tdisc and bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com would like to wish Happy Birthday to blog follower Karine! Tdisc thanks you for your valued support!

Alright, I'm off to bed! Back in the pool in the morning.

Back!

It's been wayyyyy too long that i've been away from Tdisc nation. It's been a wild few months in Tdisc land. The season is upon us...with the relay only 2 weeks away panic has set in. What has changed.....Captain Tdiscgreggy is engaged. What hasn't changed....the admiral's want to be bagged morning after morning. Again, all credit goes to the admiral for getting us where we are today.

The bull has gone home in preparation for the season. We miss you bull....come back soon! As the slogan goes at tdisc...."He may not win the race, but he'll make the admiral win it!"

April 24th/10 is a day i'll never forget. I had reached the most mentally unstable point in my life. As I hit midweek in preparation for the 2nd race of the season I had made the decision that I would not be racing. The catch...I had not notified the team. I struggled the mornings leading up to look them in the eye knowing that I was going to bail on Saturday. On friday I skipped the team pregame run for what I called "some extra rest for the race." The thought of skipping the race pushed my food addiction to a whole knew level. With chicken fingers, licorice, and cold pizza in my stomach I tossed and turned as I set my alarm for 10am. I woke at 8 and never went back to sleep. I laid there in bed as the race began....Picturing the course...knowing where the boys were. I sat on the side of the bed...devastated that I hung my beloved tdisc out to dry. Bloated, tired, and bull low...I had hit rock bottem! The pain of a race was nothing to the pain I felt that morning. Never again...

All hitting pb's in the first race of the season Tdisc had reached a new level. Excitement is on the rise as we prepare for our second shot at the Red Island Relay. TDisc1 has decided to switch their rotation in hopes of dethroning tdisc1 of their silver medal. Two months ago the rumours began to swirl that the admiral was exploring options of a new partner, but just like last year they have brought it back together just in time.

That's enough for tonight....

Wednesday Mix-up

"I'm just running like this."(in shorts and a tshirt)- A disgusted bull low over the decision to run outside.

I hate Wednesdays! It's one day that I dread every single week. Today I woke up to rain smashing off my window. Why do I do this was the first thing that crossed my mind and what the frig am I going to wear was the second. I quickly grabbed some stuff and made my way to the TTF.

Everyone had packed outdoor running gear except for the bull. "Why don't I get any emails?" Asked a bull kicking his track pants across the floor. It turned out to be a turning point in the rookie and the bull's relationship. In a time of need Vessey offered bull a sweater. Bull was still not happy with the decision but we went outside anyways. We took 3 steps out into the rain...took a quick vote and went back inside for the run. There was some Jawing going up the stairs but like all good teams do we put it behind us and moved on to the track.

Again....I hate Wednesdays! First km was alright...did fine on the stairs as well. Second km....I quit tdisc. On the stairs I decided to pull out of the Bunny hop. Third km....I rejoined Tdisc. Third set of stairs I quit texting. fourth km...I was back doing the bunny hop. Just another day in the life of Bryan. For those looking for inspiration....close your eyes. This all came after 18 months of training. Nope! it doesn't get any easier.

A message from Kent MacPhee

With Prerace predictions looming...the boys have begun to feel the pressure. Coach Tdisckree responded to the captains email with the following....
"My pre-race prediction –

I will be right with Kris Taylor till the end of the Source for Sports Building (on the way out.)

I will have him in my sights till the stop sign….I’m gonna corner hard to stay with him until the lights. Doubt it will happen.

Someone on Tdisc might do good. I won’t.

Thanks,

Kent MacPhee (Bryan’s brother)"

A message from the Captain

Scratches:Josh Vessey (Monday morning Flu)

A couple house keeping items to deal with first. Umm...just like to wish Roberta Dowling Happy Birthday. Roberta has been a major supporter of the blog and Bryan. From all of us at Tdisc and bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com...have a great day!

Also, Congratulations to the Macdonald Flames for winning the The crapaud rec tournament! When we were down going into the third and who gave the pep talk....none other then our own Captain Tdiscgreggy!

The Monday morning cleansing went really well. We went for a nice short run and hit the showers early. Shortly after... the Captain sent a memo to the team.
"Happy Monday!

Good morning team, just wanted to say it was great to have the team back in good spirits today. I think Bull was low to start the run but with the chatter of Tdisc he was in great spirits leaving the TTF anxious to mold young minds.
This is a big week for the team with only 5 sleeps before the first race together as the "Big Five" and Vessey on tryout. I would like to see a couple podium finishes but it is only the first race, so we are still all working out the kinks.

Vessey on tryout had a great week ever since the tri last weekend, never missing a day. The whole team was disappointed when we received the news that he had caught a mysterious illness. There are critics that are rumoring that he is just burnt out, after a full week. The team is giving him the benefit of the doubt and expect nothing less than him to bounce back tomorrow in the pool.

I am really excited for a short run on Friday followed by a team breaky at Maids.

Big week ahead, can't wait til tomorrow

Captain

Coaches Week in Review

Coaches Comments on the week that was:

“I was happy with the production from the group this week. Monday was a pivotal day for our group, being without the Admiral on a Monday was tough. The day could have went south quick when talks of Maids came up in the changing room prior to the run. It was good the boys punched the clock on a good week.”

“Want to make mention of a guy on our team that just won’t quit. Josh Vessey was junk in the early going of this tryout agreement but has been a significant member of the group this week. He got the illustrious team pull-overs that no one else was able to seal the deal on. He has provided the entire team with good shampoo and body wash every workout. He also made it to every workout this week and put in a solid effort. He also made a commitment to triathlon this week when he bought a wetsuit. Real happy with what I saw from him this week…Good to have him back.”

On the week ahead:

“Gonna be good to have a race week. It usually scares me into a decent diet so that will help. The team is ready for a challenge. Even the Admiral is ready to race…he told me this morning when he was talking about his new shoes “ Can’t wait to let these puppies eat !! “ It’s gonna be a long season for Tdisc this year, but it’ll be good to get the feet wet in competition.”

