Press Release

"This coach aint happy !"
TDK Calls out Team Members

Charlottetown:

If Tdisc thought that september was a hard month(camp) they better keep
the massage therapist on speed dial for the next little while. Coach
Tdiskree was livid at Tdisc practice this morning and used the media to
vent a little and also publicly call out certain members. " We had a
good camp, and then a real good run on Saturday. I decide the team
needed an extra day off on Monday so I give it to them. What do I get
for it ? A big slap in the face." He was refering to one missing
member (tdiscpye) and a poor showing by the rookie Bull Patterson.
"Tdiscpye says he has a sore side but I caught him rooting around the
left over chicken balls last night at 9 o'clock. If he's hurt he should
be over at Physio with Rita right now getting fixed." "I had to tell
Bull Patterson to get off the wall like 10 times today, and all he kept
telling me was that he was taking steps back." As for the other members
of the team TDK was less critical. "I'm placing Tdiscgreggy on the 90
day Injured REserve for his wrist." In doing so, he named Tdiscadmiral
interim captain when Tdiscgreggy is not at workouts. The coach had this
to say about his big gun " Our big gun was thrown off a bit early on
today. There were a lot of good swimmers in the pool around him and he
was trying to race them all. I told him to focus on the lady in his
lane. He took my advice and beat the 60 year old woman by 23 laps...just
fleeced her." In what could be also seen as a bold move, the coach added
another member to the training run on Saturday. Scott Dickieson was
added to the saturday workout. "He has an impressive resume within the
sport of triathlon and he'll push the boys."

The coach said that tommorrows run will probably feature some time on "
Admiral Hill." He also said there will be a closed door meeting prior
to the workout. It is believed the Admiral will address the team as
interim captain.

"We all know who the real captain is and he's a darn good captain, but
I need guys to step up while the captain is on the shelf."

Tough camp leads to optional day

With our longest run of the year behind us coach Tdisckree granted the team an optional Monday. Everyone usually goes about it in a different way. Tdiscgreggy used his to get settled into a new job. Tdisckree would have went for a light jog and long stretch and the admiral would have went for a hard 5k. Not sure about the rookie, he was probably licking his wounds. I decided to sleep in and take the full day off today. I've been battling upper and lower body injuries that continue to linger.

I find it tough emotionally on days like today. You get used to a routine and seeing the boys, feeling good throughout the day and then it's like...I feel like junk, i'm eating junk, I can't stop eating junk...then i'm low. It's a battle but at the end of the day you know that there is tomorrow morning and the opportunity to dawn the yingfa's once again.

It's going to be another tough week. Last day to vote.

Till next time,

Bull Patterson strikes again!

"The guy I used to work for called me bull." -Bull

I knew when I woke up this morning with a stitch in my side and tight hip flexors that I was in for a really long morning. I would put today's run right up there with the parlee beach triathlon. Maybe it's because I'm not a runner I don't know, but today was extremely painful. My body really began to shut down late in the run, I felt like I was dragging my legs just trying to keep pace. We did 21k in 1 hour 46 minutes on an extremely hilly route. The admiral and bull set the pace at the front which consisted of speed increases on the uphills. Tdisckree peaked over their shoulders while the captain and I hung on at the back.

It was the wadelin hill that the nickname was given to the rookie. Bull! It was that point in time in the run where he began to pull away on the uphills. He's like a bull, he just paws up the hills. His late push in the run was quite impressive considering he was battling Tdiskree chaffed nipples and bowls. He was tip toeing pretty quickly up through browns court.

We all went for team breaky following the run. When the lady came with the water and asked to take our orders there was a slight pause while everyone tipped up their glasses and drained all the water. The waitress...wondering what just happened said "I'll come back with a picture." "Even a couple pictures would be great" replied Bull. I could hardly even eat my body was so beat up. Bull doesn't know this but when he went to use the washroom the big 4 had a quick discussion about how good this sucker is going to be. We came to the consensus that he's going to be very good and he's going to make us good.

I look forward to the day off tomorrow. Much needed!

Tdisc meet and Greet postponed!

"That ruined my weekend" - The Rookie when he heard the BBQ was off.

The Tdisc meet and greet has being called off due to stress. We feel as though it has been a tough couple of weeks and it just may be too much pressure on our big gun. We have decided to go with a much lighter team breakfast following the 20k run.

Last night I went for a light 5k jog to try and loosen up a bit. I have felt really tight and sore the last few days. This morning I woke up with a really bad hip flexor. This really scares me considering I have 20k to run tomorrow.

