I was very excited to get back with the team this morning. I slept well last night and was up before the alarm and ready to go for the morning run. I arrived early but when I saw the admiral tapping the watch, I knew something wasn't right. "6:30 boys...you're late!" The admiral snapped out. Really the time was set for 6:45 but the admiral is still adjusting to his first cell phone and did not get the text. Since it was the first day...the admiral didn't freak out. The big news of the day was came when Tdisc realized they would have to start the season without Captain Tdiscgreggy. Tdiscgreggy released a statement to the media shortly after the run. "boys I apologize for the no show this morning, but I am still just a little burnt out. And I did not have to work early so I decided to take another day of rest. I Will be back though, I am looking forward to it."
We went out on a lengthy 57 minute run this morning to start off the season. We all felt pretty well throughout the run. The quote of the day came from the admiral. "I don't know what i'd do without tdisc." We had lots of time to discuss some season goals and how we should go about the season.
We also announced our slogan for the upcoming season. "Why Not?"
I'm really looking forward to what this season has in store for the team.
Till next time,

Tdisc vacation is nearly over!
So I signed myself up for a jog with the admiral today. One thing about going running with the admiral, you know your going to get a good workout. Today my legs were feeling a little tired and thought we'd be in for a short one but that quickly changed with the admiral said..."we'll go down around vic park...let's go for a bit longer one."
We had a good Tdisc chat on our run today. We have decided that Tdisc will be starting up monday of next week. It'll be then that the blog will be back to an everyday occurance. Even though tdisc has been on vacation, I have been training on a regular basis. I'm now the lightest i've been in years. Today I felt great late in my run after I struggled at the start. It's always more motivation than anything to get started on the run.
I have recovered well from the parlee beach triathlon. I took 1 full day off and then got right back at things. I'm not sure if my schedule is going to allow me to race in another triathlon this summer. There is talk of some running races...and maybe even the PEI marathon in October. Later this week I will also be posting my yearly goals.
Till next time,

2nd Triathlon in the books!
Tdisckree- 19th 2hours 26minutes 55 seconds
Tdiscpye- 22nd 2hours 30minutes 40 seconds
As I stood in the water waiting for the horn to go off I thought to myself "Why do I do these friggen things?"
I woke up at about 5:15 am and was on the road by 5:30. My preparation the night before was a huge benefit to me. I just got up and put on my triathlon outfit and packed all my equipment and left. I didn't feel very well...I was feeling tired and kinda sick to my stomach. That worried me a little bit.
I really became on edge when I arrived in parlee beach. It literally turns my stomach when i'm in the transition area getting things set up. When I waded out to the starting line I wanted to puke. It just doesn't get any easier the second time.
The horn went off! I ran a few steps and then dove in the water. The first mouthful of salt water nearly made me gag. Next thing I knew I had veared to far to the left...frig! Back to the right I had to come. The first bouy was quite far in this race so we didn't have the intial crash and bang going around the first turn. My swim went pretty well. I came out of water in 24 minutes. I was quite happy with it but I wasn't feeling that well after taking in a large amount of the water. The run to the transition was brutal!
The bike course consisted of 6 loops. I was terrified of missing or doing to many laps so I really focused on counting them. The first half was quite easy but the back half had a head wind. The good thing about doing a lot of loops is that you become quite familiar with the course. My bike time was great! The run....that's another story!
The feeling you have when you start your run is brutal. You literally feel like your not moving and your legs feel like they are smashing the ground. My biggest problem when I get off the bike is my back gets really tight and I find it hard to breathe. In the run I didn't feel very well for the first 5k but I was able to keep an ok pace. The route went out and back so you were meeting runners on the way back...this really motivated me because I was meeting some of the top guys not far from the turn. Due to the heat I was walking at every water station to make sure I got enough water in to me. The last 2.5k I knew I was going to make it so I really put the hammer down. In the last 300m I noticed someone coming up on me relatively fast so I picked it up to almost a sprint...to the point of nearly puking. As I crossed the mat I looked back to see him making the turn for the second 5k! Oh well...made for a bit quicker time.
Doing triathlons is an addiction. As I sit here today I can't help but think about how close I was to breaking the top 20 and breaking 2hours 30minutes. I'm not sure if i'll do another triathlon this year, but I know i'm not going to let myself go like I did last time. Tuesday I hit the pavement!

