Tdisc mid season grades

Courtesy of Tsn.ca

Bull Patterson: B- Bull entered his tryout agreement on fire. Within a week he had a hill named after him(Bull Hill) and was pegged as the favorite going into the island marathon. Bull continued to impress...making great strides in the pool and even made a bold statement and purchased a bike from our major sponsor(Smooth Cycle). For personal reasons Bull was forced to withdraw from the Island Marathon. It was then that he began to show signs that he was entering his first ever dog days. The pressure of trying to become a world class triathlete while working a job and going to school had caught up to the bull. The bull got Burnt out! The good news is that he stuck with the team. On Dec.12th in front of Tdisc nation...Bull was innaugurated into Tdisc. He has gone home for christmas to get rejuvenated for the stretch run. Before he left he made it clear to the team that he was going to be better in the second half. We know he's going to be good....but just how good? Coach Tdisckree summed him up best when he said "if he can see you than he'll catch ya."

Captain Tdiscgreggy: B+ The captain let everyone know early on that he wasn't fooling around this year. There would be no excuses...he was going to do what he needed to do to get better. As a team we felt that the captain was ready to move out from under the admirals wing. How would the captain handle getting up without the burnt english muffin alarm clock. The captain handled it well...only being late a few times. The captain is rumoured to have set up his bike on the trainer at home and does a few rides in the evenings. He has also joined the ever growing Ed. Fitness class. Like TDB he has also begun to show signs that he is entering the dog days. Tdisc will need the captain to continue to lead by example in the second half if they are to have any chance at surviving.

The Admiral: A- The admiral made a statement to start the season with a high placing at the Island Marathon. When the bull put the hammer down...it was the admiral that had to respond. We expected him to drop at bull hill...but he didn't! Then came along the next one. He took a week off and then came back to the team. Everyone said he couldn't do it....but he has. He shows up regularly for morning workouts...not always overly talkative, but he still comes and puts in a good workout. We've even been able to reason with him on a few occasions. His go hard attitude has tamed down a bit, but he still remains aggressive in the pool. Next Friday he will put his 18-0 record on the line in swim class when he lines up in the 50m 1 arm freestyle. He's our big gun and everything is pointing towards greatness in the second half. If it doesn't cost to much...he'll podium in June.

Coach Tdisckree: c- TDK couldn't keep his momentum following the island marathon. It wasn't long into training camp when rumblings began about the dismissal of him as coach. His attitude and work ethic were poor. He struggled with the dog days which often led to excuse filled texts that led to the absense of him at workouts. He was once quoted as saying "I don't think i've ran in a month boys." His attendance at workouts was far and few between. He has come leaps and bounds but still hasn't proven that he can control his bowls when the race is on the line. We know what he can bring the team and expect him to bounce back in the second half. He is the mastermind of Tdisc and holds the team record for the best finish in a triathlon. A successful season for tdisc rests on the shoulders of the coach.

Tdiscpye: B- The author of the blog started the year on a high note by setting a new personal best in the Island Marathon. He didn't slow down there...he joined ed. fitness while still working out with Tdisc. To the world it looked like tdp was on his way up in Tdisc, but the team knew that he wasn't handling life in the public eye very well. Tdisc knew that at any point in time the blog could be in search of an author. Food and texting have got the better of him in the first half. He has shown signs of being able to beat these addictions, but not on a consistent basis. Without change...don't expect the blog to make it out of January.

CRM John "Cubag" Cusack: B+ The CRM was thrown right into the fire with his duties in the 1st annual Tdisc Santa Claus run. He immediatly had the team on KRock. The team then went a week without hearing from him and almost canned the newly appointed CRM. On Dec. 22nd Cubag proved his worth when he got Tdisc on the front page of the guardian. What's next for the CRM?

The return of Bryan

With the holiday's coming to an end, and the thought of going back to work tomorrow...Bryan has tried to rear his ugly head. All I have done is eat and sleep for 4 consecutive days. If it's healthy then I don't want it. It's not good. I went to blog earlier today and Bryan convinced me to go have a sleep instead. My feeling right now is that he is back.

I've talked and heard a lot about yoga lately. I know my flexability needs some attention but I just haven't gotten around to it. Well yesterday I thought it was time to square off with my flexibility. So I got on youtube and found a yoga session for beginners. So I closed my bedroom door and set the computer up in front of a vacant area where I would perform my yoga. So I press play and the lady tells me to sit indian style. I don't think i've sat indian style since elementry school. It all went down hill from there. So if you can picture it...i'm on the floor in my room trying to get my feet up on my knees in the indian style position...almost on my back...nearly popping blood vessels in my head from the stress...just reafing on my legs. I swear my hips at some points felt like they were going to pop. Anyways...it was a wake up call. This is something that needs to be dealt with immediately.

Just a reminder that on Jan. 1st I will be unveiling the first ever Tdisc Year In Review. Also this week I will be releasing the mid season grades for the team.

Holiday update

On Saturday we went for our last team run of the '09 season. The admiral, Tdisct(w), and the next one flew to Ontario that evening. It's been quiet without the whole team around. This morning Tdisckree had to work, so the captain and I went for a short run. I plan to take a few days off over the holiday's to rest my body. I still plan on doing the odd swim and run. It was a tough first half but it was also quite relaxed around the TTF. Come Jan. 1st/10 the panic button will probably get pushed. WE will be in the year of the triathlon. We will begin to swim more, hit the legs harder, and increase the running. 2010 is going to be a big year for Tdisc.

My blogs have been sporadic and will continue to be until the new year. There will be a special blog on January 1st to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the blog. It's hard to believe that it's been one year.

From Tdisc and all of us here at bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Eat what you want....in moderation!

Tdisc Breakfast

In a surprise move the big gun called a team breakfast. Instead of doing our usual Friday swimming class, we all met at Smitty's for a team breakfast. It was a way for the boys just to sit back and chat before going into the christmas break. Here is a copy of the mornings meeting courtesy of the team coach.

"Just wanted to put in writing the minutes of the meeting this morning. I thought the meeting was very good and we accomplished a lot. This is a great organization that we are a part of and I look forward to the promising 2010 that this organization is going to experience.

Here are a few things that I just wanted to Clarify.

1. There will be an "Admiral's breakfast" once per month. The day is always determined by the Admiral.
2. All fans/supporters/family members of TDISC will now be known as TDISC NATION.
3. Team members only item.
4. Team members only item.

Thanks,
Merry Christmas.

TDK - Head Coach"

Tomorrow we have a long run scheduled. This will be the last official team workout of '09. For anyone who is keeping track...my food addiction has taken a turn for the worst. I'm on damage control. Just trying to survive the holiday's.

Captain talks about giving

Last night we delivered our gifts to the ten families that we have chosen to help. I never even really thought about what it would be like until I was at the first house with the admiral. It hit home fast when we were handing over the card filled with gift cards.
One of my favorite things about Christmas is watching people open their gifts from me, it always makes me feel good inside. I have never experienced such a genuine thanks, as much as last night. After last night I am inspired to raise and help that much more. The people we gave to last night, we not only waiting for us, but very excited to see us. It was a amazing experience.
As great as it was to see the thanks, the state of these houses and families was very hard to see. One house we went to, the mother was not in the right state of mind, with three little girls there. This was a huge eye opener and for a while the car was quiet after a few of these houses. We were all just thinking how rough these children have it.
I will more than ever be grateful for EVERYTHING I have this Christmas, and a true heartfelt thank you to all of you that have made it possible.

Preparation

The last couple days have been tough trying to decide how to spend the money in a way that we are going to get the most mileage out of it. Without going into much detail, we were given some good advice from people who know what they're talking about. They were able to point us in a direction that would best suit the families. We came up with a package that would able them to buy gifts as well as food. How much in each gift card depended on the size of the family.

Through much help the admiral was able to compile a list of families that needed it most. The families have been notified that we will be coming and will be expecting us tomorrow evening.

For me this experience has been an eye opener. You really don't understand how hard it is for some people this time of year. Some of the stories that I've heard are really hard to believe. I've never thought about not having heat for christmas....or having nothing to eat. We just take so much for granted.

Again thank to all who have so generously given to help a few families at christmas. This just goes to show that by even giving 20 bucks each we can make a difference. We will be delivering the packages tomorrow night on behalf of the Tdisc and it's fans. It's pretty exciting stuff.

Today we went for a run minus bull patterson. Bull has gone home for christmas. We wish bull safe travels and a merry christmas.

On behalf of Tdisc and Bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com i'd just like to wish Alex Bain a happy 22nd birthday.

Tdisc's Big Night!

This blog is brought to you by: Smooth Cycle (The official bike shop of Tdisc)

Thanks to www.therunman.blogspot.com/ you have the opporutinity to see pictures of Tdisc at the 1st annual Tdisc Santa Claus run.