The swim today was the hardest that i've done since my last triathlon. I did a mixture of warmup, drill, and cardio. I could hardly kick with my hip flexor but I still managed to swim pretty well. It was great to have tdisckree in the lane to push me into doing a few 200's. The rookie pieced together 2 lengths and the admiral swam and swam and swam. As it has become accustomary at the end of every swim the rookie races the admiral for one length...usually with his head out of the water. Today it was a dead heat.

Tomorrow is a big day for tdisc. It's another step in the direction of running a half marathon. This should be something.

Till next time,

Thursday race day?

"This week is flying by"- The Rookie

"Today was one of the best overall workouts we have had. It is great to have our Coach back. I am so happy to be a part of T disc."- Tdiscgreggy "C"

"Great workout today team. I felt like I was gonna puke doing the pushups."
-Coach Tdisckree

Today was one of the best workouts we have put together since Tdisc was formed back in September of '08. Heavy rain this morning pushed us to the indoor track. It wasn't an easy thing to get by the group...the admiral scowled for a bit but finally gave in. The admiral prefers to get out on the open road and go hard. He doesn't run well on turns so it benefits the more agile Tdiscgreggy. With 2 laps to go in today's race the captain took off on turn 1 with the rookie on his heals. The admiral tried to react but the turn through him off stride. He settled in with Tdisckree and I and we cruised in 3,4,5 respectively. The captain hasn't been getting the press he deserves lately and today he let the admiral know "I'm still here big guy." The admiral was seen just nodding his head saying "next time...next time." Although I didn't have the sprint finish today I felt like I ran well. I had curry last night which kind of spooked me a bit but I didn't feel any effects of it during the run.

We followed up the run with a pretty tough weights/abs circuit. Although it wasn't a whole lot different than usual it still felt a quite a bit tougher. Again, I finished the abs workout trying to peel my head off the ground.

Tomorrow we are back in the pool. Just a reminder of the polls that are in the right hand column. Also, be sure to mark off Saturday September 26th at 3 o'clock for the Tdisc meet and greet bbq at the admirals.

The english muffin strikes again

Good Morning everyone

I know that you all probably shuddered upon reading the subject heading
line, but yes it is true.

Last night all was quiet at 58 Parkway Drive until Greggy and I heard
the cupboard door open and out came...the toaster. I tried to refrain
from holding my breath but it didn't matter, 2 minutes later the fire
alarm was off and so was the Admiral. Furiously whipping a dish towel at
the appliance on the ceiling, onlookers described it as horrifying...
Randy the neighbor walked by the window and described it as 'it looked
like he was getting attacked by bees.' A long series of expletives were
fired at the alarm until it was eventually 'punched' off the wall. The
admiral then returned to his toaster with a peaceful look on his face
and spent the rest of the evening making toast.

"you f*************************." The admiral to the fire alarm

"I love T Disc." Greggy to everyone

"I smell burnt toast." the lady in the heritage commercial and everyone

Rookie thrives at Stonepark

I received a phone call late last night from the big gun..."Let's do something different" he barked. Well...when we arrived this morning it was made clear that we were going to do something different...we just didn't know what. The suggestion came up "let's run to stonepark and run the hills." I did everything I could to convince the team to do something else. That didn't work and we left the ttf en route for Stonepark.

My legs felt really tired on the way down so I was really dreading the hills. We paired up and did 8 hill sprints on a 1 minute pace. It usually took about 15 seconds to get up and then you had 45 seconds to get back down and rest before the next. I kinda forgot how steep the hills were...they were dreadful, but i'm not sure they were any worse than admiral hill. We went in groups of 2...the rookie was riding shotgun with the admiral and I was paired with the captain. Again the rookie laid a thrashing on the admiral. If this doesn't kill the admiral...he'll win something next year because of it. The run back to the TTF was painful. It was a steady incline for half of it...and my legs were pretty much shot.

The big news of the day came when it was announced that the admiral will be hosting 2009-10 Tdisc meet and greet. It will be a BBQ on Saturday. The time has yet to be announced. The first 15 people through the door get there picture taken with the rookie. The first 5 get to race him up the driveway. Should be a great time had by all.

Tomorrow we go for a short run followed by weights. There are a few new polls posted in the right column. Please be sure to vote. Please keep my food addiction in your thoughts....I just had pizza, kd, and ice cream....frig!

Rookie begins to fade

We've all seen this before. All guns a blazing in the first week and then it wears off and it's not so much fun the second week. Complaining of tiredness the rookie tried to convince us that there were no lanes to swim in this morning. As we looked for ourselves we noticed 3. We all went through this lull and i'm sure the rookie will bounce back just like us.

