Tdisc announces Official Radio Station

This morning was a sleep in rest day for Tdisckree and I. For the rest of the team is was spinning as usual with tdisct(w). The big news of the day came when Tdisc announced that KROCK 1055 was the official radio station of Tdisc. Shortly after it was announced we recieved this comment from Krock 1055's own Zack Bell "You guys are famous ... a shoutout on KROCK and a link on the Fishbowl page at www.krock1055.com ... keep up the good work boys .. but next time you run by the "media" you have to slow down or do something funny ... frig you were fast!! " Tdisc thanks Krock for there support.

As some of you may have noticed our Captain Tdiscgreggy kept to himself as of late. Public interviews were far and few between...well today our Captain cleared the air.
"Good morning Ying fa!
T.Disc it has been way to long since I addressed the media, and it ends now. I was away for a week, and as the days rolled on it did not matter how hot the girls were walking by in bikinis, I missed T.Disc. T.Disc is a addiction and a great one. I took the whole week off last week, and I am paying for it this week. The run felt great on Tuesday, but doing weights in the evening I pushed too hard to quick and now have a undisclosed injury. I was more mad at myself than TDISCKREE was disappointed in me. I am doing everything I can to heal quick so the intense training for red Isle begins.
Rookflick, admiral and myself had a great tough spin class but were really feeling the squats and lunges from yesterday. I felt like rookflick because I have NEVER sweated that much in my life, but it is all good.
I am looking forward to Saturday and letting the chirps start after we go through a few legs on the relay. I know that rookflick will be pushing it hard so he can prove himself and maybe knock off a teammate to fill a spot for the relay!
T.Discgreggy,
It is great to be back, and can’t wait for tomorrow…"

Injuries come with training for a triathlon. Today I woke up with what is now called "admiral hamstrings". We try to keep these things just to the team but today this leaked out to the public...
"TDISCKREE DAY TO DAY WITH INJURED COCCYX."
"In a strange turn of events Tdiskree is injured. Recognizign soreness in the Tailbone Tdisckree was self-diagnosed with an injured coccyx. This is the tailbone region. BHM group released the following from emedicine.com to explain to the media the type of injury this is

The coccyx, or tailbone, is the triangular bony structure located at the bottom of the vertebral column. It is composed of three to five bony segments held in place by joints and ligaments.
A coccyx or tailbone injury results in pain and discomfort in the tailbone area (the condition is called coccydynia). These injuries may result in a bruise, dislocation, or break (fracture) of the coccyx. Although they may be slow to heal, the majority of coccyx injuries can be managed with conservative treatment.
Tailbone Injury Causes

Most coccyx injuries are caused by direct trauma to the tailbone area.
* A fall onto the tailbone in the seated position, usually against a hard surface, is the most common cause of coccyx injuries.
* A direct blow to the tailbone, such as those that occur during contact sports, can injure the coccyx.
* The coccyx can be injured or fractured during childbirth.
* Repetitive straining or friction against the coccyx (as happens in bicycling or rowing) can injure the coccyx.

Tdisckree had the following to say : " I had extreme discomfort on an indoor ride on tuesday and have been sore sitting since. I sat on the bike at the TTF today after diagnosing myself and I almost passed out. LEt me make this clear...IT IS NOT A HERMHEROID !" I have had that before and this is much different. I may need pain medication to get me through the Saturday ride."

Oh ya and just to clear up the rumour...It was not Tdisckree streaking downtown. We strongly discourage such acts here at Tdisc.

Tommorow is the big day....The admiral's profile will be posted for all to see. If your a fan of the blog....trust me...You really don't want to miss this. It will definatly be one for the ages.

Till next time,

TDK and TDP Sign on with Speedo!

Last night as I was preparing for the evening swim class I noticed that the back of my Yingfas were beginning wear. When Yingfa's begin to wear it means they are slowly becoming see through. So I decided to put them on and carry on for one more swim....I'd just have to be careful and keep my rear end to the wall as much as I can. Just when I thought I was in a bad situation I turned around and noticed Tdisckree in his yingfa's...the wear on his were 5 times as bad as mine. He may as well been going out for a swim in a jock strap. So I instantly started laughing my head off...that is when he turned and said "What". "Look at the back of your yingfa's" I responded. That's when he noticed..."Oh frig I can't go out there like that...guess i'm not swimming tonight." Not wanting to give up his swim he got changed and went out to buy a pair at the front desk. Tdisckree walked up to the counter..."I'd like a pair of xl trunks...i'm a 34 waist"....The gentlemen at the desk responed "well Large is for a 34 waist...the xl might be to big and then you can't return them"..."That's ok....i'm not to concerned about them being to big". Considering we all have xxl yingfa's. With only Speedo on the rack...right then and there TDK ended his 8 month relationship with Yingfa Swimwear.

This morning we met bright and early at the TTF for a weights circuit. It was a tough 40 minute workout that consisted of squats, lunges, presses, and quick feet.
Immediatly after we proceeded to the Cari pool. That is when my relationship with yingfa ended. I pulled out my trunks...still smelling like chlorine from the night before...then I noticed...the rear end was twice as bad now. So I walked up to the desk to get a new pair..."What size" the lady at the desk asked. "What's the biggest ya have?" I responded. She handed me the biggest one's "you better try them on to make sure there not to big"...."No they'll be fine" I replied. Off the the changing room I went. Wow...I thought the yingfa's were tight....these ones I had to pull out and pull up at the same time....Just reafing on them. One thing about them...I don't waste much time having to tie them up.
The swim went good today..It was rather short...we did a combination of drills and 50 meter sprints. After the workout the arguing began. I just told TDK that the negativity was getting to him...that's when he said "Tdiscgreggy and I are going to throttle yas at the Red Island Relay"....A bit more Jawing occured between the 2 teams....details of the discussion was agreed on by both teams that it be best not to share with the public.

A few house keeping details...umm first of all you will notice in the right hand column a schedule of events. Tdisc will NOT be dressing a full squad for these events...however Tdisc will more than likely send at least one participant to the event.

The time as come...Friday will be the day that the world finds out more about the man they call the Admiral. BHM and Tdisc have notified Google of this and they are going to great lengths to make sure the site doesn't get jammed on friday. The Tdiscadmiral profile is expected to challenge Janet jackson's wardrobe malfunction for the most hits on one site in history. Trust me...You don't want to miss this one!

Tommorow it's back to spin and in the pool in the evening.

The Captain Returns

The day started off well today when our Captain Tdiscgreggy returned to the team fresh off a vacation down south. Tdisckree was really beginning to slide the last couple of weeks but today he ran like did 2 weeks ago. Tdiscgreggy wasn't long putting his stamp back on Tuesday race day by quickly going to the front and upping the pace to keep Tdisc out of there comfort zone. For the first 5 k it was an absolute battle for me but it seemed like as the run progressed I began to feel better. At one point rookflick announced to the team "It feels like i'm carrying suitcases."
Today we had the chance to run by the KRock 1055 fishbowl...and give a wave to Zack Bell and Colin McKay who were busy getting PEI going this morning. It gave the team a good boost at the halfway mark. The thought of a Bun,patty,cheese,6 strips of bacon, patty, cheese, mayo, ketchup, 6 strips of hickory smoked bacon, bun got me to the top of university avenue.

Tonight i'm back in the water followed by weights, and swim in the morning and then an evening team bike ride. New pics will be added tonight.

"keep on Keepin on"

Today it wasn't the alarm that got me up...It was the bird chirping outside my window at 4:45am. I layed there for a bit then finally relized he wasn't going anywhere. So the first thing I tried was banging on the window....didn't work...so I then got up...got a glass of water then opened and shut the door(I imagine Tdisckree and the neighbors were real enthused about that one)....still didn't work. So I grabbed my ipod....threw in the headphones and went to turn it on to find it dead. Great....chirp chirp...2 second pause...chirp chirp. So then I tried the finger in the ear...nope...couldn't sleep...so then I finally threw a pillow over my head...it muffled it just enough to fall back to sleep. Beep Beep Beep..."you got to be kidding me"...so I hopped up and hit the snooze figuring I had lots of time. 5 minutes later off goes Tdisckree's alarm and he hits snooze. At this point i'm pretty much just lying there with my eyes closed. 5 minutes later my alarm goes off...I was so tired so I hit the snooze again. 5 minutes later Tdisckree's alarm goes off...he hits the snooze again. So I'm thinking....I'll just swim tonight...I had a bad sleep. 5 minutes later.....thump thump thump up get's tdisckree "Get up". Without much hesitation I got up...meanwhile announcing every excuse I could think of to get out of the swim. Getting no feedback I grabbed my things and headed to the TTF. We've been doing it for 200+ days and Nope it doesn't get any easier.