I'm pleased to announce that donations are still continuing to roll in. Therefore we will not be releasing the final number until tomorrow evening.

We had a great evening last night. All 5 tdisc members dawned Santa Suits and completed a 5k run around Charlottetown in the sub zero temperatures. For myself I never thought that the belly and hair were going to play that much of a factor in the run. I'm a gagger as it is so when the hair got in my mouth I found myself keiled over dry heaving. It was ok though...I hardly missed a stride. Thanks to Greg, my suit stayed in tact throughout the race. Afterwards we spent some time with fellow roadrunners over some chilli. On behalf of Tdisc, again we thank the roadrunners for allowing us to be a part of their race. Thank you for the donations and your kind hospitality. It really added to the whole experience. The people who came to cheer us on and support us however they could...Thank you! Your efforts did not go unnoticed. To our CRM....Great Job on your first event. This is just the first of many. This run would not have been possible without the Santa suits. To those who generously allowed us to use them...Thank You! KRock....Thank you so much for the great plugs. Endless amounts of people told me about them. You are the official Radio Station of Tdisc.

$3400+ speaks for itself. None of this is possible if people aren't willing to give to your cause. To all the donators....We can't thank you enough. It's really truly unbelievable the amount of money that was so generously given. We know of 10 families who are really struggling to get just 1 gift for their kids at christmas. Well thanks to you guys....they have the opportunity to get something for their kids this year.

To Tdisc: We've always said that you have to be a little off your rocker to do what we do day in and day out. The day we thought about running 5k in santa suits for charity and thinking that we were going to get some money...had to be the most far fetched thing that we've ever came up with. Wow! Can you believe it?
I'm extremely blessed to be surrounded by these guys. When we hit our goal of $2000 it was like...."ok...let's get 3000." Like our slogan says "Why Not?"

It was a very special night for tdisc for 2 reasons. 1. of course the 1st annual Tdisc Santa Claus run. 2. We had the opportunity to welcome a fifth member to the team. Below are the minutes of Bull Patterson's innauguration Night.

I TDISCADMIRAL do anoint you BULL PATTERSON the second big gun of
TDISC.
On behalf of Tdisc I accept you into this distinguished group. In this
I entrust that you will be loyal to the team, put the team endeavors in
front of your own, read the blog daily which may include public ridicule
from the author TDISCPYE, follow your captain TDISCGREGGY, listen to
your instructions from the coach TDISCKREE, train through pain and
injuries, and last and most importantly ….. BE ON TIME…..(twist head)
BULL, BE ON TIME…or you’ll be a STEER !!

TDISCADMIRAL : I now ask the fans of Tdisc to raise a hand toward Bull
Patterson and repeat these words.
“ We fans of Tdisc vow to support and encourage BULL PATTERSON. We
now recognize BULL PATTERSON as the fifth member of TDISC.”

TDISCADMIRAL : BULL – Repeat after me.
“ I Josh Bull Patterson accept the distinguished honor of becoming a
member of TDISC. I vow to uphold the following creeds:

Protect the Admiral against all competitors or unruly fans.
Read the blog daily.
Be on time!
Don’t be late for training sessions.

ADMIRAL: Ladies and Gentleman I give you the newest member of TDISC,
and from this day forward he shall be known as ….. TDISCBULL

The calm before the storm

We are on the eve of Arguably the biggest day in Tdisc history. We are right now sitting at around $2200. We want to do up a $300 package per family. So as of now we have enought to do 7-8 families. We talked about it as team and we have decided to raise our goal to 10 families. From this point on the amount will not increase on the blog. A grand total will be posted on Sunday. We will be arriving at the armories for the race around 5:15....the more support there the better. Following the race will be the after party. All Tdisc fans are invited to this special evening. It's going to be exciting when we release the final number and when we welcome another person into Tdisc. I can't release many details on this other then it will be the admiral innaugurating the bull.

Today I woke up to gail force winds. I immediately thought to myself..."why did we agree to run this morning?" So we arrived a little late...well buddled up for an outdoors run. I couldn't think of any other way to warm up for the Santa run then a stiff 5k on ice with a -15 windchill. The big news on the run was the whereabouts of Bull Patterson. I'm not going to go into details on this but I have a message for the bull. This is your free pass bull...next time you get roasted. The run was brutal. You know it's really windy when the boys have the heads tilted into the wind.

As promised...Today is Flasback Friday! Well here it is...It is Feb. 18th/09. Tdisc had reached a boiling point in the dog days. Tdiscpye and the admiral were not getting along. Something had to be done....Enjoy!

Tdisc Press Conference
Tdisc Training Facility - Feb. 18/09
(Table is set up at the front with 4 microphones. From left it's Tdiscpye, Tdiscadmiral, Tdiscgreggy, and Tdisckree. Everyone else is mingling around out in front of Tdisc.)

7:00:01 P.M.- (The author of the blog...Tdiscpye) Friends, family, reporters, fellow triathletes, prime minister Stephen Harper. Thank you all for coming today...we appreciate the support we have gotten over the past 160 days of training. We've had many ups and downs through the process but none bigger than what happened on monday. When you live your life in the public eye, sometimes you feel a lot of pressure. (Captain Tdiscgreggy reaches over and puts his arm around The admiral.) This man took the weight of Tdisc on his shoulders for as long as he could before finally he snapped. Things were said and actions were shown by members of Tdisc which eventually led to the Tdisc shakeup. (Tdiscpye reaches over and puts his arm around the admiral) Apologies were given and apologies were accepted. We have overcome our differences to continue our push to Fredericton '09. In the process a proposal was put on the table for the Red Island Relay. I'll now hand it over to Tdisckree to explain the details of the proposal.

(Tdisckree) Good afternoon, In the wake of Monday's blowup I came up with a proposal for the Red Island Relay.TDISKREE and TDISCGREGGY VS. TDISCADMIRAL and TDISCPYE.

take it or leave it......

I think the teams need to be across family and household lines. Also, this will force tdiscadmiral and tdispye to get along better. the two biggest names in tdisc will be forced together. This leaves each team with a good runner and good biker.
TDISC has been getting stale lately and really looking for blogging material...this announcement will send the fans and media into a frenzy and clear the uncertainty that awaits us in 100 days in Brudenell.
Looking forward to hearing back from the Pye-Admiral camp.
I'll now hand it over to the Captain of the team for his spin on things.

(Captain Tdiscgreggy) I think this proposal is a positive thing, because of a number of reasons….
TDISCKREE born 1980 TDISCADMIRAL born 1980
TDISCGREGGY born 1983 = 54 TDISCPYE born 1983 =54
Strong Biker, Strong Runner. Strong Biker, Strong Runner
Neither team lives together, so no sneaking out together to get a workout in. Everything will stay honest.
This will also force each other to continue and be strong, because now if that one person backs off it will let down another. Friendly competition makes the end result faster, because now you are not running and biking for yourself, but also another team member.

(Tdiscadmiral) BOY'S IT'S ON!!!!!!When two emotionally charged individuals come together everyone elsebetter get the hell out of the way. I will help my new partner battle his food addiction and he will helpme battle my rage problem. We will be on call for each other 24hours aday. I have now decided to invest in a cell phone. I will only betaking calls from my new partner tdiscPye. I wish all participants the best of luck in the Red Island Relay. Watchfor us on the podium.

(Tdiscpye) I agree with the admiral. I don't think there will be any doubt we'll be good. I extremely excited to work with John...he's one guy I know i'll never have to kick him in the rear...i'll just have to keep pulling him back. With him now getting a new cellphone we will be in touch and immediatly we'll start crunching numbers. I have a time in my head for the admiral...I just have to convince him that it is reachable. I'm excited for what's to come...it'll be one heck of a ride. So the field is set...Tdisc #1 will be the favored Tdisckree and Tdiscgreggy. Tdisc #2 will be the admiral and myself. I will now hand it over to Tdiscgreggy to close out this press conference.

(Captain Tdiscgreggy) This week in the life of T.Disc is a prime example of the trials and tribulations we go through to become triathletes T.Disc has grown from these experiences to become more than a team, but a family. In the face of real adversity the joking stops and the outcome is a stronger, closer unit, some even venture to say a band of brothers.
This week was also special because we selected our partners for the Red Island Relay. This was a positive because it separated us into partners in which were strong in one leg and weak in another. This was a move to take our training to the next level, by forcing us to work on our weaker activity.
This was a great week overall for T.Disc because we have had a day’s rest and released all tension in the air and moved forward. Great effort by everyone today, and can’t wait for tomorrow! Thanks for coming.