I haven't really enjoyed the pool that much lately. I just feel like my stroke is a little off and just a bit weak. Today we all went our separate ways...doing our own thing. The funny point of the morning came when the rookie raced the admiral with his head out of the water staring at him. The admiral wasn't fazed and continued on with his routine of swim hard. It was a very uneventful day. We were happy to have our captain back and excited to have the coach back tomorrow.

It's sprint day again tomorrow. It's a miracle that noone has left a groin on admiral hill yet. Knock on wood!

Till next time,

Tdisckree Suspended

Tdisc punishes TDK with 2 Day Ban.

Boston, Mass :

According to team sources Tdisckree has been suspend for two training days by the other members of tdisc for "actions un-becoming of the team," and for "harming the image of the team." Along with the suspension, TDK will be forced to attend food addiction meetings with his brother Tdiscpye to get his own situation under control.

Pictures of Tdisckree surfaced last week of TDK going into the following restaurants :
Friendy's, MacDonalds, A & W, and he was also seen on several occasions on Martha's Vineyard eating double scooped ice-cream cones. The final episode occured at Foxboro stadium when he was walking around the concert with MacDOnald's bags and pizzas. According to his wife, TDK had fries at least twice per day while on vacation.

TDISC released an official statement but individual members were unavailable for comment.
" This is something we take very seriously around here. We have another member with a food addiction who has been clean for a few weeks. This precation is just to ensure that TDK has these antics out of his system before he returns." " TDISC is also concerned about TDK because they also included " The health of TDK is important to us. He would die of a heart attack if he jumped back into action after eating like that for a week....The admiral would simply run him into the ground."

TDISC is also in the process of stopping any further pictures from showing up on facebook. Apparently there are some disturbing photos of TDK getting a sundae from Friendly's all over his face. " We don't need people seeing our members in that state." Tdiscpye.

TDK had this to say:
" It was a rough week. Apparently food addictions run in the family. I sickened myself on icecream and fries and burgers. I hope to put this behind me and get back with my teammates."

Right back at it

I can't believe it's another Monday. As I arrived at the TTF this morning for our interval/stairs workout my body was telling me that it was Friday. Although I had a great sleep...I still felt totally exhausted. I figured out pretty quickly that I wasn't the only one when the admiral suggest doing only 4 sets instead of 5...and noone questioned him on it. It was still an intense workout that consisted of 5 laps and 5 stairs(4 times). We then did a 5 station weights circuit followed by a short abs workout. It was short but tough...my last set of toe touches I could hardly touch my knees...my head was like glued to the ground.

Tomorrow we hit the pool as a full unit. Coach Tdisckree and our Captain Tdiscgreggy will be back with the team on a full time basis. The highlight of this week will be the 20k run on saturday.

It looks as though the fans are going to crown me the MVP for the '08-'09 season. Speech will come tomorrow. We will also be posting 2 new polls.

till next time,

End of a long week

As a team we really pushed the envelope this week. As we prepare for the 1/2 marathon we ventured out on a 18k run that was filled with heavy rain and wind. For me it was an absolutely miserable run...but at the end I'm glad I did it. I knew today was going to be a blistering pace and my goal was to hang on...and that's what I did...hung on for dear life. With the damp cool temperatures my knees began to get a little sore and my hand were numb for most of the run. We had a great water station stop at the admiral's which could be somewhat compared to cubag's. As we hit North River Rd. about 15k in my legs began to get tired. It's usually my lunges that go and then my legs...but it was vice versa today. I managed to stay with the boys...until the 200m dash to the line...YA we had a full on sprint! The rookie wowed the crowd by pulling away from the admiral at the end.

After the run we stretched, did a few abs and then went to the hot tub for an extended period of time. I just woke up from a short power nap and I'm not sure what it feels like to get hit by a truck...but I think at some point in time today I did get hit by one. My body is completely exhausted. I'm really looking forward to a rest day tomorrow and then it begins all over again. Tdisc got better this week...

Eerily Quiet!

Today was almost like the calm before the storm. It was just a very uneventful day in the pool which was highlighted by a lengthy hot tub session. The rookie was much better after watching hours of youtube swim videos last night. The admiral was his usual self...just got in and swam hard. I felt great doing a mixture of sprints and drills. Without our captain and coach we lacked leadership and direction this morning. The topic of discussion in the hot tub was the admiral racing the people beside him. When asked if he did, the admiral responded "Ya I do...It pushes me."

Tomorrow is the scary part. Again, we will attempt to run the longest run of our lives. I've just finished mapping out our 18k route which consists of a water station at the admiral's. I was tired midweek but today I feel much better and ready for what's to come in the 18k. It terrifies me to be running alone with the admiral and the rookie. My goal is to survive.