Malone Calls it Quits

"Hold his Jacket Vessey." -coach Tdisckree refering to the Malone situation.

Last night I was a little late eating and it was curry. It's sooo good but frig it just shoots your stomach. I had trouble getting to sleep and found myself friggen around on Facebook. It did that for a bit then tried to go to sleep. Next thing I knew I was recieving a text. Frig! it's time to get up and Kree probably wants a ride. Wrong! It was 3:25am and it was Jason Malone. "Officially done till April 1st. Until then I can't be fully committed to the team. Once April rolls around i'll be ready to learn what it takes."

It's disappointing to see this happen again. We really didn't think he was going to be like Timmy and Domi. Come on Malone!

Today it was a bit of rough swim. Thank goodness the coach bagged us at the end. We finished with 10-100's on 2:00. I really lacked motivation but stuck with it and completed it.

I'd also like to give a shout out to Reta Holland. She was a long time member of the adversaries before finally jumping ship and becoming a part of Tdisc Nation.

Tomorrow we prepare for the DQ Run. Just over one week away.

Hi....I'm Byron!

Scratches: Jason Malone (Waiting to buy a new pair of shoes.)

"Pye...my mom just started reading the blog....can you please blog again?" -Bull

The above quote is one of the main reasons as to why I am blogging again. Bryan had questions about this team and in the end decided to step back, but lately I have come to realize that Tdisc is a family. The whole Birthday weekend was enough for me to buy back into this phenominal team. I'm glad to be back in control again...and bringing the news to Tdisc Nation. Today I am going to count down the top 10 things the fans have missed over the past 2 weeks.

10. "It's good to have you back Vess."-Tdisc
For a few weeks Vessey would show up and then disappear for awhile. Every time we would welcome him back with the above statement." This led to the Eyeopener heard around the world. I'm happy to announce that the clock has started again...he has not missed a day since the indoor tri. Good to have you back Vess!

9. Jason Malone was put on the clock by tdisc. After week one...the expectations were high for Malone. The novelty quickly wore off and the dog day ate him up. He showed up here and there before the tri and Retired the day after.

8. Tdisc Represents! Tdisc comes 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th at the Andrew's Sport Conditioning Indoor Triathlon 2010.

7. Tdisc Merchandise. Vessey has taken the bull by the horns and ordered team jackets that will arrive this week. It was a move that was greatly apprectiated by the team. Team dress code for races will be....team jacket, shirt and tie, and cargo shorts.

6. My Birthday! hmmm....26th year has been something else...Came in like a lamb....went out like a lion!

5. Admirals Feet! They are now under control. We are waiting on an official statement from the admiral but from what we here they are no longer eating his socks.

4. TDK irritates Fisher with blowout movement prior to Tdisc run." Day to Day.

TDK had this to say: " It literally felt like a cork coming out. It was loud too which I think scared the Admiral who was sitting on a chair in his usual spot just outside stall #2. By the time I realized what happend it was too late. I think it's just a slight rip so it shouldn't take too long to heal. I should be good to go tomorrow. As for the Admiral, I think he's changing stalls."

3. Tdk and Bull win The Maritime plank hold test. At a conditioning course held over the weekend...the boys outlasted a strong field to take the title.

2. Domi's boy! Nearly caused heart failure within Tdisc. If it wasn't for Byron...Domi was going to be knocked off!

1. Byron!!! enough said.

It's great to be back folks. If you have any questions for Tdisc than please comment at the bottem of the wall post and it will be answered in the next blog. Please leave your name. Thanks!

Glad to be back,
Byron

Captain Struggles as the Dog days continue

Scratches: Jason Malone(Flu like symptoms)
Josh Vessey (Car broke down)

As I sit here I'm dry heaving at the thought of the racing season being just around the corner. We have 11 days till our first minor race of the season. I'm not looking to peak right yet but with it being in our own back yard I want to have a good showing. I'm a little nervous for that reason! I've increased my swims, began spinning, and refocused myself for the run. We're still laying seeds, but beginning to plan for harvesting.

After the swim the captain released a statement on his website....www.TheCaptain.com.

"Today's swim for me was the worst of the 2010 year, I splashed around for a solid 45 mins. I could never find my stride, and felt tired the entire swim. The wall of Negativity was calling my name, but I would not listen and continued to swim. I continued to stay positive just chalked it up to a bad swim day and Thursday will be better.
It was great to have the pool not very busy and have the big five there hacking it out in the pool. The dog days are not over yet, and tdisc gets better everyday.

I am getting nervous about the indoor tri, because so many people know that we train, and I get thumped by a nobody than I will not be happy. This time last year I had a idea what is it like to run a 10k, but not race. I have no idea what to expect from a triathlon and even though I knew it was going to be extremely hard, it surpassed what I expected.
This year I am in better shape, I feel stronger, and am more confident in the pool. My biking has a long way to go, any will be my main focus as soon as the snow is gone.
Can't wait for tomorrow

Captain"

Our goal has always been to promote our lifestyle and the sport we've come to love. It took awhile....but you don't have to look to far now to see we are making headway.

The rumors of the dog days being over are starting to surface. With an extra hour of sunlight beginning on the weekend it is expected that Tdisc will call a news conference, where The Admiral will officially call an end to the Dog Days of '09-'10.

Malone Cramps on day 3

Scratches:Josh Vessey(no car)

This week has been a major statement week for Tdisc. Right from the drop of the hat on Monday we've pushed ourselves to the extreme through hump day. Today we arrived at the TTF in fairly good spirits. Noticeably absent was Josh Vessey. At 6:15am Josh had a phone conversation with the admiral. According to the admiral it went a bit like this...

Jv-"Can't make it...don't have a car."
Admiral-"ok"
Jv-"Are you mad at me?"
No-"No...but you're going to have to explain this to the bull."