Today was a good day for Tdisc. We had a great weights session and swim. Everyone was very positive and supportive of one another. Bike and run tommorow....no spin.

Till next time,

Just another Thursday

Scratches: Bull Patterson (concussion) Day-to-day

We recieved word that bull is feeling better and will be ready to go on Saturday. It's great news for Tdisc.

We did our usual thursday morning sprint workout on the bikes. Biked for about 40 mins, did some abs, and then stretched. It was a very quiet day at the TTF this morning. Pretty much all the talk was about the upcoming weekend. Our CRM sent out a memo last night to the team and it looks like everything is still on track.

Not much to blog about today. Donations continue to come in. Tomorrow is flashback Friday. I assure you that it will be a must read.

Hump day.....Again!

Scratches: Bull Patterson (concussion) Day-to-day

Whenever i'm training with Tdisc the weeks just seem to fly by. It's Monday and then next thing you know it's hump day. For me, today was one of those day's where you know it's hump day and you're doing everything that you can to get over the hump. Last night I was up wayyyy past my tdisc bedtime which led to an exhausted TDP this morning. I battled from start to finish today, however I did find a way to swim well. I luckily drew the same lane as the big gun. When you swim with the admiral you are always motivated to swim hard. When you're swimming you can sometimes sense him coming behind. It's like when you're in the ocean and it's all dark underneath and u sense something....you start to panic....you begin to kick like a madman....your arms are getting caught in the water because you're flailing so hard. When you're finished...you feel like you have survived.

This past week has been very exciting regarding the 1st annual Tdisc Santa Claus Run. We have been recieving emails, phone calls, and even face to face conversations asking how they can go about supporting the run. The support so far has been absolutely remarkable. I'm completely blown away! For me the only problem I have is that when I get too high my food addiction flares. For example: Today I was recieving emails and texts about donations and I didn't even realize I was double fisting the box of chocolates that was sitting by the computer. As I went to get my phone and send a text I found myself elbow deep into a bag of party mix that only had pretzels left...I don't even like pretzels! Anyways....I can deal with the food addiction....keep the donations coming!

A special thanks to Colin MacKay at KRock. I never heard the plug but from what I hear it was awesome. Thank you so much from all of us here at Tdisc.

Thanks to all who have donated so far....it's you the people that are making this a success. We're just 5 guys running in Santa Suits. Say what you want though...it's going to be friggen funny. We have momentum....let's keep the ball rolling.

I'll leave you with a something to think about. It's beginning to get dark out...the streets of downtown Charlottetown are quiet. The temperature drops and the gun goes off. In the distance you notice a large group of runners and at the front.....5 Santas!

Tdisc holds short press conference

Before I get to the minutes of last night's press conference i'll talk a little about this mornings run. The word went out yesterday morning that bull patterson had been diagnosed with a concusion that he recieved over the weekend. Yesterday evening the bad news had been confirmed. Details of injury have not been released.

We arrived at the TTF this morning in preparation for our first snow covered sidewalk run of the season, without our coach and our big rookie. So the admiral, captain, and I started our run down towards the trail when we spotted something quite noticeable in the distance. If you ever saw bull patterson driving before then you know exactly what we're talking about. It was large and black....with the lights flickering and the horn honking....It was Bull! Out of the truck jumped bull...."jeez boys...I knew it was going to be close." "Bull where are your mitts?" asked the admiral. "I don't have any admiral." replied bull. "Here I brought an extra pair" the admiral said while handing the mitts to bull. "Bull...should u be running with a concusion?" the captain asked. "I have to run...we have a big run on saturday." The bull replied. He took the tdisc approach to injuries...run the injuries out of you. The run went well....we ran for about 40 minutes and then finished off the workout with a short stretch.

Last night Tdisc scheduled a news conference to introduce John Cusack as Tdisc community relations manager. It was scheduled for 5pm in the TTF lounge. With Tdisc members lounging in the chairs and reporters gathered around pushing...trying to get a better view, I took to the mic to introduce the man of the hour.

TDP: "Good evening. Thank you to all who were able to attend this press conference. We don't have a lot of time...so i'll get right to it. Due to the big week ahead we will not be taking any questions. I speak on behalf of all tdisc when I say that we are ecstatic to be bringing on a man of this caliber. Ladies and Gentleman the stagmaster himself....John Q-bag Cusack!"

CRM: "TDisc, and all supporters,
I, John Q-bag Cusack, consider myself very lucky to be given the opportunity to join the TDisc team. To take part in such an organization is truly a blessing, but to be named Community Relations Manager is more than I could ever ask for. I look forward to working with athletes of this calibur and know that everyday working with Tdisc is something to be treasured. I can only hope I don't fall short of expectations. I was nervous when the vote took place but I think the nacho dip I supplied for the diaper party put me over the top.
All the best Saturday boys!!

This is very exciting news. However, I have better news to talk about. We have now reached $1850 in the Tdisc Santa run. Folks...this something special. We are now making daily trips to the mailbox to recieve donations from away. I encourage you to be a part of this. The suits have arrived and we are all ready to run on Saturday. 5 days left to donate!

Coach addresses the team

Scratches:Bull Patterson (gf sick)

It was a slow morning for tdisc. We had a short swim followed by a quick hottub. And for those who are wondering...tdisc is really cranky on monday's. Especially the big gun...he doesn't like Monday's and after the weekend...today was no different. For the record my diet has changed to nacho dips and chocolate. After this mornings swim coach tdisckree publically addressed the team.
Good Morning Tdisc,

You may have noticed that I have attached the newest addition to the Tdisc family to this email. The big four have voted unanimously to hire on John "Cubag" Cusack as Community Relations Manager of TDISC. This title may change very soon to "General Manager" but we'd like to work him in slowly. Welcome to the Team Cubag !

As coach, I wanted to bring to everyones attention the importance of the week ahead and outline a few things we need to accomplish this week. I am sure Cubag will jump on these and give us each some individual direction, but lets make sure we take care of the following things.

1. Get Santa Suits - We race on Saturday.
2. Private- team only
3. Continue training - This is my big concern right now. We can't have Santa's walking in a 5k ...hahahhhah. or puking ! I am scared boys...I've been eating junk and that suit is gonna be friggin hot and heavy. Let's make sure we train well and can all finish the 5k respectively.
4. private- team only
5. private- team only
6. private- team only
7. Party details - Trace assign stuff to us that we'll need to pick up or make. I will take care of all the entertainment - Trust me, it is gonna be good. The christmas carols/trivia/skits/special music/and speeches will be good.

Tomorrow we have a long run. Back to the slippery sidewalk running.

Breaking News!

Courtesty of Tsn.ca:

At a surprise diaper party for the admiral last night...Coach Tdisckree and Captain Tdiscgreggy were spotted having a tight lipped meeting with John Cusack over by the meatballs. A few minutes went by and then they called in the admiral and Tdiscpye. This usually means that there is about to be a vote. It is widely speculated that John Cusack has been voted into Tdisc. Job title and details of the deal to follow.

Flashback Friday!

At 4:52am this text came through..."Staying home sorry." It was from our big gun the admiral. When you're sending texts at that time of the morning....you're not working out. When the alarm went off I was quick to pull the plug on this mornings swim. I had a tough ed fitness class last night and a game of hockey at noon today. It's the off season...I felt like I could use the rest this morning. Our captain and coach also took the morning off but our prized rookie the bull decided to go work on his stroke.

As promised for the month of December, I will be having what is known as "Flashback Friday's." Well this week I've gone all the way back to January 30th/09. It was a Friday, the dog days were in full force...Tdisckree and I were quitting once a week. I was on a train going southbound. I had major soreness in a lot of areas. 3 days prior Tdisc laid the biggest single thumping on a teamate since Tdiscgreggy got left behind on the bike back in september of '08. That's when I finally said frig this and began to make the push for Fredericton. Tdiscgreggy was really feeling it at this point and just the day before had called out Spin class instructor Tdisct(w). The admiral was hampered with teeth problems and Tdisckree was ready to say "frig this" with tdisc. This was the end of an emotional roller coaster of a week...Enjoy!

Tdisc on edge leading into the weekend
I woke up this morning after having probably one of the best sleeps i've had in weeks. I left in great time giving me a chance to relax on the way in. As I was getting changed in the TTF lockerroom the other members of the big 4 came trickling in. I knew it wasn't good when Tdiscgreggy came in ahead of the admiral. Next thing ya know the admiral comes pacing through the doors...without saying hello he goes...."What". I knew we were in for a long one...but what I didn't know was that a meltdown in the pool was in store for a light friday workout.