1 more day to go....and remember to vote. 3 days left!

The admiral reflects on the year that was

Finally.... Here it is. The year was full of ups and downs, headaches and heartaches and obstacles and milestones. I can't believe we made it this far.
Here are a few that first come to mind:

1. Getting a flat tire on the way home from brackley and seeing tdisckree driving right by me when coming to pick me up.

2. Wearing spandex for the first time in my life. I never thought I would ever do it...

3. Being accused by our spin instructor who is my wife for talking. Apparently your not working hard enough if you can still talk

4. Having tidsckree trying to throw me out of rhythm while swimming by jumping on top of me at the spa.

5. Being partnered with tdiscpye and finishing 6th in the Red Island Relay.

6. The day I was in Brudenell and biking with Tracey and Flicker. I got so far ahead I missed the turn by 5km. When I got back Tracey wanted to kill me and all Flicker said was "Hey man" with a big smile on his face.

7. Tdisckrees BUSH!!!!

8. Pye's emotional rollarcoaster

9. Hanging out in the sauna at the spa and watching Danny Carrager and other men hike the old leg up onto the stove.

10. Biking through Rustico like absolute mad men.

11. The blog hitting 10 000 in it's inagural year

12. Still being able to make it to the workouts while having to wait for tdiscgreggy to move his car in the morning. I like to be on time!!!

13. Waking up Tuesday mornings and thinking to myself who is going to win today.

14. Having all members of tdisc crossing the finish line in their first triathlon.

AND FINALLY!!!!!

15. Having to run ahead of everyone during one of our runs so I could sneak a crap without know one knowing.

The Rookie silences his Critics!

"I was done after 5." - The admiral

The journey to becoming a triathlete consists of many ups and downs. Yesterday for the rookie it was one of those down days as he entered the pool for the first time. Today he let the whole team know that he can bounce back...and he did on Admiral hill. Today was the single biggest thumping anyone has ever put on the Admiral. We did the hill 7 times and each time had the same result...the rookine pulling away at the 3/4 poll. I felt ok but there was no way I could hold for half of it...the pace was absolutely blistering.

The remainder of this week completely terrifies me! With coach tdisckree gone for the week we are left with noone to pull back on the horses. Today was really the first day that I felt the effect of last season and the tough start to camp. Today I couldn't even eat on my lunch break...I hit the couch, flicked on the price is right and shutter for the remainder of the lunch hour. I plan on a very low key night in order to give my body as much rest as possible before another tough workout tomorrow.

The mornings are becoming darker and cooler. It's hard to stay motivated some days when you have to turn the lights on to get ready and then head outside and it's raining. Today was one of those days! I stood at the bottom of the admiral hill and the rain was beginning to start and I thought to myself "Do I really want to do this all over again?" I battled with that question all day. As I sit here tonight I can answer that question. I want to do this all over again. It's a lifestyle that I don't think I can live without. My food addiction flared to the point of sickness today, but I feel like I can overcome it. I just need to stay away from mom and dad's fridge!

Tomorrow we go for a 7-8k jog followed by a weights circuit. It's hump day....

Tdisckree placed on 7 day ir!

"It's a good sign when you give the boys a day on their own and they all show up and work hard. Just shows the commitment and character of each member of Tdisc."
- Coach Tdisckree

Tdisc has announced that they will be placing Tdisckree on the 7 day Ir(Teeth). Hearing of the news tdisckree decided to schedule a honeymoon over that period of time. As a team we wish him well over the next 7 days.

The question everyone is asking "how insane will these workouts become without the coach?" It's a good question...from my perspective I assume we are going to go harder then we have ever gone before. Tomorrow's interval work has already been pushed from 6 sets to 7. Someone just may get hurt!

Today we entered the pool as a team for the first time since June. I think I speak on behalf of the team when I say that it was an absolute battle. It's a bad feeling when you're swimming and you can feel yourself sinking. In the absense of the the coach we decided to place the rookie with the admiral. He quickly figured it out...stay out of his way and go hard. I think it's fair to say the rookie struggled a bit today. His aggressive stroke led to some rough water which didn't help the breathing portion. Unlike the rest of us...I don't think he is going to quit.

Tomorrow the admiral reflects. Also, there is 2 fan polls in the right hand column. Please take the time to vote!