The problem with the monday swim is usually trying to find the motivation after coming off a high weekend of racing. Your body doesn't really want to do anything and neither does your mind. Maybe it was my attitude...but today I felt great in the pool. I had a goal in mind of doing 100 of swim, kick, drill, pull for 1500meters. I had no problem accomplishing that goal. Everyone else seemed to have the same impression...some went as far as doing 2000+ meters. For Rookflick it seemed to be a bit of a struggle but I must say his stroke is really improving. "I don't think he's going to quit."

With the Mother's day time Trial coming up in 2 weeks...I wanted to get out on the course and find out where I was at on the bike compared to the other riders in competition. So tonight Tdiscadmiral and I did the route. It was a 19k loop....It was quite hilly but we were happy with the way we road the loop. It was a good time of bonding for tdisc2 with the Red Island Relay 1 month away. We had a chance to talk about the Running races, the upcoming season, and expectations. I personally think that it will surprise people to see that Tdisc just will not settle...we can always improve on our time.

Tommorow is the long run day(formally known as Race Day). We will look to start early and do about 12k. Swim in the evening.

Pictures of the Race should be up soon....thanks for your patience!

The Day After!

I felt yesterday's race was the toughest race that we've been in this year. For us these races have been a lot about how much pain we can put our bodies through. With a combination of the warmer temperatures and longer than 10k route our bodies really worked hard yesterday. We had a great time at the race...afterwards is a great time to mingle with fellow triathletes and runners and of course the fans of Tdisc.
Tdisc would like to thank Sporting Intensions for making the day happen...Tdisc will get great use out of these sugoi shirts and socks....thanks....the people along the route shouting out support (The Frizzell family, Tdisct(w)).....all the people that took pics for the team....also like to thank the peiroadrunners....the charlottetown police for stopping the traffic...and one big thanks to the person who roared at the finishing line "he's right behind ya"...that's all I needed to win the sprint finish.

Running races are used to increase our ability in the 10k run of the triathlon. So after the race we refueled and met at the admiral's for an evening bike ride. What was supposed to be ride to loosen up and get used to the bike turned out to be anything but. We left the admirals on route for brackley....when we arrived at brackley we were 30k in...it was a nice relaxing ride. Next thing you know panic set in...rookflick was late for supper...so we took off like a flash...uh oh...very
strong headwind. So we put the hammer down...just givener into a headwind...when all of a sudden a roar went out "where is the admiral". So we stopped and waited...no sign of the admiral. Word finally came via rookflick..."the admiral has a flat". So Tdisckree waited behind with the admiral....rookflick, tdisct(w) and I left to go get a car and get rookflick home. About 5 minutes later Tdisckree comes hammering it by saying..."he's going to thumb it". Needless to say it was quite a finish to a tough day. The admiral ended up hitch hiking to the cat dealership...then tdisckree drove past him and went to brackley...so the admiral had to go to a nearby phone and track Tdisckree down. 3 hours after leaving... Tdiscadmiral arrived home from a nice easy bike ride.

Through a phone interview....Interim Captain Tdisckree had this to say...
"First, I'd like to congradulate TDP, TDA, and Rookflick on personal best times at the sporting intensions Event. It was a good statement by all of them. As for myself...I was optimistic with my time, but not my placement. I have a number of ways I will improve my preparation and my actual race performance next time. Here at Tdisc we look for reasons...not excuses. I'll refocus and be going hard at the TTF tommorow. I'm very excited for Tdisc and our inaugral season. This will be our most demanding week of training yet. I think the emotional high's of Tdiscpye and Rookflick, and the return of inspirational leader Captain Tdiscgreggy will make it a great week for Tdisc. The theme of the week should come as no surprise...."Keep on Keeping on."

Sunday morning Ian hennamansing had a chance to catch up with Rookflick...
"Well, Saturday was a struggle. I set the timer on my watch for 45 minutes before our 10km run as i felt that that was a realistic goal for my first race of the season. I was short only a few dozen seconds. The run was a hard one, especially when I realized that the promised 8 km water station didn't exist. I started off way too fast. It didn't take long before i remembered that there was also an unofficial 5 km race and a lot of the people who started off fast turned at the 2.5km mark. It really was a long hard run but it felt good to finish it and I enjoyed the moment with my wife Kate and daughter Elle as well as the tdisc members. All was great until I overheard tdiscpye mention a short bike ride later in the day. This would be my first ever road bike experience. What was supposed to be an hour break-in ride turned into a 2 hour enjoyable and hateful afternoon. Getting to Brackley was a breeze but returning in the wind was aweful. Especially for the Admiral who ended up walking most of the way. I have to admit that I did enjoy most of the ride and do look forward to the next one hopefully on a nice windless day."

Today the coach and I went over a rough draft of the season's schedule. It will have to go before the rest of the team before it is finalized...so if you have a race and would like Tdisc to be a part of it than let us know asap. We will be doing a combination of triathlons, bike races, and running races.

Today has been an off day for tdisc. I will use it as a day of stretching, icing, and sleeping. Tommorow were in the pool then an evening bike ride.

Till next time,

Captain Tdiscgreggy Report
Hey Tdisc,
I am having a great time down south the weather is amazing and I am meeting a lot of great people. I have told many people about Tdisc and have at least 5-6 people comng to watch in freddy beach. I thought about going to the gym but it is just to hot. It is a paradise down here, lay by the pool and beach all day, then get dressed up and got to a fancy place for dinner than drinks with new people. I love it but I miss tdisc and can't wait to train with my boys again. Also I have eaten things I have not eaten at home since I started with Tdisc. I thought it will be hard to start my training again, but I miss it so much I am going to come back and train harder than ever. I will attempt race day tuesday depending on how the trip home goes. I hope everything is going great with you guys, and see you soon.
Have a great weekend,
Tdiscgreggy

Confirmed Tdisc Participants:
The admiral
Tdisckree
Tdiscpye
Rookflick

Participant Statements:
Tdisckree-How I'm feeling :
"Well, not very good. I felt over the last couple months that I was running better everyday, however my cramping in the pool has caused havoc with my left upper calve. I can't straighten it after I have been sitting for a while. This morning was the worst yet. I will stretch it and run this afteroon to see how it feels. I may then seek emergency physio with our therapist Rita Holland. I expect to run but cramping today on my run will change my mind completely. The cramping has taxed me mentally."
What to expect :
" I expect Admiral to start with a blistering pace and head to the top. Anyone who thinks he isn't going to try and break 40 min is out of their mind or just doesn't know him that well. The same goes for me...I will start quick and hope to break 42 min. I expect Tdiscpye to start quicker than normal and be more aggressive than he has been for earlier events. He is starting to warm up to my racing philosophy " Come in on Fumes." I expect we'll see him dip into the reserve tank to break 45. I expect the rook to be cautious but quick. I really don't know what to expect from him. He is a good runner but might be shy at the starting line.
*expect Rookflick to stay with confidant and pacer tdiscpye...and in a gentlemanly move allow the veteran to take 19th at the line. If Rookflick gets fancy and goes with Admiral expect him to be the first of Tdisc to "woof the cookies" in a live race."

Tdiscadmiral-
How I'm Feeling:
"Feeling pretty good today. I decided to run for 25 mins last night andtake the whole day off today. I think I'm ready. I'm afraid thoughthat badminton might take alot out of me, there is going to alot ofstanding around. I think tomorrows race is going to be very deceiving. After looking atpeoples times from last year they were on average about 1 minute slowerthan they were in the DQ race. So again, I'm not really sure what toexpect. I also heard that the race is a little longer than 10k. I will admit I'm going to do my best to put up another good run thisweek. A top ten finish would be nice. I expect to see TDK right on mytail at the get go to help set a good early pace with TDP followingright behind. The shocker of the race might come from Rookflick as he may put in asolid run."