Today we decided to add sprints to our half an hour jog. We'd sprint a half lap then jog...then sprint a lap...then jog. It was pretty tough but I felt like it was a good change. When we finished Tdisckree and I decided it was best we take 5 minutes and stretch...but Tdiscgreggy and the admiral decided to skip the stretch and head right to the pool.
when we were heading to the pool Tdisckree said "you watch...the admiral has a bad attitude and he's late...he'll be just pounding out the laps." Much to our surprise the admiral was perched up in what used to be known as Tdiscgreggy corner....friggin with his goggles. So we jumped in and started doing some drills. I felt good swimming today but i'll admit that I was a little thrown off having a person on each side of me wizzing by me like twice a lap. As I was taking a couple of breaths all I could hear was a loud vulger tirade coming out of Tdiscgreggy corner. It was the admiral...here is what I caught. "This is the last #&@%*$@ time I stop swimming for a week. I'm @#$&@$# brutal today." At 7:45 Tdiscadmiral exited the pool...hurling the pull buoy out into the middle of the aqua aerobics. Tdiscadmiral's swim today could easily be compared to the one back in October when Tdisckree was cutting him off at the spa. As for the rest of the team we had a pretty good swim. We got some great tips from a fellow triathlete Scott. By the way Tdisc thanks you for that Scott. We all exited the pool at around the same time with spirits pretty high....with lots of talk about this summers circuit.

Tommorow shapes up to be a good one. Tdisc may be looking to make another statement.

Till next time,

Early christmas gift

As we road the stationary bike it was suggested that we do a gift swap within the team. It was quickly shut down by the admiral(head of the budget). In a short statement the admiral said "no." It was then that the big gift came via our rookie. "I'm giving Tdisc 2 weeks of me being happy for christmas." Great gift from bull. I also gave out an early christmas gift. I'm going to give flashback friday's on blog. I will search through the blog archives and repost some of the greatest blogs of all time.

We had a great bike workout today with bull running us through an endurance set. We finished off the workout with a short weights workout. It's back to edfit tonight.

Just a reminder that there is only 9 days left to donate to the 1st annual Tdisc Santa Claus run.

The dog days!

I battled Bryan all last night....it's quite clear to me now that i've officially entered the dog days. I went to bed way too late and got up seeking some motivation to swim. For the first time in awhile I laid in bed and looked at the ceiling for a few minutes before getting up. Finally I rolled out of bed and threw on my trunks and left for the pool.

I entered the changing room to see the boys standing around waiting to go in for the swim. The admiral who was waiting impatiently finally got up and said "Time for those kids to get out of the pool" and stormed down the hallway. I entered a few minutes behind the rest...they were already going hard. I really battled it this morning...I often heard yells coming from the other lanes in the form of "get off the wall...get off the wall." I eventually settled into a rhythem and ripped off about 1200-1500m. We even through in a few scullie's at the end.

It's been a tough few days getting back into the routine from the weekend. I've been emotionally eating. Today I chocked on a pistacio shell and for some reason thought it would help if I ate a lot. Not the case...I just ended up sickening myself. My diet hasn't been that bad....I just need to get it fine tuned again.

Tomorrow we bike and do weights. Tomorrow night i'm back to ed fitness, followed by a swim friday morning. Should be a good end to the week.

Also, we are looking for an update from Central Canada. Katy Kat we haven't heard from you in awhile.

Bryan is back!

I had a great weekend away with the Holland College women's hockey team. I really had no idea what to expect going into this weekend. I had coached women once beore and swore i'd never coach women again. When asked by the captain if I would help out I immediately said no but changed my mind and said yes the next day. It was definately different but overall I really enjoyed it. We had lots of laughs. I'll never forget the first convo I had when I got on the bus. I turned around and asked the girl behind us..."who is our goalie?" "Aww...Pecker." she responded. "Pecker?" I asked. "Ya her name is Miranda but everyone knows her as pecker." I couldn't help but laugh.

Last night I had great intentions of getting up and going for a swim...even though the team was taking the morning off. However, when the alarm went off there was no thought at all about working out...just shut it off immediately and went back to sleep. When the alarm went off the next time I knew things just weren't right. Within the next hour I began showing symptoms. By 10 am it was official....Bryan was back! Here's a list of the symptoms in no particular order.
1. Food addiction flares
2. Feeling like quiting things
3. Doesn't phase me that I missed a workout
4. Don't feel like talking
5. Extreme highs and lows

I had my food addiction well under control going into the weekend. I hadn't eaten bread in over a month. Wow did that ever change. As I just finished eating my 3rd piece of garlic bread the captain asked "want half of this?" referring to another piece of garlic bread. With no hesitation I responded..."sure." It was a disaster!

I look forward to getting back with the team tomorrow. We have a big week ahead of us. Just a reminder there is only 12 days till the 1st annual Tdisc santa claus run. Anyone wanting to donate then please contact one of the Tdisc members. Thank you!

The Coach Responds! Captain has his back.

Prepared Statement:

" As the first, longest serving, and winningest coach in TDISC history I am angered by the voters of the latest poll. However, this is one situation where the tail won't wag the dog. I will be staying on for the duration of my contract and under no circumstances will I hand the reigns over to anyone unless it is Simon Whitfield...and in that case I would stay on as Associate coach. I built this team from the ground up. I named a captain (TDiscgreggy) who has been a good leader for this group. Me and Tdiscgreggy are on the same page, therefore the leadership is strong on Tdisc. Tdisc is simply entering the portion of the season known as " the dog days of winter." The initial weeks of the "dog days" can sometimes be draining physically, and even devastating mentally. I plan to push through these days and field a successful entry in the 2010 Atlantic Canada Triathlon Season.

"As for me getting fired...I can't be fired. I have a lifetime contract and I'm not going anywhere !!!! "

TDK - Head Coach

Shortly after the captain released a statement:

As captain of this team, I am 100% behind our coach. I stand with every decision he makes. Enough said.

Captain

All business....

As we pedalled away on the stationary bikes I couldn't help but notice that there was no talking. For minutes on end things were very quiet. We did bike sprints and whatnot for 40 minutes and then finished with a short circuit.

Tdisc hasn't been the same the last few days. Our coach has lost the team....and hides from the media. However, that's not the big problem. The major problem is with the blog. As author of the blog I think I have lost my team and a number of key blog readers. Today's turmoil has made my food addiction flare for the first time in over a month. I just went back for more meatloaf. Now I sickened myself on it. This can't happen...I have decided to take a few days to think about whether or not it is best that I step down.

Enjoy your weekend....

Breaking News!

The first ever athlete of the month goes to......................Bull Patterson!

"He's put in a good month"-Coach tdisckree

"I read back a few blogs...he's been getting it lately. He deserves the AOM."-The admiral

About once a year someone takes a real good rippin in the blog. Lately it's been bull patterson. The team has been sputtering and someone had to take the blame and unfortunately it was the rookie. His attitude hasn't been great...but he's still consistently put in good workouts. Heck...at this point in my rookie season I had quit 5 times and if I had the blog I would have retired from that a couple times. It's the dog days...keep up the good work bull.

The problems with Tdisc have come straight from the top. Coach Tdisckree has been terrible. There is no doubt about it that he tried to undermine the team this morning. He attacked the rookie in the form taking his goggles. It created a bit of a stir at the start swim. At one point he even suggested that we just go to straight to the hot tub. The admiral quickly put an end to that. I had trouble swimming at the start...the negativity really gets to me. At one point I remember being perched up in the corner of the pool thinking...what has gone wrong with tdisc? I didn't have to look to far to get my answer. Tdisckree was coming down the lane with his head out of the water..."what...I can't see." I slid back into the pool and thought to myself..."Oh captain...where are you?"

I actually swam pretty well at the end of the swim today. Tomorrow we are biking followed by a weights circuit.

Today's swim has sparked another tdisc fan poll. Be sure to check it out in the right hand column.

Back to work!

Scratches:Tdisckree(work)

"The admiral is taking the morning off...do u want to do the same?" -Coach Tdisckree via a text at 6:05am.

My reply to the question was a quick yes. I have put a very good push on lately and decided that an extra day off wouldn't hurt at all. Now that I have my eating under control I don't feel as bad on days off. I actually felt great on Monday and was ready to go on the run this morning.

We went for about a 40 minute jog this morning. It was very uneventful. We spent most of the run just catching up on what happened over the weekend. We followed up the with a quick abs workout put on by bull patterson.

Just a reminder about the fan poll in the right hand column. If u have not yet voted then be sure to do that before it runs out. Also if you have not yet signed the guest book then we would appreciate if you would take the time to fill that out. Thanks!

Tomorrow we are back to the pool.

Long week!

Scratches:Tdisckree (Monctonian)
Tdiscgreggy (wrist)

I knew the moment that I woke up this morning that I was going to struggle on the run. It was a long week and I don't think the 1500m of kicking in the pool yesterday helped at all. I dressed really warm this morning thinking that it was colder then it was. Big mistake...I realized that about halfway into the run.