Comments from the Captain

After today's workout our Captain Tdiscgreggy addressed the media about the latest edition to Tdisc. "Josh Patterson, also now known as Tdiscjoshy is just what we need to take this team to the next level. His competitive attitude and strength as a elite athlete will push us, by pushing the admiral. These two Ontario boys are on this team to drive us through the low points and towards success in the 2010 season.
We are in much better shape than we were one year ago, which means we will just continue to grow and strengthen as triathletes. I am 90% jacked up and ready for this ride to success, and 10% terrified out of my mind for what lies ahead this winter.

Great workout today team, can’t wait for tomorrow..."

Captain Tdiscgreggy

Big gun sends message to rookie

"Being a coach is sometimes like driving a team of horses. Some days you need to yell, and sometimes you need to show em the whip, but some days you just hold on to your hat and the reigns and hope the clydedales don't kill someone or themselves...That was Today!" -Coach Tdisckree

Since the admiral's meltdown back in late september of '08 we have always kinda went easy on Monday's. Well...this is a new year and I quickly found out that things have changed. A light outdoor jog turned into a track workout that could be referred to as borderline insane.

When we arrived at the TTF this morning the coach was waiting at the door for us, ready to put us through a track circuit followed by a weights circuit. He took some flack from the admiral for this, but once he let the admiral know it was going to be hard he then gave in and we all proceeded to the track. We ran a km then ran the steps out back 5 times. We did this 5 times. I consider myself to be in decent shape right now and today I was doing everything I could to hang on for dear life. We brought in Josh patterson to ride shotgun with the big guy and today the admiral let him know that she's going to be a long winter bucko. I can't imagine what kind of shape we're all going to be in if Josh sticks with the team.

Everything seems to be going too well at the moment. Bryan has been at bay...the rook has not quit...yet....and greggy hasn't been late or blocked the admiral in. Tomorrow we all hit the pool.....could be a blog worth reading!

Tdisc runs career high km's

Tdisc is proud to confirm that a tryout has been granted to Josh Patterson. He arrived on time on saturday for the run and did quite well. This officially makes us the biggest triathlete team in the world. Coach Tdisckree had this to say about the acquisition via a phone interview "I like what I see so far. As a coach I think he can ride shotgun with our big gun the admiral." Although he is sore it is expected that Josh will be at the ttf and on time Monday morning.

"I lubed up my feet for today's run" -The admiral

Instead of running out so many kilometers and then coming straight back we decided to get dropped off just shy of the Pownal rink and ran back to UPEI. It couldn't have been planned any better because at the halfway point we had the world famous "Cubag's Water Station" which includes water and juice boxes on ice.

As we got dropped off all the boys did a few stretches before we settled in for a the longest run of our lives. In the early going there was a little talk but at about the 2km mark everything was quiet. The boys were all thinking about what they had to do to make it 17km. The first half of the run was quite painful...it seemed like we climbed the whole way and by times it felt like I was going to get dropped. The turning point in my run came when I got the juice box at cubag's. It gave me the burst of energy that I needed. On behalf of Tdisc we'd just like to send out a huge Thank you to Cubag and Lindsay for best water station ever! It was about the point when we turned onto the Joe Ghiz strip that my training paid off. I felt great coming home, it was by far my strongest point of the run. Everyone ran well, and I have to tip my hat to the rookie and Tdiscgreggy for 17k without running hardly at all over the past couple of months.

It's been a really tough training camp this year. I'm really glad it's over but I don't expect to ease back that much. Tomorrow we have about a 7k run and a short circuit planned. Should be a good week!

Breaking News!

Tsn.ca is reporting that Tdisc has been approached about a late training camp tryout. The name of the individual has not been confirmed. There is wide speculation that he may join the team as early as tomorrow.

The year that was tdisc tdiscgreggy style‏

The first year of T.Disc has been a wonderful experience for me. I got to train with three great athletes, and I learned a lot from them. I could not be happier with this great team, and I could not have picked a better group of guys to spend EVERY MORNING at 6:30am with. Some of the major moments that stick out in my mind are.

Most Inspirational moments,

· Being Partners with Coach TDISCKREE in the Red Isle

· Being named Captain of Tdisc

· The first T.Disc pep rally, where john had his shirt tucked in with no belt

· Flickers deep email that made me rethink my whole life, with his reflection

· The big four making goals and accomplishing them

· Two top ten finishes in Red Isle

· Finishing my first triathlon

· The countless times I woke up for workouts to the smell of burnt English muffins

· The rise of the blog

· Numerous shout outs on K-Rock on Tuesdays runs. Along with mention on the website

· Being a part of kree stag, (watching the umps “ring um up” at the stag) and of course the wedding in Newfoundland.