....Vessey was quite shaken over the whole situation...unsure how the convo was left off.

The 6 of us piled into the much cooler cari pool and did our usual warmup. We then prepared for our cardio set. The coach was in the middle barking out orders and everyone was listening. The bull had to study so he just swam. At one point I looked up and the bull was spliting the D going right down the middle of the lane. Everyone seemed to swim well. As I was finishing up I went to turn at the other end when I heard...."he's pulling a vessey." I looked up to see malone holding on to the diving board, grabbing his leg and wincing in pain. He had officially experienced a pool cramp.

As we were leaving the pool area the media caught up with Malone. "Jason, can you talk a little bit about your first 3 days with Tdisc?" Jason nodded. "First off, I want to start by saying that I'm thrilled to be training with the TDisc family. Coming off a tough loss last night in triple overtime only to get home at 1 am, I struggled out of bed. But the TDisc core group pushed me into swim mode in the locker room. "I don't want to swim today" is exactly how the Admiral put it. Thanks for the motivation Breezer!
Im not going to lie, its been a battle thus far. The excitement of agreeing to the 100 day tryout officially wore of this morning, as I had to jump out of the pool with what is known as the 'Vessey cramp'. The pain I experienced reminded me of how far I have to go to even consider myself a part of this illustrious crew. TDiscGreggy has been there for me though, pushing me at the right times and keeping me motivated.
Hopefully things continue to move in the right direction. Im really looking forward to the upcoming road trip to the sweat lodge, as well as sleeping tonight. Thanks"

I think I speak for the team when I say it's been an honor to have Jason with us this week. He's given Tdisc the push we need coming out of the dog days.

They also caught up with the coach who had this to say...
"Been real pleased with how the team has responded in the pool the last two mornings. Good to see Jason Malone putting in a good effort. All the boys are buying in and making themselves better every day. There has been very little time spent hanging off the "wall of negativity."

"Just wanted to pass along a big "good luck" to Bull on his upcoming exams. Here at TDISC we value education, and Bull has been very diligent with his studies this semester. Let's hope all that hard work pays off Thursday."

Other housekeeping matters:

Live from the TTF

(It's 8pm et. The cameras are set up in the TTF lounge. With curtains all around the reporters move looking for a better position. By the entrance to the bathrooms a podium stands with 4 chairs in front containing the 4 members of Tdisc and 2 seats behind them containing Josh Vessey and Jason Malone.)

(TDP enters and addresses Tdisc Nation.)

Good Evening,

Thanks for coming. I'd first like to thank my teamates for the support that they've given to me over this past week and a half.(The admiral checks his watch.) I'm like everyone else...I have to follow the rules. I thought I could text and eat whatever I wanted, but I can't! I understand that i've made mistakes and I appologize to my team for putting them through this. (bull patterson is now asleep with a book in his hand.) I'm deeply sorry! I have gotten help and I'm ready with my teamates support to tackle this all over again. I'm not sure how often or when but I will blog again. This is my problem....NOT my teams. So Please....leave them ALONE. Thank-you!

(TDP looks up at the reporters and begins to blog live.)

Scratches: Tdiscgreggy(Too Unorganized)

I woke up feeling great. After getting the realization email from the captain last week that said we are less than 2 weeks away from our first running race and 90 days away from the RIR. It's a wake up call that the season is just around the corner. We've been all over the map lately and it's time to focus in on the goal.

Last night the team recieved a text from the captain..."hockey...done. volleyball...done. working weekends....done. Tdisc....Just getting started!" Everyone on the team understands that time is now our enemy.

I recieved a text from the captain and then recieved a text from kree saying that someone else has stepped forward and acknowledged that they would too like a better lifestyle. When I woke up I could hear the sheets of rain smashing off the window..so I texted the coach "some nasty morning." He replied "plan for the worst." Shortly after I recieved another text...this time from the captain "Not going to make it, didn't get home till after midnight. Too unorganized. Sorry boys." It was disappointing and with the end of the olympics and the weather...I was low going to the TTF. I was quickly snapped out of it when I entered the changing room and bull looked at me and said..."You're low!" Then I looked and saw Jason Malone who had arrived for his first day. My mood had changed...again.

I went with the bull and Malone, and Vessey and the admiral teamed with the coach. We did 30 min bike sprints and then met at the track to run 3k. Chicken wings give bull gas so the running order went as follows. The admiral on the left and the bull on the right. The coach was behind the admiral, and I was behind the coach. Followed by Vessey and then Malone behind him. There was a big gap behind the bull for obvious reasons. We did everything we could to drop Malone today...the pace was outrageous. I had both shoe laces undone but kept running because if I stopped then I was a lap down. It worked as a great cleansing from the hockey party the night before.

I'm now going to have the bull come up and address the Jason Malone situation. Bull?

(Bull steps to the podium)

"Dear Tdisc Nation,

I'm extremely excited about the up and coming weeks. Jason Malone has agreed to terms on the Tdisc 100 day tryout. He has come aboard not knowing what he is getting himself into but there was a strong preformance in spin and then the stiff run this morning.

Time will only tell if he will last the grueling 100 day tryout.

Does Jason Malone have the stones to stick with Tdisc?

Good to have you back TDP

TDBull"

(Bull hugs TDP and then the whole team.)

Thanks bull! It's an exciting time for Tdisc. I look forward to riding shotgun in this journey towards a better life. Good luck Malone!

Just a reminder of the Tdisc sweat lodge that is quickly approaching. For those who haven't gotten your waiver in, can u please get that in soon. If you don't know what a sweat lodge is then check out http://www.welcomehome.org/rob/sweat/sweat.html. It is gaurenteed to be a blog for the ages.