Bull, the admiral, and I set out on about a 14k run. About 500 m into the run bull asked a very good question. "Whose idea was it to run 14k?" I was really hoping my chi running would kick in but it didn't. I battled from start to finish. By times I even contemplated walking. Bull Patterson was much more calm today but he was still quite worried about the time. We ended up cutting a bit off but not very much. I at one point had the jacket wide open...gloves in my pocket, and hat in my back pocket. As we finished everything was all calm until all of a sudden the admiral started yelling expletives and grabbing for his left shoulder. "Quick patty here...massage it...quick." awwww...roared the admiral as patty went to work on his shoulder. It was something to see. The admiral had an unexpected cramp in his shoulder as we finished the run.

Tomorrow is a much needed rest day.

What's up with The Bull?

Scratches: Tdisckree (didn't want to be tired for his trip to Moncton)
Tdiscgreggy (Wrist)

Every Friday morning we join a triathlon swim class. I know that going every time i'm going to be completely gassed at the end. Today we started with flippers and did 1500m of freestyle and kicking. It was so much kicking that my feet were beginning to cramp up. When we finished that, we did some explosive work then finished with a few drills. For the third straight day bull patterson came to the workout with a bad attitude. Tdisckree borrowed his goggles the other day and then didn't show for the workout...so bull had no goggles. For some reason he attacked me and the admiral over it. "Let's just run boys" said bull patterson with a bad attitude. He was ready to pull the shoot on the swim. "I haven't swam all week...i'm swimming" said the big gun while putting his foot down. Bull's attitude slightly changed when he put on the flippers for the first time...it was like christmas morning. "These things are awesome" bull announced to the lane while kicking with all his might. The chaos that was going on during that few minutes was something else. I made one and only one trip down with no goggles. There was so much water in my face that I may as well have just swam with my head in the water. I'm sure if we did this for most of the class they would have had to postpone aquafit.

There was no time for the tub today so we just went straight to the showers. I knew there was going to be conflict with bull over tomorrow's start time so I mentioned it to the admiral before hand."Want to start at 9." I asked. "sure" replied the admiral. So as we finished showering we mentioned the run tomorrow. "9am run time bull." "boys let's go early" replied bull. The admiral gave in a bit and said "fine 8:30." "Fine...I don't need to run." replied a bull with a bad attitude. So we attacked his attitude for a few minutes and said we'll see you here at 8:30am.

Saturday's are our long run days. We will plan to run somewhere in the range of 13-14k.

bull's latest snapping has sparked a new fan poll. Be sure to check it out and vote. It's in the right hand column. Thanks!

Bull knows best!

Scratches:None

"No boys....it's all that make up that they put on for the camera." -Bull paterson trying to convince the rest of the group that carrie underwood isn't good looking.

Today we went for a brisk 6k run. The captain was a little tardy so he was left behind. It's never fun leaving a teamate but it clearly states in the constitution that you must be on time. We all ran well. I was a little tired but that has become the norm for me during the middle of the week.

As we arrived back at the TTF we were met at the door by our captain who joined in for the weights circuit. Instead of doing the weights I decided to stretch for the remainder of the workout. Bull has been on edge lately and again today he showed up to the workout edgy. He first bumped the admiral on the way down the stairs for the run, then he tried to tell us that Carrie Underwood wasn't good looking and Brad paisley shouldn't be a country singer. That drew a negative response from the team. His next comment struck deep into the admiral's heart which almost led to a fist fight. "Tyra Banks has fake hair." stated Bull. "No way...she's on for like 4 hours a day." replied a ticked off admiral trying to get up out of the TRX. Cooler heads prevailed and they worked it out between themselves.

Tonight it is back to Ed. fitness followed by swim class tomorrow morning.

Over the hump!

Scratches: Bull Patterson (Truck)
Tdiscgreggy (upper body)

We planned on biking for a half an hour then swimming for a half an hour. As we got halfway through we decided that we would just continue on the bike for the remainder. We haven't spent much time on the bike discipline lately. It felt great today to have a good hard ride. Captain Tdiscgreggy was absent due to his injured wrist. Bull Patterson's truck wouldn't start this morning so he made the dreaded phone call to the admiral announcing his scratch from this mornings workout. "Do u want me to pick u up bull?" asked the admiral. "No nevermind" replied a mentally worn out rookie. The dog days are beginning to set in.

Again this week I weighed in 4 lbs lighter then the previous week. A major reason for that has been my new diet and the addition of 2 ed. fitness classes a week. Tonight I was back to ed. fitness. It's now something that I look forward to each week.

Tomorrow it is tdisc in the morning and ed fitness at night. Keep on keepin on!

Missing belt pushes bull to the brink

Scrathes:Tdisckree (work)

Over time you learn to almost the exact minute how much time that is needed to get ready and arrive at the ttf. For myself it is 25 minutes. That includes bag packed and clothes by the side of my bed the night before. I have a point and i'll get to it in a minute.

We all sat in the lounge awaiting the arrival of our prized rookie. "He's never late...I'll go check with kree and see if he heard from bull." The admiral said as he paced the lounge. Finally 5 minutes late bull patterson came walking through the door. Not saying a word to him we proceeded to go outside for a run. "It's freezing out...we should be inside." Complained a bull that never complains. "you show up late and now your complaining about running outside." Barked the admiral. We knew something was up and we didn't find out until we hit the trail. "I spent 15 minutes looking for my belt this morning." mentioned a disgusted bp. "Bull you need to pack the night before." replied the captain. "He'll learn" added the added the admiral. Everthing was ok until late in the run when the admiral accidentally bumped into bull. Bull nearly exploded on the big gun, but cooler heads prevailed. We didn't bother mentioning at that point that he was fined for being late. Bull was still on edge as he entered the changing room where he had a beef with the coach. Details of that squable cannot be released to the public.

On the flip side...we had a good run today. Personally I ran well. Again I practiced my chi running technique. It definatly needs work but it's helped me run a bit easier already. We went for an 8k jog then stretched for a bit. The weather was fairly nasty...raining off and on with a heavy wind.

Tomorrow we bike and swim. We are almost halfway to our goal for the 1st annual Tdisc Santa Claus run. Tdisc thanks you for your donation. If you have not donated yet and want to then just get in touch with a Tdisc member and we will find a way to make it happen.

Admiral scratches 45 min before workout

Scratches: Admiral (fatigue)
Tdiscgreggy (Upper body)

Shortly after 6 my cell phone began to beep. It was a text from the admiral saying that he was just too tired and was going to stay home. As I sat up on the side of my bed with my cell in hand...the bad thoughts began to go through my head. How good would it feel to set the alarm 2 hours later and roll over. Finally I decided it just wasn't worth the hassle so I got up and took off for the pool.

When I arrived I mentioned to the boys that the admiral would not be attending the swim. "Just tell me next time. All I need is a phone call and it'll be canceled." Replied a half disgusted tdisckree. Meanwhile he is standing there with the shallowest pair of goggles that I have ever seen strapped tightly to his head. Bull patterson was just sitting on the bench pointing and laughing "I told u man they were tight." "Look my eyelashes are scraping against the front." Tdisckree complained. Tdisckree had forgot his goggles and was left with the decision of swimming with water in his eyes or buying a pair. Thanks to Scott...Tdisckree swam with a pair that looked like they had no rubber around them.

As much as none wanted to swim...we actually swam pretty well. We worked on our stroke for a majority of the time and then did some sprint 50's to get the heartrate up. At one point tdisckree looked up at me with one eye full of waterl..."ever swim with one eye?" tdisckree asked. I chuckled and continued on with the swim.

Tomorrow we are back running together as a full team.

Chi Running

I ran into an island marathoner not too long ago and he suggested that I read a book called "Chi Running." He's now putting up some really fast times and he's going to Boston for the second time. So I decided to take his advice and began to read the book. It's a revolutionary approach to effortless, injury-free running. Most of us tend to power through runs with our legs. This book teaches you to lean and use your core which makes your running much more efficient. So I have been reading the book for a few days now and today was the first day in which I tried to use the chi style. My style up until now has been the "get your legs going, arms swinging, and finish as fast as u can." Bull, the admiral, and I were the only ones able to go for the run this morning. We set out for an early 11k run. I was concerned about how sore my legs had been from the week so I was really hoping for this Chi running to work. Throughout the whole run I was focusing on my posture and the mid foot strike, as well keeping my pelvis out. It was confusing and I often kept falling back into my old hunched posture. By the end of the run I didn't have to think about it as much and i'm not just saying this but it was much more effortless on the legs. I didn't find that I was any faster....It just didn't seem to hurt as much. My legs felt great and I seemed to breath much more easily.