Funniest Moments,

· Wayne Gairns chirping everyone at his first spin class

· Flicker sweating more in one workout, than I do in a week

· Witnessing the admiral trip on the side walk and roll into the ditch

· $1000 new bike, $500 bike equipment, three early mornings, Vessey getting cut, priceless

· Timmys single appearance, making it one lap before coughing up a whole lung at CARI

· The Spa lurkers…enough said

· Getting a phone call from CARI about their relationship with the admiral

· Coach Kree not taking off his towel for his first time in a ying fa, While the admirals towel never left his shoulder.

· Dev breathing in spin class

· Base runner at TDK stag

· Flickers relationship with other triathletes

Not negative moments, but stepping stones

· Watching kree shut it down and whip pitch a flutter board all the way across the spa pool

· Kris and Pye retiring numerous times but never at the same time

· The admirals hernia

· Getting called out by Scott about our board shorts

· The hours and hours and hours of thunder talk

· Blocking admirals car in

· Pye’s silent treatment when he used to fall behind in a run

· My many thoughts of retirement when being left behind on every bike ride. But never retiring, and never will.

· The admirals hamstrings

· Pye and the adversaries

Tdisc has been more than a team but a family. A lot has happened since the start of tdisc and as a team we have been there for each other. From TDK getting married, TDG graduating, TDP beating TDTW in a 10k and his trip to Japan, Soon to be TDTW having her first child with the admiral. In all the major points of our lives, tdisc has been there to support and help in any way. Because that is a team gentleman, that’s all it is……

Thank you Tdisc,

Reflection from the Author

As I sit here with my shirt off, reflecting on a year that was...I can't help but think that this year was my coming out party. I began this journey as a guy who really could never get in shape and I guess the only way to do beat that was to tackle one of the worlds most gruesome sports. I have many people to thank for getting me to the point where I am today. First and foremost...my teammates. The boys that got up every single morning and encouraged Bryan not to quit again...and again. I just couldn't control my emotions...I don't know why...I just couldn't...and I do apologize for that. Second...the fans of the blog. You people who actually took time out of your day to read about the trials and tribulations of becoming a triathlete. In the end it was really the only reason why we didn't run when the gun went off in Fredericton. Finally I have to thank the people who scrolled up and down my body when I mentioned that I was going to be a triathlete.(I still do get that reaction, but now I have the numbers to back it up.) It made me quit a few times...but it also made me keep coming back.
Things I will most remember:

1. The night that I had to call the admiral and apologize because I roasted him in the blog and his feelings got hurt. (He took 2 days off and ran it out of himself.)

2. The pile of clothes that collected in front of the dryer, and in order to find something you had to kick it around a bit.

3. The day I got lapped 6 times!

4. The day the admiral found out he was going to be late for school and we were 30 minutes from home. So he put the hammer down and left Tdiscgreggy to fend for himself.

5. The first day flicker joined Tdisc. We went for a run in about 5 degree weather and sheets of rain and they dropped us after the 1st k. I still remember the comment of the day. "Nice day for a run."

6. The admiral just ripping up university avenue trying to get back before his ears got frostbite.

7. The day we swam 4 wide trying to do 10 lengths, break, and then 10 lengths. I just remember the look on the guys face when he opened the door to the pool. It was like he was in shock...the waves were just smashing over the sides.

8. Our first team bike ride when the admiral got dropped. His friggen gears wouldn't work on the hills. When a couple friends stopped by and asked how it went...the admiral responded in a more vulger way..."I sucked...."

9. The day we invited Jared Stretch along and tdiscgreggy took out his front spoke. Just after the admiral tried to run him into the ditch. This came after we dropped him when he broke the wind for 20 minutes. It was a quiet ride home!

10. Crossing the line in Fredericton!

When you accomplish a goal it's one of the best feelings in the world. Especially when you work so hard for it. I've learned a lot over the past year but I've learned that quitting will never get you anywhere in life. I quit 13 times and the worst days of my life followed. The scary thing about last winter was...I looked forward to my next day with Tdisc. I've accomplished a lot over this past year...

1. My goal was to drop some weight over the winter...I dropped 29lbs and 19 inches!

2. I couldn't run 5k when I started...my first 10k was 1hour 2minutes. I can now run 10k in under 46 minutes!

3. When I started swimming at the spa I couldn't make it 15m...after 156000m of training I can now swim at least 1500m consecutively!

4. My goal was to do a triathlon...I have now completed 2 with respectable times!

Tdisc really does change lives! We're not lying when we say it's a lifestyle. It really is! To those who say that you could never do it...i'm living proof that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. This is just the beginning of Tdisc. My goals this year are:

1. Run a 42 minute 10k.
2. Complete a triathlon in 2h25m or less.

My team goals are:

1. Someone will run a 37 minute 10k
2. Someone will do a triathlon in less than 2h20m.

I still can't believe people actually read this! Oh ya...and did I mention that I did all this while battling a food addiction?