Tdiscpye
How i'm feeling:
Well...I went for a light jog today to loosen up and to be quite honest and knocking on wood...i've never felt this good. I felt lean for the first time in about 23 years and I felt loose and my injured left shin felt great. The reality is that anything can happen in a race of a 10k distance...so I will continue to work on the shin tonight...and eat properly and do whatever it takes to be ready to go tommorow. I know i'm better than I was last week...but the tough week that i've put in may catch up to me late in the race. I expect the admiral and Kree to leave hard out of the gates and pace together until the admiral makes the turn...and then he's going to turn him loose. It's been a tough week for tdisc...there just might not be enough in the tank this week. With this being a sanctioned race...points are at stake...that may come into play. I expect rookflick to do something special tommorow...

Rookflick
How i'm feeling:
I'm feeling nervous...but prepared, excited and focused. I expect the race to be hard...but I expect to do well for my first race.

Predictions:

Tdisckree:
Tdiscadmiral - 39:30-40:30 - 5th
Tdisckree - 41:30- 42:45 - 12th
Tdiscpye - 44:45-46:15 - 19th
Rookflick- 44:45-46:15 - 20th

Tdiscadmiral:
Admiral- 7-10
TdiscKree - 11
Tdiscpye - 21-23
Rookflick - 21- 23

Tdiscpye:
Admiral- 40:10 - 6th
Tdisckree- 42:35 - 12th
Tdiscpye- 46:59 -25th
Rookflick- 45:18 - 19th

What the fans don't know about each member :
Tdiscpye - Does Yoga and mental training exercises the night beforeevery race. Tdisckree - Stops at the Tim Horton's on NR Road prior to each race todrop weight. Also, will get a buzz cut and mustache for the racingseason.
Rookflick - Is the co-owner of Ellediva hair clips.
Tdiscadmiral - Sleeps bare Yingfa on nights before swim workouts. Hewants to become one with the Yingfa before swimming. Each morning wakeshe says "Good morning Mr. Yingfa."

Number 135

When I arrived home tonight and went to the mailbox to see if any yingfa's came in I was suprised to find a rather thick envelope. As soon as I opened it I knew right away what it was...It was my official Peiroadrunners racing Bib number...number 135. If anyone would have told me last year that I would be a member of the peiroadrunners I think I would have asked them if they were drinking. I honestly never pictured this day.

This morning we had the usual spin class with Tdisct(w). Personally it was the most i've ever sweat during a spin class. I found it to be extremely tough. We had a good group today...but we did miss tdiscgreggy and tdisckree and Bob Gray. It was nice to have Wayne Gairns in the back row today...he really keeps the front row honest. We didn't bother running today..instead we opted for a longer stretch.

Tonight Tdisckree and I had swim class...We started with drills then did a combination of 50m sprints. Tdisckree just wasn't himself...he forgot his yingfa's. "i'm a half length slower without my yingfa's" a devastated Tdiskree said while frigging with his goggles. Overall I had a great swim...Again I left with the swimmers high...while tdisckree is debating his swimming capabilities.

Wondering how Tdisc is feeling going into the race on saturday...well check back tommorow as the blog features the world famous ellediva hairclips pre-race report.

Fact about Tdisc- It is customary that team members bow in and bow out of there yingfa's. It's our way of saying thanks for being there for us in the water.

I received word from Tdiscgreggy's agent today that the trip is going great. In a statement sent to BHM today....Tdiscgreggy's agent had this to say about his trip "he's been enjoying the beach and pool and is planning on going on some excursions and golfing the next few days. He also said he doesn't remember when but he got a tattoo on his shoulder of his ford focus with the Abby and Eddie mascot heads visible in the trunk. Let's hope the Tdisc uni's cover that one." His leadership has been missed over the past week...can't wait to have him back in the lineup.

Double blog day!

As all of you know by now...Tdisc isn't just an ordinary training schedule...it's a lifestyle. When we first sat around the round table as a team we decided that we can't keep this lifestyle from people. So 18 days ago we granted our 3rd tryout to mr. Jason Flick..now known as "Rook". If your still not a believer in Tdisc than I encourage you to read the following letter sent to Tdisc yesterday.

"All right lets just get down to it. The truth is that I am loving it. I really didn't think that I was going to enjoy all this training as much as I have. I played hockey every year of my life from the age of 4 to last year and never really got into any other sports. I feel like I am exploring new limits with Tdisc. The running has not been too hard on me since I have run in the past but that's only one aspect of this team. The swimming is definitely the hardest sport i've ever tried. I just can't seem to get my stroke and breaths in sync. It's very frustrating. I'm pretty fortunate to have the Tdisc members along side me to help me with advice and drills but doing what they are telling me is not easy. Every now and then i'll put in a good length and then on the way back i'll inhale a litre of water and half to stop and cough it out. I guess the point is that i'm working on it though. And i like working on it because just like anything else, practice makes perfect. I love seeing the progress. It keeps me motivated and also keeps me wondering how far i can go with this. I've yet to get out on the bike that Wayne Gairns thankfully lent me but I am excited to get out there and give it a go. Jarrod at Smooth Cycle tuned it up for me and promised me i'd love the cycling part. I think i'll do ok with the bike as i've always had strong legs and always loved the burn you get when really working them out. Spin class is awesome too...what a sweat! I'm already looking forward to Tracy's class tomorrow morning. Saturday will be my first race and i don't really know what to expect. I don't know how to pace myself and I don't really know when to start pushing hard. I guess I could just take tdisckree's advice and "just run your hardest to keep the Admiral in your sights, if you see him at the end, you know you did great." Anywho, the training rocks, I'm learning a lot about myself and I'm also meeting a lot of really nice people along the way. Cant' go wrong with that. "

Day 227!

Before I get to today's workout i'd like to talk a bit about last nights swim. Last night was the first time I have experienced the swimmer's high. Lately it's the time in the pool has felt extremely long. Tdisckree and I were in a lane with fellow triathlete Darcy Flynn. The workout began the usual way...doing a few drills that push me to the point of flailing to try and save my life then cardio. There was 2 categories for the cardio...intermediate and advanced. When Darcy asked which we were doing Tdisckree quickly replied "advanced". I snapped back "oh no no no no that's 2000m". "yep keep up" tdisckree answered back. Next thing I knew on was off the wall and under way in the advanced. We had about 40 minutes to complete...we went 400m swim, 100m pull, 300m swim, 200m pull, 200m swim, 300m pull, 100m swim, 400m pull. Things were going smooth...I honestly couldn't have felt any better. As we were finishing the last set I looked up coming off the wall and noticed Tdisckree hanging off the rope wincing in pain. As we finished Darcy asked "What happened." "I have no idea...I'm usually the one hanging off the rope." I replied. After a few minutes he did the breaststroke down to see us and inform us that he had officially experienced cramping. While driving home it was official...the tides had changed...I looked at Tdisckree and said "I have reason to believe"...he then replied "If this happens in the race i'm frigged."

When I was young I had a shirt that read Eat, Sleep, Play hockey. Lately I could almost have a shirt that reads....Eat, sleep, workout, blog, do laundry. One of the most famous quotes around tdisckree and I's house is "Got any darks." I quit folding my laundry in November...when it's dry it goes to the pile.

This morning was a tough circuit at the TTF. We did a lot of quick feet feet high intensity 35secs on 25secs off. We declined to do any lunges in order to protect the Admiral's hamstrings for the race on saturday. We then finished off the morning with a dip in the pool. Tdisckree took the now known as "Rook" under his wing. We did a combination of different drills before finishing off with some sprints.

It's hump day....tommorow for half of Tdisc it's spin with Tdisct(w) and for tdisckree and I it's run or bike than swim. One of the questions by a reader was who is Tdisct(w). Well she is an honorary member of tdisc for her role as a founder of Tdisc...she is also the wife/coach of the admiral.

Calm Race Day!

Before I get started Tdisc and bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com are proud to welcome the latest famous blog reader from the KROCK 1055 morning show Zack Bell. Welcome Zack!