Needless to say the run went well...I stretched for a long period of time following the run. I've worked more on my flexibility lately and it's been paying off. Tomorrow is a much needed day off for the boys.

Just a reminder that there is only 28 days left to donate to the 1st annual Tdisc Santa Claus Run. The total continues to rise. We are quickly approaching the support needed to supply 3 families in need.

The admiral gets promoted

Friday is usually a day where we get to sleep in and start our workout at 7. Not this morning. There is a new swimming class that has started up for triathletes. Unfortunatly it starts at 6:30. So last night I talked to Tdisckree and Bull about it and we decided that we would give it a try this morning and go from there. Well...when I was leaving the gym I heard that dreaded sentence "You call and let the admiral know." When I called the admiral he was in the middle of changing a diaper...Shortly there after I informed him of the the schedule change. I took my profanity laced scolding like a man and moved on to prepare for the mornings swim.

The swim class this morning was awesome. We did roughly around 2k of up tempo swimming and kicking. At one point we were doing 100m sprints while breathing every 5th stroke. For those of you who have trouble breathing every 3rd stroke I really encourage you to try this. For those of you who don't swim...well stick you head under water until you feel like you can't do it anymore....wait a couple of seconds then breath. It was so uncomfortable but it was great for my breathing.

It was about halfway through the class when we got moved from 5 lanes to 3. That was when the coach pointed at the admiral "you...over with the big boys." It was a proud day for Tdisc.

Just a reminder...We are still accepting donations. No donation is too small....no donation is too big. P.S don't be surprised if you're watching compass some night and you see 5 santa's giving the weather.

Also...Tdisc is proud to announce that as of Nov. 15th we will be moving the headquarters back to where it all began 195 Blue Heron Lane.

Tomorrow we set out on a long run.

Parade talk

As I arrived at the TTF this morning I noticed that the admiral wasn't all that talkative. I soon found out why. Usually pacing ready to get things going....a very tired admiral sat in his usual chair beside the sink with his head down. "rough night admiral?" "I was up every hour" responded the admiral. "I'm tired today" he added. Any other guy on this team is home in bed after that...everyone is waiting for him to hit the wall...it hasn't happened yet.

We set out to do intervals today but as we got started we just decided to go for a 40 minute jog. We decided to go easy on the intervals until we move inside. I again felt sluggish on the run following ed. fitness. I was quite sore...so the jog was very much needed in order to loosen up a bit. The run talk was 100% about the christmas parade. Coach Tdisckree assigned Bull patterson and Captain Tdiscgreggy co-chairman of the tdisc float. I can't release details at this point in time but I'm assuming it may be a lot like the team jersey's.

Tonight I have ed. fitness again. Tomorrow as a team we are in the pool.

Remembrance Day!

We were able to get up and go enjoy a nice workout this morning thanks to those men and woman who fought so we could have this freedom. Today was a time to remember them. Thanks to all veterans and the men and woman who are currently serving our country.

We decided to sleep in this morning and meet at the TTF at 7:30 sharp. My new Livestrong biking shorts drew quite a chuckle from the boys. I must say it was pretty funny. For those of you who watched WWF wrestling growing up...it is kinda like the outfit Mr. Perfect used to wear. "Put a shirt on...there is kids coming up her in a few minutes." Tdisckree barked as he was leaving the changing room.

We did about 30 minutes of bike sprints...run by bull patterson. Then he put us through about 15 minutes of tough core. It was a short workout but a tough one.

In an effort to drop some excess weight I went to ed. fitness again tonight. 30 minutes into the workout I have sweat dripping off the peak of my hat. I really enjoy it...it's something we kind of neglect with Tdisc.

Tomorrow we are outside running intervals....it's hump day!

Missed blog

When we made up the schedule for the upcoming season we decided that mondays would be an optional day. You were still required to get the workout in, but you could do it on your own time. Well Monday morning I decided that i'd take the option of sleeping in and do my workout during the evening. It's always a good idea at the time but when you finally get up you kick yourself for missing the workout. Halfway through the morning I recieved a text that said..."that doesn't happen again...no optional days for you." As it turned out I didn't miss much...the boys declined to swim and soaked in hot tub for the whole workout. Captain Tdiscgreggy(wrist) was also absent from the workout. Since I missed the swim I decided to go for a run with tdisckree after work.

Since I ran last night I was a little tired during this mornings run. We went for about 35 minutes at a moderate pace. We finished the workout off with a 20 minute weight circuit, stretched for a bit then hit the showers. The captain continues to run while having a cast on his arm...but the swims are done for awhile. The admiral who says he can go on 4.5 hours sleep said Cole slept for 2 hours straight which gave him all the sleep he needed to be ready for this mornings workout. Bull Patterson is all caught up on his yardwork after having the weekend off. Tdisckree was scratched from this mornings workout due to the ordinary joe's training session.

My food addiction has caused me to go to an extreme diet in order to conquer it. Lately my eating has been bang on. Combine that with the 2 extra ed fit classes I lost 4 lbs last week.

We received this email from the blog first thing this morning.

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Motivation by RookFlick":

Have read this many times and still come back to it every now and then to put things in perspective. Thank you for sharing this."

Tdisc thanks this anonymous blogger for their comment. We greatly appreciate the feedback.

Just a reminder that there is only 1 month left till the Tdisc Santa Claus Run. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will be used to help families in need at christmas.

Also if you are a reader of the blog then please sign the guestbook located in the right column. Thanks! We would like to give a special shoutout to our Tdisc spokesman in Central Canada...Katy Kat.

Optional day

We took a vote in the middle of the week and decided to make today an optional day. It's been a busy time with the baby coming and bull patterson was behind on the leaves so tdisckree and I decided to go for a run on our own. Today was the first day that I ran in my full winter running attire. I felt quite comfortable throughout...except for that one area that tends to get colder than the rest. Tdisckree and I went for 12k down through victoria park and up through the bs.

After the workout we went over to the market for breakfast and ran into 1 former tdisc member(rookflick) and a former person on tryout(Josh vessey). Josh vessey thinks he may give it another shot once soccer is finished. It will have to go before the team...no gaurentees that he will be accepted back. Rookflick will be welcomed back with open arms. We haven't talked about this with rookflick...but we were approached by his family this morning and they've decided to send him back to tdisc. "He needs to go back with Tdisc."(rookflick's mother-In-Law refering to his bad attitude.) I've always said it...Tdisc is a lifestyle. People need tdisc and tdisc needs people.

Tomorrow is a much needed day of rest. We start back on Monday. Big news about the next generation...Cole David Brioux is home in his own bed.

Tdisc pushes on

In fear of a fine I recieved a call from the admiral late last night letting me know that he wouldn't be there in the morning. At 5:20am this morning Captain Tdiscgreggy texted me to let me know that he had a doctor's appt. and wouldn't be able to make it as well. Tdisc had already approved the leave and neither really had to notify us but they did...so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding. We appreciated the gesture and proceeded with a small squad.

Last night I went to Ed fitness again. I haven't sweat that much since I ran the half back in the middle of October. It was a great circuit put on by bull, and coach Tdisckree. I'm really looking forward to doing it again next week.

This morning I woke up quite sore. I was really glad that we had a swim scheduled and not a run. Everything went smoothly in the morning and I arrived at the pool just before 7. As I was chatting with the boys in the changing room I opened my bag to get ready...No friggen trunks! I have no idea how I could possibly forget them but I did. "What are you going to do?" asked Bull. Before I could answer tdisckree replied "he won't go home...he'll just have to buy a new pair." He was right...so I had to go out to the front desk and purchase a new pair. "What size?" the lady at the front desk asked. Knowing I don't exactly have a swimmers body I replied with the usual answer that often brings on a snicker "the biggest you have." They were great trunks but $49 was an expensive swim.

The swim went well today. We went through an endurance workout that we recieved from our friends at swimplan.com. In total we did 1700m that took us roughly around 45 minutes. It was the hardest workout that I have done in the pool since the one we did on wednesday. Bull Patterson was doing everything he could to keep up and for someone new to swimming he was doing very well.

Tomorrow we have a 12k run followed by a much needed day off on Saturday.

The next one has arrived!

Cole David Brioux was born early this afternoon. The next generation of Tdisc is under way. The whole Tdisc family would like to extend Congratulations to Tdisct(w) and the Admiral.

This morning we were forced to run shorthanded. For obvious reasons the admiral was scratched and Tdisckree(exam) was also a late scratch. Tdiscgreggy, bull, and I did 5k with stairs after every k. I found it quite tough and stumbled a few times on the stairs leaving with only a banged up fingernail. We finished with a stretch and then made an early exit from the TTF.