Something the fans don't know. Ummm....the admiral is battling a bad case of dry feet.(everyone looks at the admiral who is sitting with shorts and high socks on.) He moisturizes his feet and then puts socks on to keep the moisture in. The admiral has been quoted as saying "They're (bleep) putting holes in my socks" and "They're a (bleep) mess!" Stay tuned for the admirals segment titled 5 ways to deal with dry feet.

Thank you all for coming.

The end of an Era

Dear Tdisc Nation,

I regret to inform you that as of Sunday, Feb. 21/10 I will be stepping down as author of the blog. Please understand that this was not a decision that was easy for me to make. Tdisc Nation always had and always will have a place in my heart.

Some people will ask me...how did u know it was time? All I can say to that is...You just know! The hours that I have put into those 317 posts were some of the happiest hours of my life. When the blog was formed on Jan. 1/09 I never thought I'd see this day. It was formed as a way of recording, but quickly changed to become a way of inspiring. If one person was inspired through this blog than I have done my job.

I'm the greatest blogger of all time! 18000+ hits earned me rookie of the year in 2009. The stats speak for themselves. All good things must come to an end. I look forward to what's next.

With Great respect for Tdisc Nation,
Bryan

Come onnnnnn Weekend!

Scratches: The admiral(Parenting)
Josh Vessey (Too late at the jug)

It's been a really long week for me. Even with the storm days I've still battled to get where I am this week. Today I arrived at the pool with a full car load. My first stop was bull's house. His truck has no lights. After doing that I went 5 minutes down the road and picked up the coach. There was no fear of us being late today.

After getting to the changing room on time I sat and stared at the floor for an extended period of time. Then I posed on the pool deck with goggles on for a few minutes trying to think of ways to get out of swimming today. I suggested the hot tub but they didn't bite on it. In I went. We had a great swim today for all. Bull worked on his cardio and after the swim said "I think I'm ready." The coach, the captain, and I did a warm-up followed by 10 100's. I felt great!

Yesterdays cancellation of Tdisc practice went through all the needed requirements. Bull started the process with a text to me at 6:05am. Then after no response went to the coach by making a phone call at 6:08am. Then I got a call from the bull at 6:10am. The coach then called me and said he was waiting on the official word from the admiral. 6:15 we get confirmation from the admiral that it is called off. 6:16am I text the captain. 6:17am the captain calls the admiral to makes sure. 6:18am Vessey is notified. 6:20 Everyone is back to bed.

Tonight it's edfit. Tomorrow it's bike and weights.

The emotional roller coaster known as the dog days.

"I'm Tired today."- A sleep deprived Admiral
"Are you still low?"- Captain Tdiscgreggy(referring to my Bryan moments over the weekend)
"I don't feel like i'm getting any better in the pool."- Josh Vessey

Physically I was training at a high level over the weekend...but mentally it was crushing blow leading into another week of the dog days. Some boys took Monday off but the admiral decided to go for a short run. The bull who arrived at 6:45 ran on his own while the admiral and I opted for a later start.

I went to bed last night knowing that I had to pick up bull who was having truck problems. After seeing Jake kick off Gia(What an idiot!) I set my alarm a bit earlier and hit the hay. I woke up feeling great. We arrived early for the 7am swim time. That's when my emotions went bad again. Here's a run down of my mood changes over the morning:
7:00- It's great to be here today...can't wait to swim.
7:05- Frig I don't want to get in the pool. Why do I do this?
7:10- I'm swimming great and decide to push a bit harder.
7:15- I'm hanging off the rope and have decided to quit the blog after getting passed while kicking.
7:20- Start an endurance set with the captain. I decide i'm going to blog after all.
7:25- Miss counted.....contemplating just doing some skullies.
7:45- Finish the endurance set. Have the swimmer's high. I'm on top of the world!
7:55- Sitting in the lockerroom, struggling to find the motivation to shower.
7:56- Decide to quit facebook!
8:05- Check facebook...consider changing my status. Scanned my whole homepage.
8:30- Had too much for breakfast. I'm bloated...consider skipping edfit.
8:45- Decide to go on a strict diet...and think about what to blog about.
8:50- Walk by the candy dish....unphased!
10:00- Sit in to 2 bisquits and a pound of fresh bacon for coffee break. Bloated again....decide to quit texting and the blog.
10:30- Send the coach a text. Ready to put a drive on in the training. Quit facebook again.
11:00- Hurt my back...i'm ready for a job change.
12:00- Blogging...while sending a text, with another page open...which is 3 profile's deep in facebook, and have my food addiction under control.

Just another day.....

Just a reminder of the fan poll that is in the top right hand corner. As of right now it will be the bull speaking directly to Tdisc nation on Friday. Tonight it's edfit....tomorrow it's Sprints.

Finally....Friday!

Again I was up way past my triathlete bedtime. Workouts in the morning and workouts at night, combined with late night activity is usually the recipe for disaster. I don't know how I'm holding it together today. It's just shows how far I have come emotionally from where I was last year. Last year Bryan would have showed up and went low and probably released a negative statement on the blog. Not this year!

When I went to bed last night I thought to myself. Friday is usually never that hard. I can do bike sprints without totally killing myself and I don't mind heavy legs. Well...today was a totally different story. The coach had a workout designed for 30min on the bike. Coach ran one group while the bull ran our group. It was much harder than I thought it was going to be. After we finished we met downstairs by the rink, where we did 16 sets of stairs from bottom to top. It hurt! I just do everything I can to try and keep pace...these guys are machines. Vessey summed it up best when he answered to where the coach was? "He's sitting in a chair at the top...he thinks he's gonna puke." A usual light day turned into a Friday Bagger. Tdisc planted another seed!

We haven't done a lot of long runs lately, so tomorrow we are hoping to get back into the routine of Saturday long runs.

Looking forward to a rest day,

Plant the seed

Scratches: The admiral(Parenting)
Bull Patterson(Night with Youssi)

I've been completely exhausted after my long day on Tuesday. Although I didn't have trouble getting up this morning, I found that my body was really tired. I just had trouble getting going. For Example: Arrived at 6:55. Entered the changing room at 7:04. Left the changing room at 7:10. Sat on the pool deck with goggles on till 7:14. Began swimming at 7:18. This should take 5 minutes. The not so good part about it....The rest of the team followed suit.