Race day is often a day where the sluggish get run into the ground and left behind to scramble home. Well today was a much different story....it was a very calm smooth run leaving no tdisc members left behind in the admiral's dust. We started as a group of 6 but 2 dropped after 1 person fell ill early on. I personally felt great today...I was worried about my shin but the "make it hurt" that tdisckree advised me to do payed off. We did a little under 10k in about 50 minutes...a pretty good pace leading into the race on saturday. We ran the route that we thought we would be doing on weekend...but shortly after the race we recieved this notification..."I was talking to **** ******* who designed the SI loop and the one online is wrong. Here is the correct one...totally not the one we did this morning." Tdisc was livid! Interim Captain Tdisckree addressed the situation...."Wow...this is a sabatoge to TDISC. There is a conspiracy out there...they are looking to frig up the Admiral. This is a rallying cry for Tdisc...this will be used as motivation for us heading into the weekend."

In other big news today Blue Heron Management Group released this:
"TDISCKREE CONFIRMS UNIFORM FOR 09 SEASON."

After much debate Tdisckree will race in a two piece ORCA triathlon suit. He will run in black shorts with silver and white trim with a white shirt(with sleeves) with silver and black trim. It also apparently was the only outfit to match his budget. He had this to say " I was happy to get something that will look and feel good. The shorts will be good for running and biking(pad included) and the shirt will be great. I wasn't keen on the cut off sleeves so I was happy to get something that covered a bit of the upper arm without adding drag." " I would like to say thank you to **********.com for their help in this process." Other members have yet to determine their race apparel. It is believed that other members of the team will look to go very aerodynamic. In an attempt to avoid wind resistance Tdiscadmiral went "real" short with the hair in a haircut earlier this week. Rumours are circulating that Tdiscpye might be next to lower the ears in an aggressive manner...he was seen walking around the TTF changing room waving a bic razer saying "I'm taking it all...right to the wood."

At this time i'd like to acknowledge the people who signed the guestbook...Scott(fellow triathlete and author of seescottswimbikerun.blogspot.com) Mrs. Flanders(public relations/race day supporter), Jeremy Dager(Congrats by the way...hopefully this one won't run through the screen), Raines(yingfa's are the official uniform of the TTF...your pair will be on order when you start this summer), Billy Jenks(looking forward to seeing you in Miami...p.s.did u ever hear of the admiral...he's comin for ya!) Simon whitfield (your our inspiration), Ellen Taylor (Blog Promoter/ superfan...Quitting isn't an option when your near facebook), Dick in O'town (It's great to have support in central Canada), Logie Mac (Been a big supporter from the start...good luck at the Mem. cup...profiles are coming soon), Zack Bell (love to make the connection with the morning show and Tdisc).

Tommorow were back to the weights, followed by a swim...with a bike ride in the evening.

Just another monday

Today I was back with my buddy...the cari pool. It was the first time back since my latest retiring. I knew going in to the morning swim that I wasn't going to get any sympathy so I was just going to have to get in there and go hard. I just working on drill, kick, swim, drill, kick swim and then did some cardio at the end. Everything went smooth in the pool today...tdisckree was scampering around in his torn yingfa's, tdiscadmiral was racing anyone swimming within 5 lanes of him, and flicker was swimming hard and saying "I'm dying". I felt pretty well leaving the pool. At one point I asked flicker..."Are u going to quit yet" and he replied "nope".
After a long day of work I just really wanted to shut things down for the night but instead I got my bike out and did 32k in about an hour. It was a little chilly on the feet but it felt great to be on the bike.
In case you missed Dave hodges column this week...here it is...

Thumbs up - Sidney Crosby , The Admiral's buzz cut, Tdiscpye's return to Tdisc

Tommorow is race day! We will be running the route of the upcoming race on saturday. The pace should be half quick....but we'll expect very little jockying at the front. 6:30 a.m start.

Off Day!

Today I considered going for either a swim or bike ride but in the end opted for a rest day. Everyone knows this week is going to be a very tough week for tdisc and this extra day of rest won't hurt. I spent most of the afternoon massaging my injured shin. I was sitting in my chair pushing as hard as I could on the side of my shin...while tdisckree was shouting at me "make it hurt". I was skeptical of what I was doing but I trusted his knowledge and continued on. It felt like I was pushing on a bruise...and speaking of bruise it wouldn't surprise me if that's what I have on my shin tommorow.
The schedule this week looks a little like this....
Monday-a.m swim p.m bike
Tuesday- a.m run p.m swim
Wednesday- a.m weights,swim p.m bike
Thursday- a.m spin,run p.m swim
Friday- off Team meal at 195 Blue Heron Lane
Saturday- a.m Race p.m Bike
Sunday- Long swim

Needless to say Tdisc isn't fooling around this week. It's the year of the triathlon.
Just a reminder to please sign the guestbook....I know it's kinda bush league but that's all I could find. Also there will be a new fan poll in the right hand column.
This week the night before the race Tdiscpye and Tdisckree will host a team meal. Pasta and whole wheat garlic bread are on the menu. Should be a good week!

Till next time,

The runner's high

Well...today I was back at it....and to be honest it felt great being back in the mix. We agreed on a 11-12k run today which would start at 8:30. Today we were again without captain tdisgreggy who has been under weather and as of now sitting in halifax waiting to fly out on vacation. You can never fill shoes that big but today our affiliate flicker stepped up in a big way. He has kind of brought some new energy to a team that was getting a little stale. Today our run went great...the pace was none to fast and everyone stayed together throughout the whole run. We did it in about an hour to hour and five minutes. Personally I didn't feel great but I got the job done.
One of the great things about a good workout is the high that follows. It most often occurs after a run. For people who have never experienced it ...i'm sorry. Just to give you an idea of what it does to people...while we were in the late stages of our run today our tryout affiliate was on such a high we spotted him doing pushups and drinking out of a puddle..."Dead serious". Not long after the workout flicker adressed the media. "Being only my second team run today i was very happy to have found myself within the pack. Last Tuesday's run was very likely the worst run of my life. The rain was awful and some of the team members were so far ahead of me i might as well have just took a short cut back to my car and called it a day. We missed Tdiscgreggy today but also wished we were him heading south right now. My legs feel great but my lungs are still trying to catch up. A big thanks to the Admiral today who coughed up 4 loonies so that i could enjoy a juicy Honey Garlic Hot Sausage with him at the market today. Next week is on me big guy. Looking forward to the kiddie pool (and perhaps a few laps) with Elle, Kate, the Admiral and whomever else would like to join tomorrow. I would like to put out a challenge to tdisckree tonight...if the Habs lose to the Bruins again tonight you have to do 5 pool lengths doing the breast stroke...if they happen to win tonight i will wear your Yingfas backwards Monday morning for our swim..." Tdisckree has accepted!
After today's workout rumours began to surface about Tdisc once again making history and placing an "A" on affiliate flicker.
Time to hit the hay...big week ahead....wednesday is fish at flicker's...friday is pasta at pye's...and saturday is Race Day!

Till next time,
Tdiscpye

I'm back

I know what your thinking...in the words of the admiral "enough" refering to my quiting today. The emotional roller coaster this training is putting me through is out of this world. This morning I had no control over the situation. My food addiction combined with being tired and injured came together to form an explosion. This week has been a tough week...My food addiction has flared up again. I just haven't fueled myself the way I needed to. Today my food addiction showed up at the pool and did the interview. I just scrolled the internet for an hour looking for healthy food ideas. My grocery list is as follows:eggs, low fat cheese, peaches, Rye bread, apples, chicken breasts(skinless), Rice Pineapple, cinnamon raisin bagels, stoneyfield light smoothie, carrots, turkey breast, whole grain cereal, fish, low fat yogurt. Anything else I should get?
I know it's been a distraction to the team but I just can't help it. Like I was depressed all morning over the way I acted in the aqua centre. It's like i'm up and then i'm down then up then down. It's like a big wheel going around and your just holding on for dear life.
I had a surprise visit from an inspirational teamate tonight. We just sat around and watched the hockey game and talked about Tdisc. It was good...he listened and I vented about my problems. He's been only around for a couple days but he found a way to make me feel like I play an important part in this process. What's tough about this is that your not only training for a triathlon...your also working a full time job...you have responsibilities with your family...and you have to try and find a way to balance it all. You also face a lot of negativity that is often hard to fend off when your not with the team. people hear the results of the dq race and ask me "wow you didn't do very good...what happened to u?" When really I probably couldn't have been any better at this point but now your thinking...hmmm maybe I should be doing it faster. I have goals in mind...I just have to do a better job of focusing on them.
Believe it or not this is a good lifestyle. I'm blessed to be a part of it. "What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger."
I had endless support today...thank you for that. If this blog inspires one person than it has done the job.