Last night I decided to try Ed. fitness at the TTF. It was great, although it left me quite sore during this mornings run. I`m kind of a sucker for punishment and will give it a go again tonight. For anyone thinking of joining a class, I highly encourage this. Tomorrow we are back in the pool for a long endurance swim.

Till next time,

Admiral demands discounts

Captain Tdiscgreggy entered 5 minutes late and walked right over to the admiral who was sitting on his bike and handed him a dollar. "Thank You" said the admiral. He was the second person to get fined in the first week of training.

We began today's workout on the bikes. Coach Tdisckree put us through some tough sprints. I didn't think I was going to get a good workout in on the stationary bike but much to my surprise I was gassed after 30 min. We had a short stretch then made our way down to the pool. Tdisckree and I each swiped our swim card to get in...and tdiscgreggy decided to purchase a card. The admiral handed the girl at the front $3 and walked in. When he got in the changing room we pointed out that when you purchase a ten pack of swims u get a deal and get in for 3.60 a swim. Hence the puzzled look on the staff members face when she recieved the admiral's payment.

We paired off in two lanes and went through another swim plan courtesy of our friends at swimplan.com. It consisted of 1500m which had 10-100's in the middle. It was extrememly tough. "That was the hardest think that i've done in awhile" the captain said following his swim.

Again today we were without our prize rookie Bull Patterson. Tdisc has announced that Bull Patterson is Day to Day with the H1N1 virus. Tdisc has strict orders that Bull doesn't come within a block of the admiral.

Still waiting on the next one. Tdisct(w) and the admiral are expecting the arrival any day now.

Tonight I'll be giving Ed. Fitness a try. It will be something a little different from the usual training. Tomorrow we are back to the running.

If anyone is wondering how they can support the first annual tdisc santa claus run then you can contact me and I will figure out a way to do so.

Where's Bull?

I always know i'm early when I hit the lights and NR road and meet the yellow car(the admiral). Today was one of those days. As I arrived at the TTF I had to look twice as I noticed the captain pulling in the parking lot in front of me. He is really taking this $1 fine for being late seriously. In case you have not heard...Tdisc has decided to fine team members $1 if they are late. This will go into a pot that will be used for a team party at the end of the year. Tdisckree(work) was unable to come on the run...and Bull was yet to arrive. So we waited....and waited...issued the fine then had to leave. It was a low point having to leave a teammate behind but we thought bull never misses...something must have happened. Our run went very well. We ran for about 40 minutes at a moderate speed. Other then a few minutes cramps I for the most part felt great.

Much of the shower talk today concerned the one and only bull patterson. Shortly after this mornings workout the coach issued a statement regarding the rookie.

"I did recieve a text this morning from Bull Patterson. Sometimes my texts come in delayed. I recieved it at about 830 but the time it was sent was at 612am.

However, there is more serious news...Bull Patterson did arrive at TTF around 930 am. He was visibly sick. As coach of the team I am taking precautionary measures - Bull Patterson will go under quarantine for two days to ensure he doesn't have a swine flu. He stated that he had a violent case of "runners trots". Considering that runners trots aren't a sympton of the H1N1, then I believe the cause of his illness is food poisoning from a bad batch of "cottage cheese."

A further announcement will come at days end."

The donations have begun to come in. If you'd like to help out in any way then please let one the tdisc members know or send a comment through the blog. Your help is greatly appreciated.

In a side note I'd like to welcome Anne Marie to the blog. She is the last member of the "adversaries" to cave in and begin reading the blog. I'm glad we can now put that barrier behind us and move forward.

Tomorrow tdisc hits the bike then followed by a swim.

"Backs Dry"

I must say that it is great to be back. I have missed my daily routine of training with the boys and forwarding the daily events on to the people. We kick started the 2009/2010 training with a 1700m swim. I came with a swim plan courtesy of our friends at swimplan.com. It went well. We stuck to the plan up until the end when we were given the tip to keep our backs dry. In other words we were swimming deep in the water rather than swimming on the top of the water. We appreciate the advice and proceeded to do a few drills that helped us with that. The only low point of the morning came when I showed up 2 minutes late and the admiral verbally assaulted me and threatened me with a fine. I knew I was in the wrong and apologized and began swimming.

Today I felt great getting up. My body feels rested and ready to begin the journey all over again. My food addiction has been totally under control over the past week except for an hour or two on Halloween. Tonight I bike on my own and run as a team tomorrow.

Captain Responds

Good day team

I am pretty jacked up about our new schedule for the upcoming months. I
am not going to lie I have enjoyed the extra rest this week with the
extra hour of sleep. But I am still looking forward to getting back at
it next week. I have been doing some thinking over the past week, and I
am really looking forward to this season. I found last year I was just
in it to get in shape and finish a triathlon. It was the hardest thing I
have ever done but with such a busy summer I never got to reflect on it.
Then the marathon came along and I pushed myself to new levels in
training, and this was still not the outcome I was happy with.
I was very honored to be the Captain of tdisc, but this may have been a
cop out in how hard I pushed myself. This is going to change starting
next week, I feel I am at the top of my game right now and it will only
get better. I no longer will train to "finish" or "compete" I train to
win. In doing this I plan to push myself to keep up with the admiral and
bull for as long as possible, and I feel these two men will take me
places where my goals will be accomplished.
I have received some positive news in the past weeks that I may not
even require surgery on my wrist at all! This has been a lingering
injury in my life that I have always had in my mind, in which would set
me back. I will find out next Friday whether I will even be getting it.
The doctor is very puzzled in how my wrist could have been fractured for
3 or 4 years without healing but in the last year and a half they have
grown together, and the blood flow has grown stronger to the bones in my
wrist. All I could think when he was telling me this, (tdisc really does
change lives). If this goes well there is nothing holding me back.

Watch out, these guys are for real!

Captain
Greetings Team,

I hope you have enjoyed your two weeks of rest and recovery and look forward to the first phase of our training for the 2010 Season. This year's theme is " Why Not?". However, there will be several other phrases that will become commonplace around the TTF such as

Success is found on the extra mile !

Own the podium !

Do you believe ? (Official slogan of Tdisc and Canada Olympic Team 2010)

A farting horse is a working horse !

As coach of this team I look forward to the year ahead. I hope you will all arrive on time and in good spirits at our first workout. There will be no fitness testing this year but there will be individual meetings on a monthly basis.

Attached you will find a monthly calendar for November. This will be the "Base 1" Phase of our program and will last till December 19. Please post your schedule on the fridge and be cognisent of the start times. I will go over the schedule at the first workout.

I look forward to seeing you all on November 1st.

Welcome Back!

"Pye it's your turn to get your profile on the Wii." "No that's ok" I replied to the room full of people.(half that I didn't know) In the end they coaxed me into getting it done. For those of you who don't know what it is...It's a video game that makes a look a like of you then plays doctor Oz and tells you your body mass index and how old your body is. I cruised right on through the facial features and whatnot. I must say it's a rather humbling experience. So It came time for me to step on the wii. I did a few balance things and it took my weight and whatnot and then came the results. "40" and "obese". "Great i'm an obese triathlete with a 40 year olds body." I didn't take it well and nearly came to blows with the wii. "Pye it's not proven to be totally accurate" Someone suggested. Cooler heads prevailed and we flicked on the hockey game.

"Are we stopping macdonald's?" tdiskree asked. "ya" I replied. A couple exits later I asked "Are we really stopping at Macdonald's?" "Ya" Tdiskree replied. A few minutes pass by and then tdisckree asks "Do we really need MacDonalds?" "No" I suggested. We pulled in to Tim Horton's....for a donut! That stop led to a deep discussion on our food addiction. We came to the conclusion that something has to be done about our eating habits. We train like dogs and eat like junk. It was then that the food addiction challenge was introduced. Details to follow.

In the words of Morrie Schwartz `Today is the first day of the rest of our lives.`
I can`t look back...I can only look forward. Today I locked eyes with 4 mini kitkat bars and after a minute stare down I said `not today food addiction...not today` and left the room. I`ve been junk free now for nearly 24 hours.

Tdisc doesn`t resume full team training until Nov. 1 but i`ve been ordered by the team to go back to work right away. I will ease back into things slowly. Tomorrow I have a swim planned out that should take about an hour. I haven`t heard from the team but I assume things have been going well. The admiral and tdisct(w) are expecting any day now. Should be exciting year for tdisc!

Till next time,

The Day After!

"It won't happen again boys." -Bull Patterson

I really don't know where to start with this entry. Well i'll start with describing how I feel. I feel like Junk! My calves feel like they are going to explode with each step...when I bend over my admiral hamstrings scream with pain. My back, hips, thighs, shins, and feet...they're all shot. When I was going through the great canadian bagel drive thru this morning a man leaned out the window and said "wow, you guys left it all out there." I chuckled and replied "Ya...we go hard." I don't have to walk very far to realize that I gave it my all.

