1 Year anniversary

This time last year we were done of our first day of training to become triathletes. It's hard to believe that it's been a full year. It's been an absolute roller coaster of a ride. Every day this week I will post a Tdisc members reflection on the blog. Tonight I'm proud to feature the reflection of our coach Tdisckree. Enjoy!

Happy Anniversary TDISC,
Looking forward to celebrating at the awards gala at the Admirals on Friday.

Here is my reflection on the '08'09 Season.

Comments :

I honestly didnt' think we'd last till October 08. Admiral was crazy from the get go...Pye had the emotions of a teenage girl...I was like Brett Favre...and Greggy was living a Zack Morris lifestyle. I am still shocked that we've made it this long. As much as I had doubts, I never doubted our ability. I figured if we could make it till April then we'd be fine. I was wrong...we almost lost Pye in early April. I would have pulled out of Fredericton the day before the race. I almost pulled myself out of Fredericton after swimming up to the start line. As it was, Admiral was so shook up from Fredericton that we couldn't coax him into another race in 09. Over the past year some things have changed and some things haven't. I still hate getting up in the morning. I want to quit every morning. I am still uncomfortable walking bare-yingfa. However, I now enjoy the workouts and look forward to them. The focus has changed now, it's no longer about survival, it is more about improvement. I am proud of the team and look forward to capping the 09 season with a half-marathon and getting ready for 2010.

Best Moments :

DQ Run - put up a much better time then I thought I would.
Red Isle Relay - Being paired with the captain TDISCGREGGY
Finishing in Fredericton and Parlee Beach.
Tdiscgreggy doing one more lap last week in the track workout.

Worst Moments :

Getting told off by the Admiral every morning I am late.
Having to make a pit stop at the Petro, Tim Hortons, Subway on runs.
Having to make pit stops at UPEI track...suffering from bowel problems.
Retiring every day in the pool at the spa.
Having a stich for half of Sporting Intentions 10k.
Wearing out my Ying Fa's

Funniest Moments :

Picturing Greggies car blocking Admiral's in some mornings.
Admiral Running with no hat on the coldest day of the year.
Trace buying Admiral a bike for about 4x as much as he said he'd spend on a bike.
Seeing the boys in Yingfa's for the first time.
THe 8th Time Pye retired.
Cutting Vessey

The future of TDISC :

It looks like TDISC will close the doors on expansion for the season. It will stand as the BIG 4. People are intimidated to try out for the team and no one to date has had the commitment necessary to join the squad. Rookflick was close...but close don't count in TDISC.

A TDISC member will finish in the top 10 of an event next year.
A TDISC member will run a sub - 40 min 10k next year.
A TDISC member will run a sub - 20 min 5 K next year.
All members will complete a TRI in under 2:30 next season.
There won't be any retirments this year.( at least until after the season)

Keep on Keeping On

2010 Slogan : WHY NOT ?

Today we were back in the pool. It was an extremely difficult day for me. I just didn't feel motivated at all and spent most of my time on the ropes. It just felt like I was sinking the all the time. It's hard to believe how quickly someone can lose it. Today it was weird...we were minus our big gun the admiral. He's taking his job wayyy to serious. That job isn't going to get him to the olympics. Tomorrow were back to the dreaded intervals.

Till next time,
Tdiscpye