Almost ready!
I can't believe i'm doing another triathlon on Sunday. When I arrived at the TTF this morning Tdisckree asked me "If you pull out then I will." "Too late...I've told too many people"...I replied. They just kinda stress me out a little. Tonight i'm feeling that stress.
I really shouldn't be feeling stressed. Today was the best i've ever felt running and biking. My legs feel great, and I feel lighter then usual. I'm a little worried about my swimming. I don't feel quite as strong as I did for Fredericton, but I think i'll be able to swim straighter and smarter then I did before.
I really don't know what to expect for Parlee Beach. I hear it is a pretty fast course, so I expect to be a bit quicker.
Tdisc is proud to announce that we will be running the Canada Games torch from Cornwall to Bonshaw on Wednesday morning at 11 am. If you're around then be sure to come out and show Tdisc your support. It's widely expected that it will be the fastest run leg! I will start the leg and Tdiscgreggy will anchor it!
Till next time,

Just not the same
Training just hasn't been the same lately without a majority of the Tdisc members. Most workouts I do alone and the others are done with Tdisckree. Although it has been tough to stay motivated...I have gotten most of my workouts. I have felt great on my last couple runs...although the timing of a certain something just hasn't been done that well. My biking has been much better, and my swimming hasn't been to bad.
This morning I got up by myself and went for a 35 minute jog with a pretty good pace. It was tough to get up but once again when I finished I felt great. It game me a great start to the day. This evening I had a few things going on and wasn't planning on working out but when I recieved the call from tdisckree at 7:15 to go for a swim at cari, I agreed right away! I just had the feeling that I needed a good hard swim. I felt a little down in the pool...I just didn't feel quite as fast as I did before Fredericton. It's frustrating how quickly it can be lost! I did a long warmup followed by 8-100m on a 2 minute paced. I was absolutely gassed! The good news is...I felt better coming on the end then I did at the start.
When I take a bit of time off swimming I tend to make one big mistake everytime. Shaving the day before! When I swim my shoulder brushes off the side of my face. If you want to know how it feels...I suggest taking a piece of sandpaper and starting rubbing your shoulder with it. That's how it feels. When you're finished... look at it...that's how it looks! It's terrible!
Tomorrow I really don't feel like getting up and going for an outdoor swim but that's what I have to do. I miss tdisc and look forward to the team works in september.
To address the comment left on the blog. Tdisc has not folded! although I will not rule out major changes within the team.
Till next time,

Open water swim
Yesterday I had a pretty easy day of training. I went for a 20k time trial at lunch time and a light 32 minute run in the evening. I felt great during both. My biking has felt much better lately. For awhile I was really beginning to get worried that I was losing my strength in my legs. Which wouldn't have been good because they are still to big for running! My eating has been a bit better but I still struggle with picking at things...
This morning I decided to sleep in with the idea of doing a long run tonight followed by an open water swim in Rustico. I find it really tough to get my workouts in during the summer because there is so much going on and it is sooo fricken hot. With a tri in 2 weeks I have no choice but to get them in.

Parlee Beach in 2 Weeks!
I was talking to Tdisckree today and we decided that Parlee Beach on August 16th will be the next race for Tdisc. We're still unsure on how many members we will send.
On Friday I went for my first open water swim since Fredericton. I really didn't want to go but after I was finished I was glad that I did it. I went with a few other triathletes from PEI. I did one 750m loop...and i'm sure if you tracked me then I probably did closer to 900m. With the pool closing for the month of August I plan on doing 3 open water swims a week. I like it better than the pool because you can really get into a rhythem...rather then turning every 25m. However...the weeds and jellyfish give me the No feeling!
Today charity soccer tournament...which was raising money Mohammed's new hands. I had a great time...although I was quite disappointed when I was beat five-hole in overtime in the semi's. After I finished the soccer tourny...Tdisckree and I decided to go for a little bike ride. We went for a pretty tough 50k...and with the heat my water bottle lasted about 40k. I felt extremely well on the bike today...my legs were a little tight but felt quite strong.
Tomorrow I hope to get a run in and maybe a bike ride. The last couple of weeks i've been a bit lazy and haven't been doing my distances. This week I plan on going over my distances.
From the Tdisc headquarters at 195 blue heron lane...I'm Tdiscpye.