"IT'S OVER...I'M DONE." - TDISCPYE PULLS OUT OF '09 SEASON

BY: Kris MacPhee
Interim Blog Author

As Interim Author/ Vice President of bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com and as Head Coach of TDISC, I am saddened by the news that Tdiscpye (now known as Ryan MacPhee) has pulled out of the 2009 Triathlon Season, and has relinquished his positionw with bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com. What started out as a normal friday at the TTF turned out to be a stunning and damaging day for the Tdisc community. Tdiscpye left the pool area about 20 minutes within the swim and made no comments to team members or media. He then released a statement at 8:24 am that simply stated the login and password of the blog. At 11:16, he was contacted for comment. He had very little to say and was having a hard time speaking while eating chips. A few of the comments made were :

" I am wasting everyones time and my own."
"I am quiting computer."
" I will take a week or so to rest my injuries and start getting prepared for 2010."
" I'd like to thank the followers of the blog...good support."
"I'm just not gonna be ready for the season...I'm not improving."
" Not happy at all."

Being a part of Tdisc I've learned to expect the unexpected because of the personalities on our squad, but this is something I didn't see coming. I will run the 5k Colonel Grey SADD Run tommorrow but Admiral will sit it out. Tdiscgreggy started his spring vacation today and well Tdiscpye ... what can I say.

As coach of Tdisc I urge blog followers to voice their opinions of todays events on the guestbook page or email me at tdisckree@gmail.com or call Tdiscpye personally at 394-4894 and let him know how you feel.

Double blog!

There's been much speculation this week about tdisc struggling down the stretch. Just after I released the early blog Tdisct(w) announced that the "gag order is removed." Minutes later Captain Tdiscgreggy publically adressed the team. "I want to apologize for my efforts this week. I have been a terrible Captain and I hope you can forgive me. I have been fighting a cold, stressing out about my trip, and trying to get two weeks work done in 4 days. I have been barley going through the motions in my T.Disc training, except for spin today which went very well and was very hard. “Hardest one for me yet”, Bob Gray.
We welcomed Flicker to spin along with Senior Wayner Gairns. They both worked very hard and did not miss a step. I will be absent in training for the next 11 days, but I promise the day I return the vacation is over in more ways than one. I need this time away from work and everyday life for a week, but I will miss T.Disc without a doubt.
I want to wish those members of T.Disc who decide to race Saturday the best of luck and represent us well!!!!"

I speak on behalf of the team when I say Tdiscgreggy is our Captain and will always be our captain until he hands the honour down after a long career. Have a good Trip Tdiscgreggy!

This evening I recieved an email from Jason Flick..."How jacked was i to start spinning class today not only with most of my teammates but also with veteran Wayne Gairns battling it out a few bikes down...looked like he hadn't missed a beat. Apparently he didn't miss my pool of sweat forming around my bike as i was near passing out from lack of body fluids. I wonder if i'm the only athlete capable of drowing in my own sweat? Anywho the bike class was awesome. As far as my 5 days off last weekend and early this week, it really put a hamper on my progress. The pool was quite difficult for me early Wednesday but the Admiral set me straight. Will anyone be running the 10km race this weekend? Go habs Go!!"

When training for a triathlon...injury's do occur. Lately i've been battling a bit of an injury. Since it is late in the season we will not disclose the exact location of the injury. Tonight I took the night off to rest what is a called a lower body injury. I have a hot water bottle, ice pack, and muscle relaxers. I was also talking to the admiral this evening and he is also battling a little tightness in the lower body region. This could be enough to keep him out of this weekends race.

Tommorow we are in for a long swim in the morning.

After a sluggish week Tdiscgreggy released a statement...Details to come!

Sleep in

Today Tdisckree and I opted for a little sleep in. The rest of tdisc went for the usual thursday spin class. With a swim tonight and a run after work we decided to rest this morning...for the sake of not making the day any longer than it has to be. I've decided to pull out of this weekends race so that will allow me to workout tommorow on the bike. Flicker and Wayne took our spots in spin and a report from tdisct(w)said "they did very well."
We should find out tommorow whose in and whose out for the 10k sadd run on Saturday. Due to the gag order that is in place it may be just a yes or no. All indications lead us to believe that noone will run this weekend.

Flicker returns!

Once again when the alarm went off this morning I was just like "wow...i'm tired" but once i'm up for about 5 mins i'm ready to get going for the day. With it being bright in the mornings now...my teamates and I are much more cheerful arriving at the TTF. It was nice to have flicker back with us today...but before we could carry on with the day we had to address the situation. As a team we take this very seriously and some teamates took offence to the no show on race day. Flicker appoligized to the team for the missunderstanding and after a bit of discussion the situation has been resolved. We began with a warmup on the ladders followed by a 6 station weights circuit. It consisted of 3 sets of 10. It was high tempo with very little rest...I felt great throughout the whole thing. Afterwards we took some time to stretch before going for a swim.
While having lunch today I stumbled across an article in the local paper that may interest Tdisc fans.
" Lucky for Rips and Rooks."
"Believe it or not...Media covering Tdisc this week are bored. Very little drama and even less comments have had media scrambling to find a story. Most media are of the belief that Captain Tdiscgreggy and Tdiscadmiral have been put under a house gag order by Tdisctw. Tdiskree (knock on wood) has been emotionally stable over the past few weeks and hasn't vented to the media. However there are a few things of interest within tdisc...1. This rookie might stick it out. Questions arose early in the week that he was done but as it turns out he got mixed up on flights and a simple scheduling issue caused him to miss race day. The first workout back he was paired with the Admiral for a 1 on 1 swimming day. Apparently he passed with flying colors and loved being mentored by the one they now call " BIG DIDDY." He was frightened however when he arrived at the TTF this morning to find the Admiral in bare-yingfa yelling at his swimming trunks " You ready to go YINGFA ?" while slapping his quads several times. While on the topic of YingFa, the second story of the day had to do with Tdisckree's YINGFAS. Prior to this mornings swim Tdisckree noticed that his Yingfa's are starting to wear thin on the back (mid-line) and are becoming see thru. Blue Heron Management group were called immediately and a shipment of Yingfa are on route from Japan as we speak, along with a pair for the rookie Jason Flick. It seem that most of Tdisc will sit out this weekends race, but they will officially announce their intensions on their blog....www.bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com."

Very Disgruntled,
Don Morrison

Tommorow were back on the bike...for some it is with Tdisct(w) in the weekly spin class. In the words of Tdisckree "keep on keepin on."

Relaxing Race Day

Due to unforseen circumstances Tdisc has decided to cancel this evenings news conference. Stay tuned for further details.

When the alarm goes off at 5:45 it's just instant devastation. Today wasn't that I was tired it was just like..."I should still be in bed." Waking up to more snow on the ground doesn't make it any easier. With little time to spare I opted for a quick bagel and coffee at Tim's and I was on my way. We arrived at Colonel Gray high school in preparation for a 10k run of the route that will be used for the race on saturday. Today Tdisc showed there strength...after a few days off everyone showed up at 6:30 sharp. Noticeably absent from the run was rookie Jason flick. Noone knows of his where abouts...hopefully over the next few hours we will know more. The run went great....it was a nice and slow pace...with the whole group running together. We all cruised in at around 7:25 am. By the time Tdisc arrived back at the TTF for a shower...word had got out about the absence of Jason Flick. All members declined to address the issue except for Tdisckree. " I take this as a slap in the face. We roll out the red carpet for this rook and he is a no-show on race day. Complete disrespect to the big four...we were looking to give him another pounding on the road on race day. Because he wasn't there today, no one was left behind. What is the fun of raceday if someone doesn't get thumped and left a half kilometer behind ?
Well he's set himself up for imminent death...he either is a no show tommorrow and gets kicked out of his tryout or he does show up and gets lesson #1 in the pool from the Admiral...other wise known as the school of hard knocks. Rumour has it the Admiral is gonna hold Flickers head under water for long periods of time to expand Flickers lunges. I haven't seen it done before but if it works then who knows maybe I'll let the Admiral partially drown me as well a couple times."