Tdisct(w) Reflects

Today we decided to jog to the rural and do 6 200m hill sprints and then jog back down. It was a morning in which we knew quite well that fall was here. I was freezing on the jog over and even during the sprints my hands were numb. It was kind of depressing this morning waking up in the dark again. It hard to believe that the season is over. Like tdisckree said today "It's just way to long of a winter to do only 2 races." It's true...next year tdisc will be going with a full slate of races.

As most of you know...Tdisct(w) was a founder of tdisc and is also the wife of the Admiral. Ya...she's a marvelous woman! Today she took the time out of her schedule to reflect on the year that was.

"k so from the outside looking in on the past year, I have a few moments that are hard to forget myself:

1- John getting a flat in Brackley and then hitch hiking in his bike
shoes while the rest of us biked into 50km/hr headwind to get a car to
pick him up

2- Playing chicken with a women in Stratford and then getting the
finger (still looking for license plate number 2XY 34A)

3- Getting dropped on a 'walk' by the admiral (not John) the day before
the Fred triathlon b/c I was going too slow

4- Frantic phone calls made by the admiral (not John) the day before
the triathlon to try and find a wetsuit...while 'Greggy' could care less
if he had to swim in his tri shorts

5- Bi-weekly blogs and phone calls made by Pye to say he
quit/retired/hates running

6- UPEI track runs where the pace would change from a 9 min mile to a 6
min mile in one loop

7- Fend for yourself bike rides

8- John making it through his first year of triathlon training and
spending only $60 on gear

9- Greg and John buying a wet suit that never made it to a race

10- 'The Tilt and Nod' ......IE....Pyes reaction to friends and family
as he runs/bikes by in races

11- Dad getting hired by Atlantic Chip timing to shout out lead times
in coming triathlon races

12- 'Kree' coming up with the slogan 'Why Not?' and the following day
when asked to do an ironman in 2010 says 'absolutely not.'

13- The most emotional and physical drama I have ever witnessed between
4 males
"

Tomorrow is my turn to reflect. I look forward to the opportunity to look back on the year that was. We will also be swimming again tomorrow morning.

Till next time,
Tdiscpye

1 Year anniversary

This time last year we were done of our first day of training to become triathletes. It's hard to believe that it's been a full year. It's been an absolute roller coaster of a ride. Every day this week I will post a Tdisc members reflection on the blog. Tonight I'm proud to feature the reflection of our coach Tdisckree. Enjoy!

Happy Anniversary TDISC,
Looking forward to celebrating at the awards gala at the Admirals on Friday.

Here is my reflection on the '08'09 Season.

Comments :

I honestly didnt' think we'd last till October 08. Admiral was crazy from the get go...Pye had the emotions of a teenage girl...I was like Brett Favre...and Greggy was living a Zack Morris lifestyle. I am still shocked that we've made it this long. As much as I had doubts, I never doubted our ability. I figured if we could make it till April then we'd be fine. I was wrong...we almost lost Pye in early April. I would have pulled out of Fredericton the day before the race. I almost pulled myself out of Fredericton after swimming up to the start line. As it was, Admiral was so shook up from Fredericton that we couldn't coax him into another race in 09. Over the past year some things have changed and some things haven't. I still hate getting up in the morning. I want to quit every morning. I am still uncomfortable walking bare-yingfa. However, I now enjoy the workouts and look forward to them. The focus has changed now, it's no longer about survival, it is more about improvement. I am proud of the team and look forward to capping the 09 season with a half-marathon and getting ready for 2010.

Best Moments :

DQ Run - put up a much better time then I thought I would.
Red Isle Relay - Being paired with the captain TDISCGREGGY
Finishing in Fredericton and Parlee Beach.
Tdiscgreggy doing one more lap last week in the track workout.

Worst Moments :

Getting told off by the Admiral every morning I am late.
Having to make a pit stop at the Petro, Tim Hortons, Subway on runs.
Having to make pit stops at UPEI track...suffering from bowel problems.
Retiring every day in the pool at the spa.
Having a stich for half of Sporting Intentions 10k.
Wearing out my Ying Fa's

Funniest Moments :

Picturing Greggies car blocking Admiral's in some mornings.
Admiral Running with no hat on the coldest day of the year.
Trace buying Admiral a bike for about 4x as much as he said he'd spend on a bike.
Seeing the boys in Yingfa's for the first time.
THe 8th Time Pye retired.
Cutting Vessey

The future of TDISC :

It looks like TDISC will close the doors on expansion for the season. It will stand as the BIG 4. People are intimidated to try out for the team and no one to date has had the commitment necessary to join the squad. Rookflick was close...but close don't count in TDISC.