I wasn't that excited leading up to the race. I guess it's probably because I had never done it before and never knew how big of an event it was. I was still quite nervous about it...I'm not that strong of a runner and when you run for 21k anything can happen. In a nervous panic I spent most of the day Saturday at indigo reading running books. Just incase things went poorly I walked out of the store with "Tuesdays with Morrie." We had a great pre-race meal at the admirals place on Saturday night. Although I left thinking to myself....I'm going to see those meatballs again.

I woke up good and early Sunday morning. I went through my usual routine of getting a coffee and bagel into me right away. I didn't feel nervous until I met up with the admiral and Kree and we began putting on our bibs and chips. I set a goal of 1 hour 40 minutes and I told people that. As I was arriving to the race I said to the boys "why the frig did I say I would run it in 1:40." I was really rethinking my goal...considering I had not run 10k at that pace. As I looked up towards the confed center there were people everywhere...I was officially terrified.

5 minutes prior to the start we made our way up to our usual starting position...Right at the front. We pride ourselves on our great start. Tdiscgreggy goes "look over there" pointing to the sign on the right...It read 1:30. None of us planned on running it in that time but we were going to start with them. Bang...the gun went off. The race was under way...and just like we wanted we were out in the top 20. At the 1k mark it was tdisckree and the admiral just ahead of me and tdiscgreggy right behind me. I was happy with my start but I wasn't impressed with the shin splints coming on. I couldn't believe it...what a day to get those. They didn't slow me down though and I continued on with my pace. At the 5k mark coming up belvedere avenue I had a burning sensation in my stomach and I remember telling myself..."just get to the trail...better place to puke." When I hit the trail the pack began to spread and I found myself running alone. I knew I was on a pb pace but I was scared that I was wearing myself out early. I never really thought I could run it in 1:40 until I hit the 10k mark and I was over a minute under my personal best. From that point on I knew where I was every kilometer. With 5k to go I knew I had a good shot with 25 minutes remaining. The hill by calvary temple was absolutely miserable...I could tell my legs were tiring because I was kicking stones. Knowing there was an easy finish...I pushed it hard until UPEI. I hit the shell with 1 minute to go...I knew I had accomplished my goal. Not wanting to puke coming across the line I eased back...but when I entered the finish, with everyone standing around it gave me that extra little bit. For those of you who have never stepped on that red mat...you have no idea how good it feels. The atmosphere around the finish line was awesome!

We all achieved our goals and surprised a lot of people but not those who have seen us train. I think the sprints, hills, long runs, and the taper leading up really benefited us. There was a guy that pushed us along over the last month of our training that was unable to race. He was in our thoughts throughout the whole race. As we were at the starting line we could see in the distance a man holding up at T. That's when the captain looked at us all and said "We run this one for Bull Patterson boys." I know it was a major disappointed but Bull Patterson is for real...and he will be there next time.

I didn't realize how special this event was until I ran in it. From the endless amounts of water/gatorade/gells stations to the music stations(I'll never forget "P-p-poker face, p-p-poker face"). The people shouting encouragement never gave us a chance to give up...thank you for that. The whole organizing committee....you guys need to be applauded, that race is going nowhere but up.

To Tdisc...Great race...Great year!

Bull Patterson Pulls out!

"He would have made us all run faster times." -The admiral (refering to bull's scratch)

The word from the coach is that bull patterson will not be running in Sunday's big race. He has yet to notify the blog or address the team as a whole. The team is extremely disappointed with the news. They're shoes that can't be filled, but we will do the best that we can to protect the admiral in the early going and hopefully give him the space and comfort needed to go it alone at the end. There is wide speculation that Captain Tdiscgreggy will ride shotgun with the admiral for most of the way.

Pre-Race Report

Tdiscpye- I don't think i'll ever get to the point where i'm not nervous for a race. Like Tdisckree always says "if you're not the the slight bit nervous than you're not the slight bit ready." Today i'm a bit nervous...tomorrow I will be a lot nervous. No matter what the outcome is...it will still be a stepping stone for Tdisc. My strategy will be to get to the front early and make people go past me. My goal is to do the first 10k in 48 and close in 52. 1h40m. My predictions: You're as strong as your weekest link...I expect all 4 to finish under 1h40m.

TDK Pre-Race

Comments :

"Looking forward to the challenge. Will be painful, but it will be a good accomplishment for myself and the other members of Tdisc. Running is not my strong suit and I've been inconsistent over the past few weeks. Hopefully, I will feel well on Sunday. My in-grown toe-nail shouldn't be a factor but I will monitor it closely in the next few days. I will follow the captain's orders and soak it in salt water."

My strategy :

" I will go out hard...very hard. I'd like to be with the leaders for as long as I can be. When I say leaders, I mean I'd like to be in third place by the 6 kilometer point ( Bull Patterson and Admiral will be the only two ahead of me.) I should hit the wall about that point and I'll pull her back for a couple kilometers and then finish the final 13k at a steady pace.
Actually, it probably won't be that dramatic but I will leave hard and will definelty over-do it the first half of the race. I won't rule out a short walk during this race.

Predictions :

1 Tdisc member will have a crack at the podium. 2 Members will finish in the top 10.

No members will retire during the race, but there may be talk after.

Admiral will race with his cell phone clenched in his left hand. He will toss it away 6 k from the finish which is the same time that Trace goes into labour and tries calling him. He will be greeted at the finish by Wayne Gairns and driven immediately to the hospital.

(This was submitted prior to Bull Patterson's announcement.)

Captain’s pre race report

Since this is my first half marathon I am not sure how everything is going to go down. For tdisc I think that there will be 4 pb tomorrow. We will range from 1:37 to 1:45. The admiral will be the one to watch on race day. We are disappointed that our Rookie will not be racing. This is a disappointment, because we had high hopes for him, and he was going to be the driving force to push the admiral.

As for me, this will be the first race in a long time I feel ready for. I have no excuses but to set my pace and go with it. TDP may choose on race day to run together for some of the race, it will be a game time decision. The last time I made a time prediction it was not even close, but I am going to take a stab at it again, my goal time is 1:42. I will be happy under 1:45.

This is going to be the biggest race tdisc has taken part in, and I am excited for it. It will be painful but fun at the same time. Good luck to all competitors, and GO TDISC!

Can’t wait for tomorrow,
Captain

"Frig Tdisc...none of my clothes fit anymore." -Bull Patterson

I felt great getting up this morning and was ready to swim but when I reached the side of the pool I just couldn't convince myself to get in. The captain and I sat on the pool deck for at least 5 minutes dangling our feet in the water before we took the plunge. You know that you really don't want to swim when you take the alternative approach of lounging poolside bare yingfa. I felt great once I got in the pool. I did a warm-up, drills, and a cardio set. I swam for about 30 minutes then hit the hot tub with the boys.

As we talked about the half marathon this weekend...tdisckree informed us that he may be a late scratch due to soreness in his big toe. He also summed up his thoughts about the race when he said "This race is like when your playing hockey and your out of the playoffs but you still have to play 2 games on the road."

The pre-race statements are beginning to trickle in. I hope to bring the report to the blog by Friday night. Tdisc will go on our for the next few days leading up to the race as everyone prepares differently. Tomorrow I will run. Saturday I will take off. Rain and wind in the forecast for Sunday...

Talk of Vacation

With the poor weather again today we were forced to run indoors. It took awhile to get things going this morning. The usually chipper and ready to get going Bull Patterson was down in the dumps. For those who don't know, bull has been having troubles with getting his truck to start. So he replaced the starter and bought a new battery. When asked what was wrong bull replied "I was up late working on it and it won't even turn over." Bull was fed up! We didn't leave the changing room until the admiral barked "Let's get'er goin."

I read in a magazine last night that when tapering you should decrease your mileage but not your intensity. Well, today that is what we did. We went for a hard 5k that split the field in the final few laps. I really needed that push on the run today and I felt great afterwards. After the run we stretched for a bit and talked about vacation after the run on Sunday. Most people say that you should take between 1 week and 3 weeks off. Tdisckree has announced that he will be taking 2 weeks off. With my food addiction and other things the team and I have decided that anything over 10 days could spell trouble. So I will begin my training as soon I get back on the 27th. The rest of the team has not yet released their schedules for a return.

So far Tdiscgreggy and I are confirmed for the PEI half marathon on Sunday. We are still waiting on the rest. It is widely speculated that the admiral will make it official on Thursday. Be sure to watch for the Tdisc Pre-Race report that will be coming out over the weekend.

Tomorrow we are back in the pool.