Tommorow we are back to the weights with a swim to follow. Hump day is always a highlight of the week. We inch that much closer to another rest day. I've felt terrible all day today but i've come to realize that I just can't work hard on the good days...in order to become a triathlete I have to find a way to get a work out in on the bad days too.

Easter Monday

We all took the opportunity today to get a little extra sleep. It was a tough weekend physically and emotionally. My eating went a little astray on me...but thanks to a lot of support I got through the day with little harm done. At one point I was sniffing around some chocolate cake when mom said "you get out of that now...I shouldn't have that out there tempting u." I got a good run in after work...I didn't feel like doing anything but than I forced myself into a 30 min jog. After I stretched for a bit and got a shower in I felt great. I think it was the best thing to do before race day tommorow.
Race day should be pretty tame. With another race coming up on saturday the boys will probably look to taper a bit going into it. We will be doing a slightly longer route of about 12k. It shouldn't be as fast..but traditionally any race length has led to a sprint finish.
Tdisc has scheduled a news conference for 7 pm tommorow. News conference's are often held to deliver big news. All indications lead us to believe it will be no different tommorow.

Slow Sunday

I slept great last night...I was really tired after yesterday's big day. Again I felt myself feeling a little empty....it's just like you've prepared for race day and u experience the high of running and then it's like back to the grind again ....it's tough. I went for a swim today and I just didn't have it...it was a combination of my body having nothing left and being very unmotivated. I was feeling low leaving the pool but when I got home and turned on the t.v....it was like someone was sending me a message. I turned to a show titled....triathlon...they were telling the story of Rick and Dick Hoyt. Just like that I was back on the horse and motivated for tommorow.
The highlight of the week will be the run for Sadd 10k on saturday. Now that Tdisckree is a registered member he needs to race to continue his push in the points race.
Tommorrow we will be on our own...followed by and extended race day of 12k. Enjoy the masters!

The admiral is for Real!

I`m still waiting for the race results but as it stand right now the admiral placed 10th in a strong field. It was an overall pretty good day for Tdisc. When I get the results I will post them.
I enjoyed being in the atmosphere of the race today. Just being able to hang out and chat about triathlon and sorts was something that will help us moving forward in our season. Today`s race was different from last one. Today my expectations weren`t hi and the nerves weren`t there. It was nice to just go run. I felt pretty good starting out...but finding a pace was a problem...I was very eratic with my time checks. I was cautious going out in 24min and picked it up slightly on the way back coming home in 23.30.
Races like this are only going to make us better. If nothing else it`s a great way to push yourself through a tough 10k. Absent from today`s race was tryout member Flicker and superfan and main sponsor Flickthis. They are presently on leave from Tdisc but will be joining the Tdisc family again on Tuesday.
Tdisc would like to thank a few people from today`s event. First of all we`d like to thank the main sponsor Dairy Queen. The kiddie cone dipped in chocolate was awesome. Umm...Roadrunners Pei....thanks for making today happen. Wayne Gairns for his support on the hill, Anne Gairns for her work with the camera. The Frizzell`s for there drive by support and work with the camera. Ellen Taylor...representing fans of the blog and showing her support for Tdisc by running in the race. Tdisct(w) and Mikaela Ellis for staying close behind me but not passing me and for Tdisct(w)`s work at home with the admiral and Tdiscgreggy. Also for some of the friendly people along the way telling us that we were doing a good job....people in the race for being friendly. Last but not least...the fans of the blog...I probably wouldn`t still be going if it wasn`t for you guys...I just can`t quit now...this blog keeps me accountable. If i`m forgetting someone than sorry...Tdisc thanks you for the support.
Today was just a day in the process of making ourselves the best that we can possibly be on July 5th. Tommorow we will be back in the pool.

Till next time,
Tdiscpye

Participant Statements:
Tdisckree- "I feel pretty good heading into the race. I haven't prepared like I did the 5k. I've trained hard this week so I'm worried about how much will be in the tank on Saturday. However, I'm confident my conditioning has improved over the last couple weeks and I should feel comfortable on the run. I've made improvements in this 1/3 of the triathlon but still have work to do before I can challenge the big boys, so I won't get caught up in playing the hero tommorrow. I'll look to run a good time and put on a good show for the crowd. I liken this event tommorrow to a hockey player taking a power skating school...most people hate skating schools but you need them to make ya better. I don't enjoy 10k's but they have to be done in order to get better for the July 6. I'd like to get out to a good start...not quite as quick as the Bluefin race but close to that. This will be an extremely tough field so it'll be interesting. I expect the Admiral and Greggy to have an finish for the ages, even if they are battling it out for 23rd place. They've been playing a cat and mouse game for the past couple months and this race will let them go at it. I expect they'll drop me early, but if they don't it'll be interesting to see how little talk there will be for 10k or as long as I can keep up. Admiral has become a better pacer but I'm nervous for him in this one...there are some "truly fast runners" in this field and I hope doesn't go for the win because it may sideline him for the season. I don't expect Tdiscpye to be in the mix. He has placed little to no emphasis on this race and has put in 4 two-a-days this week. He won't be running on a full tank of gas, but will still push it hard as he too realizes the Red Isle Relay is just around the corner. What the fans don't know - Tdisckree as promised will have a new pair of runners on . I've ditched the customery black and silver and gone more hip with orange black and white. Tdisckree will go with a roast beef diner for pre-game which may see him take a pit stop this race at the Tim's on NR Road. Hey it's good Friday and Mom is cooking - Here at Tdisc we are serious about our races but we are human. Admiral will have his customary burnt english muffin saturday morning. The smoke alarm will be Tdiscgreggy's wake up call.
"

Tdiscpye- "Once again i'm nervous heading into the pei roadrunners sanctioned event. I've put in an extremely tough week in the pool and on the bike. I'm not as prepared as I was for my 5 k race...i've viewed this race all week as a way of pushing myself through a tough 10k. With that being said I understand this is going to be a really tough field so I can't measure my success on the placement. I'm going in with a time in my head of 47 minutes. If I can reach that time than I can live with the place I finish. I will look to get out in front early and find my pace. I can't see myself being able to stay with the rest of tdisc...I will just look to limit the bleeding. The toughest part for tdisc tommorow will be allowing people to go by while focusing on your own pace.

Tdisct(w)Yo pretty sure i'm doing the race tomorrow. It won't be my best time but I don't know if I'll get to do any more so I figured...cease the day. Especially after putting ourselves through that run on Tuesday, I figured why not.

Tdiscadmiral-Tomorrow is a huge day for tdisc as they inch closer and closer toFredricton. Again, I'm heading into this not really knowing what toexpect. Tomorrow's field may be one of the toughest that we maypossibly see all summer. The nerves are starting to get to me already just thinking about it. Tomorrow is going to be another statement day for tdisc. Good luck to all participants. See you at the finish line!!!!

Tdiscgreggy- "As I was celebrating my completion of school last night, I could not help but search for a new goal to achieve. And the same result kept coming up. T.disc! I have been training with T.disc for over two hundred days and I loved every day of it. Tomorrow is one of the first steps to our transition from training to competing. The bunny hop race is one of the most popular races in the Charlottetown area, and T.disc will be fully represented. I am well prepared and fully pumped for the race. After doing the route on Tuesday it should be a great showing of how far we are along with our training."Predictions:
Tdisckree: TDISCADMIRAL - 22
TDISCGREGGY- 23
TDISCKREE - 31
TDISCPYE -45
Tdisct(w)- 49

Tdiscpye: Tdiscadmiral- 15 or 50
Tdisckree- 23
Tdiscgreggy- 18
Tdiscpye- 46
Tdisct(w)- 39

Tdiscadmiral:As far as predictions go 2 of the big 4 were out last night. I hopethey can recover. If they do, I strongly feel that all members of tdiscwill finish in the top 50.
Tdiscgreggy-"My prediction is that kree will take off right off the bat well I set the pace for the admiral and I. We will have kree in our sights the whole time and when we get back on to North River road it will be a full out t.disc challenge. Once we turn off North River road with one km left it will be a full out sprint.
All T.disc member will break the 50 minute mark and the Admiral will break the 45 min mark"
Tommorow will be a big day for Tdisc. Just not sure which way it is going to go.

The Rook warms up but then gets scratched!