For being tired I swam well today. I started with a warm up and then did 1250m consecutively. Finished with a cool down. It is disappointing for the team not to have the admiral and bull in the lineup this morning. It is also disappointing for fellow triathletes swimming beside. One triathlete mentioned that he swims better when he has the admiral there racing against him. Pushs everyone else in the pool.

We stopped by the hottub for a few minutes following the swim. It was there that the coach gave Vessey an inspirational pep talk. "You see Vessey. You planted a seed today. You continue to work hard and plant seeds, because in July you harvest those seeds and all that hard work planting pays off." Stated Coach Tdk. Vessey and the Coach high fived right there. Vessey now understood why he was pushing himself in February.

Tonight it's edfit...tomorrow it's bike sprints and weights.

Starting over!

Today was a new day for Josh Vessey. In a phone conversation that I had with him after the announcement of the vote he said "I understand...thanks for the support." He arrived on time even though he got stuck in the driveway. The saviour.....setting the alarm clock 15 minutes early. That's what the stipulations were made for.

I was worried upon my entry into the water today but quickly found a groove. I found a way to hammer out 1500m. I was really impressed with the way I swam but I'm still not where I need to be in the water. Since it was a full house in the pool today I didn't get the chance to swim with the boys. From what I heard there was a bit of racing going on...the admiral was defending his title in the 50m freestyle.

It's great to be back with Tdisc and into the triathlete routine. Tonight it's edfit...tomorrow it's bike sprints and weights.

Vessey Survives!

By a vote of 3-2, Vessey narrowly survives. With a vote of 2-2 the admiral deliberated for a half an hour then made his decision. He released this statement..."As the tie break vote, I vote Josh Vessey to remain with Tdisc.
Upon Stipulations:

1) 100 day count goes back to zero
2) has no authority what so ever to cancel a workout
3) must set his alarm 10 mins earlier
4) needs to come up with better excusess than the ones he used.
5) volunteers to be Kree's personel lint brush
6) He and bull get drunk together and get back on the same page for the Red Isle."

Members Vote

For Immediate Release:

It is with great regret I inform you that tonight at 7pm there will be a secret ballot vote to determine the status of Josh Vessey. Over the past number of days, his future with TDISC has been in question. As coach of the team, I must bring this issue to a head. On Monday Feb. 1 Josh Vessey orchestrated a series of events and text messages that led to the cancellation of a workout. He "decieved and tricked" the Admiral - something that is never taken lightly. On Wednesday, Feb. 3, Josh Vessey missed a workout due to a power outage that knocked his alarm clock out. After further investigation (Tdisc called Jason Flick at Maritime Electric), the report was untrue and in fact he slept in. Today, Feb 8, Josh Vessey missed the entire TDISC workout.
During the run, the fate of Josh Vessey was discussed at great length amongst the members. It was agreed that something needed to be done.

In recognition of these past events, I TDISCKREE call for a secret ballot vote. All five members will cast a ballot at 7pm AST tonight - Feb 8. The following will be the procedure:

At 7pm all members of TDISC will text the Admiral with their vote. It will either read:

"VESSEY STAYS"
or
"VESSEY IS OUT"

Admiral will recieve the texts. IF it is a tie, then he will cast the deciding ballot. If he doesn't feel that he has sufficient information, Vessey may be called to Testify at the Admirals house. In this event, all members will also attend as well as the CRM in order to keep a record of the minutes.

Admiral will then release the count to TDISCPYE. Vessey's fate will be revealed on the blog at 730 AST.

Regrettfully,

TDK

I'm Back!

"I shoveled fast this morning so I would be on time...then people show up late." -Admiral (ticked)

"He's *&#@*$@ Gone!"- Bull

I must say...I'm glad to be back bringing the daily events to Tdisc nation. I had a great vacation. As a triathlete...sometimes we need rest, and that I did. Other then a bad case of Tdisckree bowls, I feel great. I'm ready to face the dog days head on.

I'm extremely upset with what has happened to my dearest Tdisc while I was gone. It's no secret that the blog holds guys accountable and from what i've heard, there was no accountability while I was gone. That all changes this week. Today's run was a statement run. In the words of the admiral "it was a good ol' fashion Tdisc run." The conditions were terrible!

The biggest news is definatly the fate of Josh Vessey. As talked about below...he missed a big run. I will admit that I was ready to follow the bull and can him right then. When I came up the stairs to the TTF following the run, my mindset changed. I saw a vacant workout bag by the locked door with a bag of bagels sitting next to it. Shortly there after Vessey came walking in....low as a snake. He handed everyone a bagel with strawberry jam. They made a mistake at tim's and only put 5 in so he didn't have one. The bull was not being swayed at all and made no bones about it that he wants vessey gone. A short dispute started and ended then surfaced again in by the showers. Something had to be done!

Tonight will be the first time Tdisc has gone to a secret ballot in order to reveal someone's fate. I see a bit of myself in Vessey. Until I got paired with the admiral for the Red Isle and began fearing for my life, I was late and quitting and just getting smashed by the dog days. For me I was able to get it back on track, he needs to do the same. My ballot tonight will not be a secret. I've voting for Vessey to stay. I had a meeting with him this morning and I believe he can commit 110% to Tdisc. Before leaving I wished him good luck...and all he could say was "I'm nervous."

Tdisc isn't for everyone. That's why we have the 100 day trial. We'll see tonight if Josh Vessey survives to see another day with Tdisc. As of right now I'd say that the vote sits at 1-1. I don't think the bull can be swayed.