A TDISC member will finish in the top 10 of an event next year.
A TDISC member will run a sub - 40 min 10k next year.
A TDISC member will run a sub - 20 min 5 K next year.
All members will complete a TRI in under 2:30 next season.
There won't be any retirments this year.( at least until after the season)

Keep on Keeping On

2010 Slogan : WHY NOT ?

Today we were back in the pool. It was an extremely difficult day for me. I just didn't feel motivated at all and spent most of my time on the ropes. It just felt like I was sinking the all the time. It's hard to believe how quickly someone can lose it. Today it was weird...we were minus our big gun the admiral. He's taking his job wayyy to serious. That job isn't going to get him to the olympics. Tomorrow were back to the dreaded intervals.

Till next time,

Tdisc prepares for half marathon

A year ago 5k looked like a daunting task for me, but on Saturday we decided to run 15k. Prime example of how Tdisc changes lives. I was a little nervous of the length but I also knew how well I felt during some previous 12k runs. At about the 10k mark comment came out "The big fella is starting to breath a little heavier." I was breathing heavier but I still felt fine. It wasn't till the end that my legs began to get a little tired and my body started to feel the distance. In the end I enjoyed the run but i'm not sure if I would ever want to be a marathon runner.

Tdisc took the day off on sunday and went on our own for labour day Monday. It's always a bit tougher to do the runs without the team but today I was able to team up with Tdisckree for a 6-7k run followed by a short weights circuit.

Tomorrow were back in the daunting waters of the Cari pool at the TTF. I'm actually kind of looking forward to it...running gets hard on the body after awhile. Not sure what exactly what we will be doing in the pool but it is expected that we will have a full squad.

Hardest Training camp yet!

"I feel like I wanna puke." - Captain Tdiscgreggy

Following Wednesday's gruesome workout...Tdisckree released this statement. "It's been a tough training camp so far...the toughest that i've ever been to. We're not going to stop...we're going to continue to push the envelope. This is how we're going to get the big fella on the podium in Fredericton. Thanks for your time."

Wednesday morning we met at the TTF and proceeded to the track for some interval work. We did 5- 800m sprints on a 3 minute pace with a 3 min 400 in between. This was the toughest thing that I have done since the Iditerod back on Dec. 23rd...in which the admiral won minues winter clothing. The inspirational moment of the day came at the end when our Captain was struggling(he didn't run since NFLD)and we suggested that it was enough and he never even looked our way and said "I have1 more lap boys." It was something u would expect to hear from your captain.

Trying to loosen things up a bit during a tough week we decided to take off to hear Brad Paisley in Halifax. It was awesome! We didn't mind standing up considering we could hardly sit down from the tough workouts that training had brought so far.

Today was a light jog followed by another weights circuit. My legs felt really tired but I still felt great.

Tommorow we begin our long runs. 14k is in store for Tdisc. In preparation for this I decided to get a new pair of runners and a new running hat. He threw in some "nice socks". I look forward to tomorrow.

Till next time,

Day 2!

Today's workout began a bit later this morning due to a team meeting that lasted into the late evening. Details will not be released to the public.

We arrived at the TTF this morning for a 7 am weights workout. Worried he would suffer from the admiral's hamstrings, the admiral convinced us to go for a run down at the new track. The warmup jog felt great...we did a couple laps of the track and then ran back. Overheard on lap 1 was this comment "It's nice the Canada Games is over, this can now be used for what it was built for...a Tdisc training facility." It's true...in order to get the admiral to the London olympics we needed this track. After our warmup we began to go through our weights circuit. I was honored to get paired up with our Captain...Tdiscgreggy. It was great to have him back this morning...The team had way more direction, and I don't think it's a coincidence. We got a little scare early on when Tdiscgreggy went down with cramps. The trainers began to work on him quickly and brought him around to finish the workout. The quote of the day came from the admiral. When he found out he had to do lunges "I won't be able to stand up at Brad Paisley."

Today's workout went well! It was tough because we were working on muscles that we hadn't used over the summer. My legs feel a little tender now, which means I may be better off to go for a run this evening to try and loosen them up. Tomorrow we may be back in the pool depending on this evenings run.

This morning we had our team weigh ins. It was a boost for me to see how much I am down over almost a year. We are approaching our 1 year anniversary...that's when I will take my measurements and compare them to last years. To celebrate our 1 year we will all reflect on the year in the first addition of "Tdisc Reflects".