Spin Class is always a day of the week that most of us look forward to. Ya know that your in for a hard workout whether u want to or not. I felt a little tired getting up this morning...it's been a tough week. Everyone arrived on time for spin class except for Bob. So flicker ceased the opportunity and proceeded to warm up on the bike. After about 5 minutes the door swung open and in came Bob to join the spin class. We looked at flicker "alright your out flicker". He was demoted to the poorer bikes at the back. It was the usual class....very tough...break a good sweat. It always feels great once you finish. We then headed to the track to run a few k. It was a nice and easy jog that was filled with Tdisc talk. After we finished jogging we stretched for a longer period of time then normal. Could be for 2 reasons...1 some were sore from race day and weights...2 everyone is wanting to get a little more limber heading in to the race on saturday.
Tommorow is a scheduled team off day. It gives us a chance to have a sleep in and get rested for saturday. I'm sure most will go for a light jog to loosen up. As far as the race goes...be sure to check back here tommorow for the ellediva hairclips pre-race report. It will inform you on who is in and who is out. For me i'm still undecided....I want to race but i'm just not sure I need a good thumping that bad at the end of the week. It's easter weekend...should be an early blog.
From Tdisc to you...have a great easter!

Till next time,

Day 213

Wow...it really is hard to believe we have made it this far. Today just seemed to be one of those ordinary days of training to become a triathlete. Again we started early for the sake of the team...pushing the time ahead to a 6:30 start time. We went through probably the longest weights circuit of the year before going to the pool. The big 4 were there as usual along with flicker who was on day 3 of his official tryout agreement. Everything went smooth...with the early start time there was little to no rushing....it was great. For the first time in awhile there was no problems at the front desk...leading to a 7am start time in the pool. Today it was tdisckree's turn to take flicker under his wing and swim with him for the morning. Today's swim went great...our captain was quoted as saying "today was one of the best swims I have had in a long time. I think this has to do with not being up till midnight with hockey. God it feels good to be a triathlete." There was a lot of support in the pool today for flicker...fellow triathlets took the time to ask how the tryout was going? It was the last easy swim day for flicker...next class is with the admiral...it's called "the school of hard knocks". Today flicker released a statement to the team..."I am really starting to understand what TDISC is all about. Its not just a group of friends training for triathlons. Its much much more than that. Its a team and its a lifestyle. 3 days is easy compared to eight months. I don't know how you've done this for so long but i find it very inspiring. You are a team of individuals who want the best out of yourselves and each other. You are always encouraging and always in a positive mood. I love the competitiveness i see everyday and i strive to match it. Thanks for taking the time to help me along and encourage me to do my best. It doesn't go unnoticed. I can't wait to race with yous someday. It has been hard getting sleep lately as i can't help but lay in bed picturing myself decked out in the blue and black team Yingfas crusing back and forth at Cari. Thanks to tdiscpye and tdiskkree for stopping by during their bike ride tonight. I was very inspired to get out for a short hard run...unfortunately (not really) bedtime stories and bubbly bath time with Elle took priority. I still can't believe i got kree to skip rope with a 6 foot long bag of crap filled diapers...hahahaahha See you in the morning. flicker -# 1 apprentice."Last night was an exciting night for Tdisc. Our very own tdisckree was asked to present the top 10 on the David Letterman show. Here's how it went...
10 Signs that you are becoming a triathlete

1. You no longer use gel because the chlorine left over from swimming holds it like a rock.
2. You carry a tub of vaseline everywhere.
3. When you go to a magazine stand you go straight for the triathlete magazines then head to the book section and look for books on triathlons.
4. When the clock strikes 10 pm you get worried that you won't get enough rest for training in the morning.
5. You convert everything to minutes/kilometer.
6. You nod at strangers who having running gear on...(they know and you know)
7. You will put your foot up on anything (desk, water fountain, counter, chair, car, toilet) at any time to get a quick hamstring stretch.
8. You can't walk past a pool without - looking for possible competition, critiqueing the form of those in the pool, counting the strokes of possible competition every length.
9. Your favorite athlete is Simon Whitfield.
10. When you hear anything about the state of Florida you automatically think of MIT

Tdisc also released it's top 10 signs you are becoming a triathlete by Captain Tdiscgreggy...
1) Every time you are driving in a car up hill, you feel like pulling over and running up it
2) When you are driving over the Confederation Bridge you wonder how hard it would be to swim it
3) No matter where you are and see someone running outside you double check to see if you know them
4) If someone ever tells you they went running, immediately start quizzing them on distance and time, then compare to yourself
5) Your training is more limited by available time then how far you can run.
6) When asked, how old you are you answer 25-29
7) You have a water bottle when you drive your car.
8) You consider work, regeneration time between training sessions.
9) You co-workers don't ask you if you're going to train this weekend, but how long and how far
10) You know it was race day by how many times you go to the bathroom
11) that charming "cologne" you wear to work is chlorine
12) you take more showers in a locker room than at home
13) you spend more money on training and racing clothes then work clothes
14) You don’t care how tight it is, as long as it makes you faster
15) Nobody believes you when you say 'Never again'

Tommorow we have spin class than a jog. It was exciting to see the sun and warm weather that we got today...it's just a reminder that were in the year of the triathlon.

Tdisc is in the process of making plans for it's first ever Tdisc mixer. It will be a great time of fellowship with triathletes. If you think you want to be a part of this tremendous evening that please let us know. Numbers are a big issue.

Till next time,

Rainy Race Day

I woke up to pounding on the roof this morning. I got up wondering what all that noise was when I looked out the window and gazed into an absolute down pour. "Are we running outside" I asked Tdisckree at 5:55am. "Good luck changing his mind"(referring to the admiral) tdisckree replied. So I grabbed a light breakfast and put on my outdoor running gear. Just to give you an idea of how much earlier we were today...I didn't even hear the news this morning. We decided to meet at the Dairy Queen this morning so we could do the route of the race on saturday. Everyone arrived on time and we left shortly there after. The quote of the day was "Nice day for a run"(kinda muffled by the sleet smashing off the face)
I didn't feel great this morning and the puddle jumping didn't help matters. By the 3rd k I just started running through them. It wasn't to bad...your foot would get an instant chill then your foot would slide in your shoe then back to squish, squish, squish. It was nice having flicker there with us today...it would have been a long ol run in the rain by myself. As for the rest of the team....I think Tdisckree won..but i'm not a 100% sure.
Afterwards the boys headed to the TTF for a quick shower...it was also gave an opportunity for some of the team members to address the media. Just leaving the changing room, the media got a chance to speak to team captain Tdiscgreggy..."We had a good chat in the dressing room after and besides flicker> wanting to puke he seemed to enjoy it. It was great to have a big crew> today, and like I said to everyone today, Domi and Tim would not have> made it through those two days. Flickers training in the pool yesterday> reminds me of when Trace used to push me in our pool when I could not> swim and that is how I learned, except he looked a lot better than I> did. With a combination of the first day being in the pool, and running> in that down pour today, if he comes back tomorrow, he is in it for the> long haul.> But the major highlight of the morning was, when everyone was so> surprised that T.disckree ran in his brand new sneakers, the admiral> would not let him have the spot light when he said "frig that boys I> will show you", and put his soaking wet sneakers back on after his> shower and wore them to school"> (he forgot his shoes).> Great run over all today, very impressed with the turnout> Can't wait for tomorrow,"
Then Tdisckree spoke about the morning..."Besides feeling like I've just finished the first leg of the Iditorod, it was good to get outside. I don't really know what the fuss is about the shoes. What if it rains on a real race day - do I put them away for a nicer day ? FRIG NO. Unlike other members of the team I'm not looking to get 5 years out of these runners. You play the way you practice and practice the way you play...That includes my racing shoes. (Holy Frig they are fast shoes...see how quick I got to NR Road ?) That was hilarious that the Admiral had to wear his soaking wet shoes to school...his feet will be like raisins comed mid-day....hahahahhaha... and he wasn't shaven. Kudos to the Admiral for putting his job on the back burner. Going to school un-shaven with ripped pants and soaking shoes is what TDISC is all about. I also heard that flicker puked in the lobby of MacLauchlan Arena leaving today."
(Referring to flicker's departure from the TTF)According to reports A bystander walked by and said " Are you ok?" Flicker threw up again and said " I'm on a tryout with Tdisc, and it's awesome."
Tommorow we hit the weights, followed by a swim.