Till later tonight,

Vacation mode

I sent the text to the boys early this morning letting them know that I would not be at the workout this morning. With two workouts yesterday and a late hockey game I had nothing left to give this morning and decided that it would be best to get some rest before leaving for my trip tomorrow. I'm going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I'm really looking forward to relaxing and letting my body rest. It's been a tough routine that i've been in since christmas. The team has been working hard and will continue to workout hard.

I will not be blogging from the DR. The next week will be known as blog if you want week. Tdisc members will have the oportunity to keep the fans updated by entering a blog here and there.

Get hammered by the dog days

Today was extremely tough. After the weekend, getting up for a run in -10 weather is really tough. As a team we ran quite well. Although I hung on for most of the run I felt pretty well. We did the usual down broadway past KRock run. You know it's winter running when you have to keep wiping your eyelids in order to see.

Last night a few texts went back and fourth with Josh Vessey. He was not pleased with the decision to be put on probation. I explained it the best I could. It's an honor to be a part of Tdisc and we just felt like he was slightly taking advantage of his tryout agreement. The captain gave him a private pep talk this morning. Rumour has it that he told him to shake it off and be ready to go. According to the fan poll things don't look good for the rookie.

Tonight is ed-fit and tomorrow we are back in the pool.

It's a very special day today. 30 years ago our big gun came into the world. On behalf of Tdisc and all of us at bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com happy birthday Admiral.

Josh Vessey put on Probation

Scratches: Josh Vessey (Ankle)

Bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com has confirmed that Tdisc has put Josh Vessey on Probation. Basically what this means is that he has been given his final warning. One more missed day and he's back to 100 days again. Be sure to check out the new poll in the right hand column....Will Josh Vessey get cut?

Friday is finally here...it's been another long week. We did bike sprints this morning followed by a bull power abs workout. Spirits were pretty high considering that we had to put someone on probation today. Bull is Josh Vessey's mentor and all he had to say today was "I'm really disappointed."

Tomorrow has become optional. For most it will be a run and ed-fit.

Also, it's the big 2-7 for Tdiscbull. Happy Birthday bull from all of us here at bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com.

What Tdisc means to me by The Captain

Todays Scratches: The admiral (Parenting)
Tdiscpye (H1N1 Vaccine)

Yesterday was a day full of shots. I got one in each shoulder. Thinking nothing of it I just continued on with my regular routine. So I went to bed like usual...Great time...just a little after 10. 2 a.m rolls around and i'm feeling really sore in my right shoulder. So I got up and moved it around...I could hardly lift my arm above my shoulder. First thought "I can't swim." Frig! so as I was laying there in my bed I started going through my swimming stroke....couldn't do it. So I text the coach to let him know. 6 am rolls around and still nothing from the coach. So I call...still nothing. Not wanting to leave the boys hanging I sat on the side of my bed and waited for a response. Finally I touched base with the coach aroun 6:20am, back to bed I went.

Yesterday was a nightmare on the legs. This years camp has really kicked into a tougher gear. Yesterday we did some tough sprints followed byEverything should be as simple as it is, but not simpler. - Albert Einstein legs, legs, and more legs at the ttf.

Tdisc means a lot to us. Today I have the honour of presenting to the fans an article written by our Captain that featured in yesterday's Toronto Sun.

Last September, I joined a group called Team Discovery. I joined because it seemed like a good way to get in shape and have some fun with some great athletes through the tough winter months. I never really knew if we would race or do a triathlon, but I was going along for the ride.

As time went on and training stayed constant, we seen guys come and go but the big four always stuck it out. I admit if I was not living with the Admiral I would not be on this team. If I was behind schedule in waking up, (happened a lot) Admiral would pop his head in and say you coming to Greggy? and I would respond yep and off we would go. I know that there was a lot of this going on at the MacPhee household because the Coach and blog master shared a home.

When this team started, I was working, going to school, coaching and had a pretty demanding social life. Last year before Tdisc I never thought I would wake up at 6:00am and exercise? that soon changed, I NEVER thought I would go to bed before 10:00pm??? that soon changed, I never thought that a workout would become more important than a night out partying, very quickly changed.

For me 2010 is a big year. I have changed my sleeping habits, social life, diet, (big time) and put everything towards fitness. Tdisc has been a major impact on my life, I eat healthier, exercise twice a day, rarely drink or go to the bars, and always feel I can push myself more. I am looking forward to seeing the outcome of all my hard work when it comes to the triathlon season. This is the year I get to see the benefits of my sacrifices.

Tdisc really does change lives.....

Captain Tdiscgreggy

Tonight it's Ed-Fit. Tomorrow we are back to more legs.

Just like to welcome a new addition to Tdisc nation...Josh Whiteway. On behalf of Tdisc and bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com we say thank you for following our Journey.

Coaches Mid-month Report

The following was posted on Coach TDISCKREE's twitter account on Tuesday morning.

" As coach of the team, I am pleased with how things are going so far this month. Everyone is working hard and being on time. We've pushed the envelope in terms of our workouts but TDISC is not approaching 2010 like any other year. This is the year TDISC get's off the porch and plays with the big dogs. I look forward to embracing the dog days and gaining momentum into the Bluephin 5k."

On each member :

Vessey - "Love how he's bought in from the get-go. Some people say that the fear of failure is greater motivation then the prize of victory. This guy is fighting for survival everyday and gaining a lot of respect from the other 5 of us."

Pye -" We haven't seen the extreme highs and lows we are used to from this guy. Me and the captain granted him a week off in late Jan to go to a wedding in the Dominican because he's worked hard this fall and winter. He'll come back energized."

Bull -"When I caught him sleeping in the middle of the day at the TTF this week I realized this guy is giving TDISC everything he's got. Bull has gone from being the rookie to being a good mentor for Vessey. It's good to see."

Admiral -" When I heard he sprinted the telephone polls last thursday on his own...I first thought he was nuts, then I laughed, then I said to myself " thats why he's our big gun." he's eating the dog days for breakfast this time around."

Captain - " When we chose Tdiscgreggy as captain we knew we'd need a good leader to get this team through the dog days of winter. He's been on time and motivational at all workouts...it's been impressive."

Coach - " I am feeling good about my performance so far. My bowels have been in check and I haven't even thought of retirement yet. I am more focused and relaxed this time around."

Keep on Keepin on

Today was a dog day! Everyone had the same opinion about today, that it was extremely hard to get going this morning. As hard as it was the team still put in a good morning. We ran for 40 minutes finishing hard on the backstretch.

The rookie(josh vessey) continues his quest to be the 6th member of tdisc. It's no secret that last time we as a team wanted him to fail. This time it's a different story. The rookie is being mentored along the way. Saturday night around midnight he was spotted outside The Jug getting advice from Bull "1ke"(pronounced ike) Patterson. This morning he was given advice from the coach on how to run with runners trots. It's a long journey but so far he proven that he's a different guy this time around.

This week the schedule has been tinkered with. We will switch our swim days to Tuesday and Thursday. It's going to be a tough week for Tdisc. The highlight of the week will come when we celebrate the birth of the big gun on Friday.

300th blog post

300 posts! It just seems like yesterday that I was storm stayed and coming up with this friggen thing. This week has been a bad week for the blog. Operation SFA has been taking up all my blogging time. With a workout in the morning and either Yoga, Ed fit, or hockey in the evenings, my down time has been rest.

It was a tough week for Tdisc. We put in some hard mornings at the TTF. Tuesday the whole team did a bike and leg workout. Fire an ed fit and a hockey game on top of that and it's a full day. On wednesday we hit the pool. We swam pretty hard for close to an hour. Everyone kind of did there own thing. Tdisckree battled a bad wing and kicked for most and the admiral had a beef with his stamina so he ripped off a large amount of consecutive laps. Thursday morning we did arguably the toughest sprint workout ever on the track. I don't often find myself bent over gasping for wind but on that day was. Other than Bull nearly taking out an 80 year old man everything went well. The admiral was a game day scratch due to parenting, but admitted later that he ran around the block at home sprinting the poles after he finished work. Thursday night I was back at ed fit for the second time this week. It has really been catching on and last night it drew a record crowd of 23.

I woke up this morning to a text that said "I don't have a ride, see you at yoga."-Josh vessey. My first reaction was "that frigger is pulling the shoot." I tossed and turned for a few minutes thinking of excuses not to go. I came up with a lot but knew the admiral was going to be sitting there waiting so I got up and took off for the pool. Tdg(work), TDK(upper body) and Josh Vessey (no ride) were all scratches from the swim. The swim class has turned into a real bagger every friday morning. Today was no different.

Tonight was my third trip to yoga. Tdg, Tdk, and Josh Vessey also came with me to give it a try. I'm becoming much more comfortable with my breathing and some of the positions. My hip flexors and hips are extremely tight. Tonight by times I thought they were going to pop. It's great!

Tomorrow it's a long run in the morning and then Ed.fit. Rest day on Sunday.

Also just like to wish our captain...Tdiscgreggy a very Happy Birthday. He turns 27 Tomorrow.

Josh Vessey speaks

Tdisc believes in second chances. When Mr. Vessey opted out of his tryout agreement it was almost like a slap in the face to Tdisc. Well I think I speak on behalf of the team when I say that we were shocked when he decided to give it another go. We could see from the start that he was a more mature Josh Vessey. We decided to start the clock again. With 7 full days in he addressed the media just outside the TTF.

Josh Vessey:First off all, a big thanks to all the members of the team for accpeting me back on for a try out agreement. I'm a new man this time around and am determined to make the most of this glorious opportunity. Having done this once before has better prepared me for what to expect and I am much more mentally focused to tackle this grueling winter training with team TDISC.

I realize that there is much doubt surrounding my return to TDISC and the idea of me making through the vigorous 100 day tryout. But I am going to let that negativity roll right off me because I am feeling great being reunited (bright and early, every morning) with the team and I know they have my back. I couldn't be happier with the team support that I've been receiving and being as it has become the one and only Bull Patterson's job to coach and mentor me through the try out, I'm basically set for success.

I know it won't be easy, but would i want it to be? Absolutely not. That's not what TDISC is all about.. it's about dedication, perseverance, teamwork, and punctuality (right, Admiral?).

Thanks again for the opportunity to be apart of something this special. Second chances don't happen everyday, better take advantage of this one.

We had a good run this morning. It's hard to believe that it is almost the middle of January and we are still running outside. Although it was quite cold, the conditions ideal for running. The captain and I hit up yoga again tonight. I feel like I had a better night. I was more familiar with the positions. I really look forward to going again on Friday. Tomorrow it's bike and weights followed by Ed Fit in the evening. Op. SFA is in it's second week. Feeling great!

Friday morning bagger

It's common knowledge now that when you swim on Friday morning you are going to be completely gassed. There were times when I literaly thought that I was going to drowned. The funniest part of the swim was when I was doing my warmup and I looked up to see Vessey out of the water and stretching his hamstrings on the diving board. It's even funnier to see him up there with phelps tights that are too tight and often show half of his crack. I have to give him full credit for sticking it out for the whole class. When I got out my body was totally exhausted and I probably could have eaten the back end out of skunk I was so hungry. The showers were a little different then usual...it was basically body care products 101. I now know a lot about face creams.

Operation SFA has got me back to where I was before christmas. I'm sore but I feel great going into an off day. Today the team ran but with hockey the Captain and I had to scratch. My off day will be today and tomorrow will be a run.

Anyone interested in joining tdisc(w) please contact Tdisc as soon as possible. There is some serious interest that may lead to a start date as early as this Monday.

Looking forward to an off day,

Dropped......again!

"I'm going to prove them wrong." -Josh Vessey (talking about the results so far in the fan poll.) p.s he's still there.