They call me coach

When the alarm went off this morning I got up, and walked over and set it for 15 minutes later. Then came the announcement from Tdisckree "Are u getting up today". That's when I went on a bit of a rant on how I only had 2 hours sleep and I was going to go swimming in the evening and how it was going to be just a waste of time. Once I got that out I rolled over and got up, got dressed and proceeded to the TTF. I still felt like I didn't want to be there but when I arrived through the door and seen the excitement on the face of a man on a tryout...I couldn't help it but smile. Tdisc is going to change another life.
It wasn't all fun and games...Tdiscadmiral was on the verge of being strip searched at the front desk cause his number wouldn't work. It was a tense few moments....especially when he swiped the card(containing 25 free swims) he got from tdiscgreggy for christmas and it said there was none. They eventually let him proceed to the pool, but i'm sure if you went in there tonight you would see the admirals mugshot all over the front desk.
For some reason today I got a little spooked. There was a lot of people swimming and splashing and walking around...I was just staring into the pool. It was kinda like Clarke W. Griswald when he was imagining his pool...and uncle eddy was on the diving board....then I snapped out of it when tdisckree roared "let's go, let's go...there done at 7".
It was different in the pool today. For most of our training year we have been mentored along by some fellow triathletes. Today it was time to return the favour...we took what we learned and passed it on to flicker. I have to give him credit...he battled out there today. The rest of us did drills and mixed in a little cardio in the pool. Not only is it exciting to have flicker trying out...it also shows us how far we've come.
The media were on hand for today's events and some of tdisc took the time to talk about the morning. Standing in his yingfa's...just outside the equipment room Captain Tdiscgreggy had this to say..."Good morning boys, being my first Monday workout in a long time if it left great. It was great to have the team back together and of course welcoming our new teammate Flicker. Who did very well today for his first day. I have not worked out with a full team since March 26th spin class, so it was great to have everyone there today. I am pumped for a full week of workouts and hopefully jump outside this week. I will be entering the bunny hop since it is the big one. I did the hills of Emyvale Saturday to prepare myself for the wandlin hill.
Also on a side note, I just jumped on the newest craze Twitter so if anyone wants to find me on it, just type in Tdiscgreggy, and you will find me.
Great short work week, can’t wait for race day"!!!!!

Next was tdisckree...sitting in his yingfa's on the starting block..."Good to have the boys together today. I was still emotionally drained from the weekend but it was good to get together and become re-focused on our ultimate goal....which is getting the Admiral to the Olympics in London by 2012.
As for the race on Saturday. I am still unsure. Last weekend took a lot out of me and hurt the training but I won't rule myelf out of training.
Training Schedule for this week :
Tuesday - 630 - Meet at Dairy Queen.
Wednesday - 645 - Weights /Swim - Morning
6:00 pm - Outdoor Ride
Thursday - Spin followed by 3 k jog.
Friday - Pre-Race Day - Everyone on their own.
Saturday - Run - Swim - Maybe Bike too.
It is the Year of the Triathlon...
Keep on Keepin On !"

While rinsing in the changing room Jason flick talked about his first day..." I really didn't know what to expect going into my first workout with TDISC. There were just so many different feelings spinning in my mind. It was probably because all weekend long in St.John tdiscpye was trying to scare the crap out of me about how difficult the training was going to be...or perhaps it was because tdisckree was telling my that i was going to quit several times during the first two weeks. They really had me questioning myself. I still don't really know how everything will go. A 100 day tryout is a long time but i beleive that i am capable of making the tdisc roster. During our swim today i had a lot of encouragement from all team members and some great coaching from tdiscpye...I'm pretty sure that the noodle(pull buoy) kept me from drowing at one point though. Overall it was a great experience...these guys do live by their slogans "just go hard" and "just keep splashing". I'm not quite sure if the Admiral or tdiskgreggy were there or not...i saw them in the shower and jumping into the pool but didn't see them again. Perhaps they were creating that constant wave in lane three...do they ever come up for air? Looking forward to tomrrow's run..."

Tommorow is race day...We will do the dairy queen route. All I can say is expect the unexpected.

Till next time

Recharged!

Alright where to begin? Well...over the last few days i've been really stressed out about hockey and few other things. It has killed my blogging ability. I can't even think when I take my shirt off and sit with the lights off and green tea in hand in front of the computer. It's been a total struggle. Today we lost a heartbreaker in the atlantic championships. I was devastated with the loss...but what it did was make me re-evaluate everything in my life. I came out of that personal meeting with some new goals. Topping the list... my role with Tdisc and as President/ceo of bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com. The team has made it clear that they will not baby anyone anymore...time for tough love. Quote from tdisckree "Go ahead...Quit". I've decided to be less of a liability to my teamates and just do my job...train and blog. quote from tdiscadmiral "Just go blog".
Tdisc is back in the full swing of things starting tommorow morning. Tdiscgreggy has been holding strong in the absence of the boys. He's ran 13k but declined to race on the weekend...opting to wait and do it as the big 4. When we hop in the pool in the morning there will be 5....Jason flick will begin his tryout with Tdisc. Odds are he quits twice by the weekend...but we expect him to continue. You will notice a new counter in the right hand column...we will count down the days until Jason Flick's innauguration into Tdisc.
With hockey over, it staying much brighter in the evenings and it being warmer...tdisc will put in a big week. It's now officially the year of the triathlon. 2 months....

Till next time,

training on the back burner

Recently I have taken a break for a couple reasons. The main reason being that 3 of the big 4 are away at the atlantics where we will battle for the title tommorow. We have ran once and plan to tommorow. The other reason is because i've been struggling lately and have been revaluating my career with bloggingwithtdisc.blogspot.com. Thanks for all the support...we appreciate it and it doesn't go unnoticed.

Is Tdisc in trouble?

Over the past few days captain tdiscgreggy's out of training antics have been made quite public...well after a morning spent on the toilet and on the pool lane divider he released this statement."Boys today was a rough day for me, I honestly think I am just loosing the drive I once had to be a part of T.Disc. I don’t know what it is, if I am losing sight of the goal, or maybe it is the feeling of gaining a member and feeling I could be dropped as the weak member, because of my loose canoness. I am not sure, but all I know is after today’s workout I will be lucky to be on the team when the atlantics are over. I will keep you all updated,

In the gutter,

T.Discgreggy"

This came as quite a shock to the team which immediatly took the time to address the media. First to speak was Tdisckree...
Nuff Said.
There is no retiring, no letting up, just keep on keepin on !
Greggy, If I have to I'll Rick and Dick Hoyt ya through the relay. You are not shuttin er !
We are a support system and a family. Boys, watch the video above and let me know if ya wanna quit. We are triathletes now and I would only assume eventually we will call ourselves IRONMEN.
Tdisckree
"keep on keepin on."

Then I expressed my displeasures with the days events.
"September '08 4 ordinary men began a journey together....a journey that would eventually change our lives forever. Continuing on day in and day out by the inspiration of each other. Road blocks were set up and hurdled together. Early January we started a blog...something to record our journey...but instead it was used as a tool...a tool to reach the ordinary man and give him hope. Going through many ups and downs through the harsh atlantic winter...we searched for help when we stumbled upon the idea of naming tdiscs first team captain. After sleeping on it we decided to hand the reigns over to a man of great qualities. He was positive...and he had an uncanny ability to inspire others. The next day Tdisc made history by naming Tdiscgreggy Captain. He has not looked back since that day and has led us into 206 days of glory. Losing our captain at this point would be catastrophic to the team for the upcoming season. You can look back at dynasties and where they began. Would the bulls have made that run with Jordan....or how about the rangers and Mark Messier. Tdiscgreggy you are an extremely big part of this process. We made a pact right from the start...We are the big 4 and we will always be the big 4. By adding flicker we are giving him the opportunity to join tdisc...noone will ever be granted the opportunity to be a member of the big 4. Just like you would say to us "Get the frig...back on the wheel....you are not quitting or being cut. We have fricking 2 months before we introduce shock and awe to the RIR. If you can wake up every morning and look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself...I quit on my teamates than go ahead...Quit." Seeya Monday. P.s....if anyone is getting cut I think it will be the short fat guy who can't swim or run. Bloggers are a dime a dozen....leaders are rare.