It was good to have that big break at christmas to rest the body, but getting back to where I was before has been tough. My food addiction flared and over the holidays I gained 9lbs. As a team we gained 46lbs. For me it was extremely disappointing. I didn't really notice it until ed fitness on Tuesday night. I felt really heavy throughout the whole workout. It was at that point that I decided opertation SFA had to come into effect. SFA simply stands for Stop Friggen Around. So i'm working hard on my food addiction as well as 1 yoga and 2 ed fitness classes on top of the usual tdisc workouts. Operation SFA is in it's 3rd day.

As I walked in the TTF this morning I looked up at the tv to see the movie Rick and Dick Hoyt playing. It was put on by the coach to motivate the boys as it was gettting late in a tough week. We sat for a few minutes then the admiral piped up "alright let's go." As I was going upstairs to the track I could feel the affects of operation SFA. As we began our first set around the track I knew I was going to struggle through it. So we did 6 laps of the track then 5 sets of stairs 5 times. As I hit the 3rd set I was dropped by the group. It's always disappointing to get left behind but with a year under my belt I understood that good runners have to keep getting better as well. This is what I needed...this is what got me better last year...and this is what's going to get me better this year. After we finished that we separated into 4 corners and sprinted from corner to corner. It was a tough workout...something Tdisc really needed.

On Wednesday we had a good hard 45 minute swim. I was in a lane with the admiral and the coach and basically just tried to stay on their heals. It was great!

Tonight i'm back at Ed Fitness. Tomorrow it's swim class.

Tdp and Tdg try yoga

It's no secret within tdisc that my flexibility isn't where it needs to be. I've often talked about doing something about it but it just never seemed to happen. Well yesterday the text came in from the captain. "yoga tonight at 5:30." I quickly responded back with "not a chance." A few more texts followed and next thing I knew I was in the car and on my way in to yoga. I was clean terrified. It was a very comfortable setting, and I found a way to kinda hide at the back. For the first little bit I couldn't look over at the captain without laughing. All I could think of was wow if only my grandfather knew about this. It has always been preached in the MacPhee family that men don't do yoga, men work! The captain was doing some kind of fancy breathing that kept making me laugh, but I would quickly refocus as I began to feel my groins tear. Oh frig, then the crazy positions started. My worst fear had come true. I was lying on my stomach reaching back trying to grab my feet. Unfortunately my hands and feet weren't coming together. Next thing I knew the teacher is reefing on my feet trying make the connection. My back was cracking and it felt like I was going to pop a blood vessel in my head. Then I hear..."just relax and let your body feel the stretch." I almost snickered as my head was about to explode. Then my hands slipped...my feet catapulted back at such a speed that if I was near the wall they would have went right through it. I became much more relaxed after that because I pretty well figured I couldn't get any worse. Believe it or not I actually really enjoyed the class. I can see it becoming very helpful for my triathlon training. Unfortunately for me I had to start somewhere.

I was quite tired getting up for the workout this morning. The yoga took more out of me then I thought it would. We started off on the bikes and yes Vessey made it to day 2. We also had the pleasure of working side by side with pei's own...ordinary joe's. Some found it a little tough to stay focused with the admiral only a few feet away rag dolling the bike pedals. Tdiscbull put us through about a half an hour of sprints then we went into a weights set. Our focus in the second half is going to be on our legs. Today we did three different leg sets with abs in between. We paired up today and Tdiscbull was matched with Josh Vessey. He has been giving the daunting task of mentoring Vessey along this journey. The coach then gave the bull a little incentive. Pointing at Vessey tdisckree announced "if he makes it 100 days, you're an assistant captain."

Tonight it's back to Ed. Fitness. The greatest circuit workout on earth. For more info on it just contact the blog.

It's not a resolution- It's a lifestyle.

As I packed my bag last night and prepared my running gear for this mornings workout I couldn't help but feel a little excited. I set my alarm for 6:18...due to the pending weather conditions I gave myself 2 extra minutes. That move paid off as I arrived at the TTF just as the admiral pulled in. We walked in together and like usual as I approached the door I slowed up to make sure the admiral got to walk in first. "Vessey...what are u doing here?" a surprised admiral asked. As I turned the corner I spotted him. "I'm back boys." said Josh Vessey half pleading to the Admiral. After we got over the initial shock...we said "good to have you back Vessey." Rule 22 in the Tdisc handbook clearly states that we cannot deny anyone this lifestyle. The clock has started again. Be sure to check out the new fan poll in the right hand column. How long with Vessey make it this time?

It was great to be back with the team. The conditions weren't great for an outdoor run but everyone was pull of pee and vinegar so we went outside. We went for about 40 minutes and then finished with a lengthy stretch. It was very icy but we didn't have any injuries other than a few severe cases of the runners trots. Shortly after the run TDK released a short statement. "I'm pretty pleased with what I saw today. I was real surprised to see Vessey at the TTF this morning - this just might be the time he makes it 100 days. Everyone seemed to be tired but in good spirits. It's good to have a unit of 6 heading into the 2010 season. In an attempt to keep all six guys safe I am appointing a safety comitee within TDISC - Tdiscadmiral will be the chair and Josh Vessey will work as his side-kick. they will look into ways that will make the runs a little safer for each member (ie. reflective vests, monitoring running/weather conditions."

I'd also like to reveal January's theme that was brought forward by TDISCBULL :

"IT'S NOT A RESOLUTION - IT'S A LIFESTYLE."

Nice job on that one Bull.

TDK "

We held a team meeting on Saturday night in which we discussed the next few months. It was decided that Tdisc had to up the pace. Longer morning workouts had to be in store. It is the year of the triathlon orrrrr the 70.3? Yes you read it right. Tdisc has made a new goal. On August 29th we will compete in a Half Ironman. It will be double what we did last year. More details and team goals to come.

The blog turns 1!

I just don't know what to say tonight. I'm low! I've sickened myself on food and have hardly worked out at all. I need a night to regroup before I bring my thoughts to the blog.

Big news is coming folks...
